The sound of a voice.
As unfamiliar as it was, it rang as clear as a church bell midst the incessant laughter that radiated throughout the sector. Her head, buried within the crevice of her knees, twitched ever so subtly as she debating bringing it upright. Could she be so hasty as to put a bit of faith into the idea that the youth that had approached her would be able to shine some sense upon her ordeal, perhaps even help her? Or was it simply a trap?
Gothita certainly seemed to think the latter as it jumped more directly between Green and her trainer, blue eyes leering at the other trainer with a fire that suggested just how close the two were. As the stranger grew closer, the Pokemon begun to hiss more like an animal than the humanoid shape it seemed to possess, and this was the sound that eventually brought the girl’s gaze upwards, to meet the eyes of the boy.
His irises were a calming emerald in colour; they were beautiful. Touko was at a loss of words at first, but after the spikey-haired stranger produced a Pokeball, she found her voice once more. “No way…” Her voice was coarse from sobbing, and the redness around her eyes did little to hide the fact that she’d been crying.
“Ah~ I let a stranger see me looking so pathetic. Some trainer I am…!" She laughed and smiled her tears away, trying her best to look stronger in front of someone from her own world. She hadn’t said it outright, but the relief his presence had given her had been significant.
The girl had so many questions for the boy that went unvoiced for now. He sounded to be in a hurry, but he’d still invited her to come along. She didn’t want to bog him down by keeping him in place to answer her concerns - she was just happy to have someone who didn’t look like he wanted to kill her!
"Wait!" Touko exclaimed, recalling her Gothita quickly before jogging up to his side. "I’m Touko, from Nuvema Town! I wanted to thank you, but I don’t really know your name… Sorry for having you look after me!" She extended a hand suddenly, her smile persisting. There was nothing like a good handshake to accompany an introduction!
As her decision was heard, his neck was turned to reestablish eye contact, the sudden change in her spirit mentally deemed admirable. Surprisingly, the energy with which she now carried herself he found all too reminiscent of another azure-eyed female; one who had been fortunate enough not to be brought to this hellish city. However, prioritizing his current situation, the thought was pushed away almost as soon as it was made, curious sentiments hardly appropriate to help him focus on crossing through all of sector oo2 into its next, hopefully more tolerable, clockwise neighbor.
Brows lifted subtly as she introduced herself, taking advantage of the conversation to distract them both from the obnoxious citizens surrounding their environment.
"Nuvema Town...?"
Interest was piqued upon realizing she was from a region he had yet to explore; even with all his travels, the trainer hadn't been able to venture too far given that there was barely any rest to be had when it came to documenting and studying Pokemon in multiple areas on top of running a Gym.
Nodding his head in silent understanding, he began to respond, particularly when she offered her hand in kind nature. Although he continued to stroll forward with his quickened pace, he extended his own hand to return the shake respectfully, his grip casually loose as if the gesture had been an unneeded social hindrance. Truthfully, her childish enthusiasm was one that inadvertently took him back to his first journey, a quality he appreciated more now that he lacked it in his daily routine.
"There's no need to apologize, you haven't done anything wrong." Well accustomed to bearing responsibility, he assured her she was no burden-- rather, it was her company that assisted in keeping his mind set in reality.
"My name is Green Oak. Originally from Pallet Town, I now run the Viridian Gym." Finding that introduction satisfying enough, he added idly, "...both of which are in Kanto."
Desiring more information on her part, he mused, "'Nuvema' .... you're from... Unova, is it? How long have you been in this city?"
