Part 14: Leaving the Family

Law was dragged, well more of carded all the to an alley to where he was thrown. He was going to murder this blonde bastard if it was the last thing he does. Law had a death glare on his face when he yelled

“What’s yours deal Corazon?! You wanna fight!?”

“Was that true?”

“Huh?”

“Your ‘D’ alas, if that’s true. You need to get away from Doffy.”

Law’s eyes widened. He was both shocked and furious. Get away? Why? He has a plan! And he needs to be a higher rank to fulfill that plan! The child’s thoughts were silenced when Corazon started speaking again

“Listen to me Law!! You can’t be around my brother!”

It was a new tone. Corazon had never spoken about Doflamingo like that. Better yet he never yelled at someone, not that Law was aware of anyways. So Law just stared. Confused until his brain processed everything.

Corazon took a seat on some boxes in front of Law as he smoked a cigarette. Law had started yelling drawing other people’s attention to their location in the alley, a risk he didn’t enjoy.

“Silence now.” Corazon’s voice was cold has he snapped his fingers

A purple circle slowly appeared and surrounded the two. Blocking out all noise from outside it, only noise heard was Laws confused ‘Huh?’.

“What happened?” Law asked, “The sounds gone? Where’d it go? It looks like people are talking. But I can’t hear anything!”

“You’re loud, so I put up a wall. They can’t hear us.” Corazon frowned, “Just like you can’t hear anything outside. I put up a sound proof wall around us.”

Law looked around them and the blonde had to hold in his laugh. Reading about devil fruits turned out to be quite helpful. It turned out that weird fruit he ate was a devil fruit, like his brother. Expect his cancels sounds. Which was fine because Corazon wasn’t a big fan of loud noises. It always wasn’t good because he never told anyone else.

“You won’t see it it’s invisible.” He said, like the child was stupid for looking

“I ate the nagi-nagi no mi. And became a soundless man.” The blonde grinned

Law’s eyes winded. They just stared at each other for a while. Law had more questions now. Did Doflamingo know? Why didn’t Corazon use it in any fights? What was even happening?!

“You’re a devil fruit eater?!” Was all Law could say, “What’s wrong with you?! You can’t lie about that! Don’t tell me that making a blunder like an idiot is also..”

“Yeah, of course.” Corazon smiled before setting himself on fire, “it’s all acting.”

“You caught on fire again you liar!” Law yelled

Even after he put out the fire, that didn’t stop Corazon from getting a new cigarette and lighting it with a match instead of a lighter. He huffed out smoke before speaking again.

“I’ve been clumsy by whole life that won’t change there you happy now?”

“Give me a break! You mean to tell me that’s the only truth to you?! Why are you hiding all this crap from your friends?”

“They’re not my friends.” Corazon’s voice changed

It was true. He really never considered anyone in the family his friends. He didn’t know why. He just didn’t trust them. Not from the start, not now. And probably not ever.

“I’m with them, but not by choice. Someone’s gotta control my brother’s rampage.” He muttered the last part under his breath, “Considering they encourage it.”

Corazon continued to talk, he spoke about how kind hearted his parents were, how big a monster his brother was, how Doflamingo had no humanity, how he was born evil-natured, he spoke about the only people who had seen that monster side of Doflamingo were the exutives, Corazon himself and someone named Vergo—who was currently on another mission.

The name sounded familiar to Law. He’s heard it before but he couldn’t place it. Corazon told him he had no business even knowing what mission it was. It only made Law more curious and more annoyed. The name sounded so familiar he wanted to know!

“You can’t turn into a monster like my brother. Now scram.”

Law glared, he wasn’t about to let this idiot ruin his plan!

“No way!! I’m not leaving! That’s exactly what I wanna be!!” Law snapped

The two started bickering back and forth, Law giving reasons why he should stay and Corazon giving reason why he shouldn’t. They were both distracted that they didn’t see two other kids peaking around the corner and start whispering.

Corazon continued to speak.

“The secret of “D.”! It’s no mistake. You’re apart of that fated clan those who have the D. Back where I’m from, children are disciplined like this; “If you don’t fall in line you will be eaten alive by D.”. And old people would frown and mutter, “D. will surely bring us another storm.”. Corazon said trying to sound as calm as possible.

Law only grew more furious, “What the hell are you saying?! That I’m some kind of monster!?”

“Perhaps.” Corazon said huffing out a puff of smoke, “Nobody knows the truth but that name,”

That was true. Once Law had asked Sengoku about it and he just said it wasn’t important. Then Law asked Garp who said no one knows. Not to mention they didn’t have any books on it.

“It has been ceaselessly, secretly inherited throughout history all across the world.” Corazon said bring Law back to reality, “And in some places, there are people who call those with the D. the ‘sworn enemy of the gods’!”

For once in years Law was surprised. Enemy of gods? Gods? That didn’t make sense. Is that why Sengoku never told him, or why Garp never said anything? He could feel himself shake a little.

“Gods?” He managed to say

“If Celestial Dragons are gods in this analogy,”

Ah, that made sense.

Wait-

How did Corazon of all people know? This idiot who can’t even take two steps forward without falling? How’d he know so much? Plus how’d he know about Celestial Dragons?

“the purpose of your people might be the destruction of this world.” Corazon finished

Law clenched both his mouth and fist at that.

“But it’s completely different in meaning from what Doffy is going for!”

“How do you know! Doflamingo let me in when everyone turned me away!”

Law grinned at an idea that came to his mind, “I wonder if Doflamingo knows about your devil fruit!?”

Corazon flinched, “You little shit!”

Law started running as Corazon stood up and tried to kick the child, Law managed to dodge and lift Corazon’s leg causing the other to fall. Corazon started to panic a little. If Doffy or someone else from the Familh found out he ate a devil fruit he’ll get yelled at and that’s the last thing he needs. Corazon lost sight of Law, which only made him panic more. Corazon had to pull out a cigarette and smoke to calm down—or sort of— he walked to the where the ship was docked trying to think of any lies that would work.

“Corazon!”

Damn it. Doflamingo spotted him. He’s screwed. Corazon swallowed and looked up at his brother. He had come up with an only a few lies. But those would only work if Law hadn’t already told him.

“Hurry up, we need to leave.” Doflamingo said turning away and walking

Corazon let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding letting smoke escape. He could feel his hands start to shake inside his pockets. Doflamingo had a plan. Something was gonna on his brother’s head, and with those damn glasses Corazon couldn’t read his expression! He caught sight of a spotted hat walking out from under the plank.

Law. Did he do something?

“I was gonna tell him, but then I remembered I owed you. So we’re now.” Law glared, “Don’t think I won’t tell. I have the advantage now Corazon.”

Corazon bit down on his cigarette. Damn the kid! Corazon walked up the plank. How many times has his mind raced? When was the last time he had a break? When was the last time his mind could just relax and not worry? It felt like years. Hell it probably was.

Corazon opened the door to his room, he was a combination of tired and annoyed. He found himself walking to his desk and writing. Law was like Doflamingo, and Corazon didn’t like that. Sure Doflamingo cared, but the definition of ‘care’ of him was different than for normal people. But Corazon still wanted to stop Law from becoming someone like him. Someone who hurts people, or multiples them.

Doflamingo looked around the ship. There was no sign of his brother.

“Where’s Corazon!?!” Doflamingo shouted. Damn. They can’t stay here forever. The marines are already here, add heavy winds to it, they’re acting like sitting ducks!

“I found a letter!”

Doflamingo turned to face Gladius waving an envelope. Doflamingo grabbed it and read it.

“The hell?!” He shouted

His brother left. Took Law and left. He left to find some make believe cure! How could is fool of a brother still believe in the impossible? There’s no cure. Doflamingo grit his teeth. He looked up, searching around the sea for Corazon, no sign.

“Rosi. You dumbass.” He grumbled between his teeth

Doflamingo gripped the railing. Sure Corazon was smart, but out there? Out there his brother would die. Just like in the nightmares.

Fuck it was getting hot.

Like fire.

Doflamingo turned to face his crew, “Find him!! Search around the area until you see him! And don’t stop!” They’ll sail during the time. But they’ll search for his Corazon. He couldn’t have gone far.

Corazon was good at sailing, not good taking care of loud annoying kids. So unfortunately he had to tie Law up and stole a small boat. He felt a little guilty for stealing the boat, but if he asked well that wouldn’t have ended well. Doflamingo would be fine. Corazon could hear Law yelling to ‘let him go’ but Corazon ignored and continued sailing. The snail ringing caught his attention.

It was Doffy’s snail.

Corazon silently winced. Last thing he needed was to be yelled at. Still, he reached for the snail and picked up.

“Corazon-”

“Doflamingo help!! I’m being kidnapped!! Help me!!”

Corazon silently thanked the boy for yelling, because that meant he didn’t have to listen to another one of Doffy’s lectures. Law had continued to yell and Corazon just ignored it. He could tell Doflamingo was either getting annoyed, or he had left the room. Either way Doffy wasn’t answering. And eventually the snail fell asleep.

“What!?” Law shouted, “He hung up!!”

“Hm seems so.” Corazon shrugged

“Ugh!! Drop me off at an island or something! Just let me go you stupid idiot!!”

Corazon started growing annoyed. He could only handle so much. There was a storm coming, and he had to get away from Doffy’s ship, and the marines! And Law complaining isn’t helping!

Maybe he should’ve stayed.

No.

He’s saving this brat. Then he’ll apologize to Doffy, accept the punishment for disobeying. But it would be worth it. Because he saved someone from becoming someone like Doffy. He could just hope Doffy wouldn’t be so pissed and show some mercy.

Side story:

Law meets Teenage Cora:

It was weird, one moment he’s in the hallway of Punk Hazard, now he’s standing in the hallway of a Navy base. No, correction. Marineford. He had questions. To many. The only one his brain could settle on was:

‘What the fuck?’

Law’s thoughts were soon cut off by someone yelling “Watch out leopard!!” It was odd. He’s been called many names. None of which were ‘leopard’. Before he could react, he had hit the wall behind him, with four people on top of him.

“Ow that hurt!” A female voice said

“It could’ve been worse.” Said another girl

“At least we had someone to break our fall.” a boys voice. And Law assumed he was talking about him

“I tried warning him!” Said the last

All four had started laughing at that statement before Law had finally spoke up.

“Get off.”

The four climbed off of him once they finished laughing. The tallest one reached a hand out and Law froze. The person had blonde bangs, bandages on one arm, his legs were sacred and the hand reaching out had some scars too.

“Sorry about that.” He said, crimson eyes looking down at Law, “But I did try to warn you.”

Law swallowed then grabbed the hand after reaching to the side to grab his sword.

“It’s fine.” Law said dusting himself off

The group chuckled, before Law could ask anything a sixth voice came, and so did its owner.

“Rosinante! You’re dead you brat!” Was that Fleet Admiral Sakazuki? He looks…younger. And covered in paint.

“Ah shit. The bastard caught up.” The blonde spoke grabbing Laws arm

All five of them ran, Laws thoughts racing. He couldn’t think properly, he just saw the new Fleet Admiral covered in paint and looking like he’s in his 30s!

‘The hell is happening!?’

A thump ended his thoughts again. He looked around making sure he wasn’t on the ground, no still standing, just in an old office. The four teenagers were panting for a few minutes then started laughing.

“Holy shit did you see his face?!” The grey haired said

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen him that mad!” The first girl said

“You’re so dead.” The light haired girl said

“It was worth it!” The tallest laughed

Law needed to put a name to them. Had to make sure he wasn’t going insane-though he was pretty sure he was half way there-the grey haired and light pink haired looked like Hina and Smoker as teenagers and the blonde…

“So who are you?”

Law turned his head to see the pink girl titling her head at him. The other three had made their way to a table with cards to the side and bottles now sliding to each other.

“It’s rude to ask for another’s name without giving your own.” Law said gripping his sword

Everyone looked at him, surprised like they didn’t expect it.

“Well damn. He might be the first to know that.” Grey haired boy spoke making the other two chuckle

“You’re right. I’m Hina, that’s Smoker,”

Smoker nodded holding his drink up.

“Belle-mere,”

“Hey!” Belle-mere waved

“And finally you’ve already heard his name, Rosinante.” She said pointing to the blonde

“Yo!” He replied

“Mine’s Law.”

“It’s nice to meet you Law” Hina smiled

“Watch five seconds later he’s like the rest.” Smoker whispered

“I wouldn’t doubt it.” Belle-mere whispered back

Law ignored them, and examined the room as Hina went to join her friends. They had rearranged an entire office, some bookshelves were taken out, one bookshelf had random books and comics, then there was a shelf on the wall it had a toy dinosaur, a picture of Rosinante as a kid with- was that Sengoku, Garp and Tsuru?!-, there was a box beside it, the box looked pretty worn out if you didn’t squint enough you couldn’t see the ‘Donquixote’ carved into it, then beside it, on the wall was picture of all four teens plus three more. The other side of the room was pretty simple, a desk for cards and drinks, a pool table, some bean bags and music machine.

Law walked to the picture on the wall, it stopped at his head so he used the butt of his sword to point to each new person when he asked, “Who are these three?”

“Hm? Them? That’s Doll, Sadi-Chan and Domin. They ain’t here right now, currently on a mission.” Rosinante shrugged the last part

Law looked back at the picture, they all looked so young. His main focus was the blonde. He had was smiling holding the finger up while Hina tried covering it with Belle-mere and Smoker laughing, Doll just seemed to smirk and Sadi-Chan was hugging Domin as she looked to be trying to calm the situation down.

“Hey hey!! I got an idea! Since that bastard is gonna search for us all day, why don’t we play some cards?”

“Sure!” Belle-mere said smiling

“I’m gonna beat your ass!” Smoker said

“I’m just gonna make sure you don’t break shit.” Hina sigh

“I’m leaving.” Law said turning and heading to the door

“Hah?! You can’t leave!” Rosinante cried

“And why’s that?” Law snapped. Blues this blonde really did act like Cora-san.

“Sakazuki saw you with us, he’s gonna assume you had some part in the prank!” The blonde shouted

Law girt his teeth, he had places to be, people to talk to, and revenge to take but he’s stuck here?! He looked down at his hand, an idea in his head

“Room.”

The four teens looked at him in confusion

“Shambles.” He flipped his hand upwards and in the blink of an eye he’s outside, his spot replaced by a box.

He looked around his new area, outside yes, but still stuck in the navy base. Thankfully there wasn’t anyone around so he just made his way to the dock where a few ships were. Being here was a nightmare. And what did young Smoker mean by ‘the rest’? Did Cora-san really know all those people? If so why didn’t he use that as an advantage 13 years ago? So many questions. The ships seemed to be the same as every other, expect for the younger version of Aokiji.

“Shit.” Was the only word that left Law’s mouth

“Who the hell are you?” Younger Aokiji asked walking towards him

Law got ready to draw his sword when the ice man started to use his fruit.

“Just someone trying to leave.” Law said

“You don’t look like a marine. What unit are you?”

Another shit. He doesn’t know the navy system!

“Big brother!” A familiar voice yelled, both of them turning

“Rosinante?” Aokiji asked

Law blinked, confused did he just say ‘big brother’?

“Sorry I should’ve told you! This is Law, he’s a friend of mine from the South Blue, higher rank than mine.” Rosinante smiled,

Aokiji on the other hand let sighed, releasing his ice and walked towards the blonde leaving Law. He just barely whispered, “You need to work on your lying.”

“Yet it works on the others.” Rosinante smiled

Aokiji smiled back, ruffled the smaller one’s hair and left. Rosinante walked up to the ship and looked up and gave a weak smile to Law.

“Sorry, should’ve told you my big brother was here.”

Law stared. Cora-san never said anything about the ice admiral being an older brother. He would’ve remember that.

“It’s fine. I had it covered.” Law said looking away

Rosinante climbed up and walked beside Law smiling, “I’m sure. But big brother tends to-”

“Are you real?” Law said stopping

“Hah?”

Law turned and looked the teenager in the eyes, “You look like him, act like him, hell sound like him! But he’s gone. So you can’t be real!”

“I feel real.” Rosinante said patting around his chest

“Then what the hell is your name!”

“Rosin-”

“No! Full!”

“Donquixote Rosinante.” The blonde said

Law looked down gripping his sword “How old?”

“I’m sixteen.”

Law’s eyes widened. He’s 16? Cora-san is sixteen right now? No wonder everyone looks different. But how did he get here? Arms reached out and grabbed him before he fell, he must’ve gotten too caught up in his thoughts.

‘Stupid. Now you look like an idiot in front of Cora-san.’

“Look, I can help you leave. But right now isn’t the best time.”

Law looked up, Cora-san looked so much younger. Yet he wanted to help? He couldn’t help but smile at that, it would be the second time. So he gave a small nod, and Cora-san smiled as they started walking back to the base.

“Why would you help someone you don’t know?” Law finally asked after a few moments

“Don’t know, you seem strong. Maybe you can help me.”

“Help you?” He looked up confused, Cora-san had a serious look on his face

“I want to burn this world to the ground. My friends say-”

“What.” Law stopped

The taller male turned, with a confused expression on his face. But Law had an expression that took Rosinante off guard.

“Ah right.” Rosinante said rubbing the back of his head, “Your new, I probably shouldn’t have told you.”

“No no! I’m all for that! But- you? Why? Didn’t they save you?”

Rosinante’s eyes widened then turned into a glare, “The world hurt my family! It killed my brother! I have every right to burn it down!”

Law’s breath hitched. Sixteen and Cora-san wants this? Then again Law wanted that at thirteen. But still! The Cora-san he knew never acted like this. Never mentioned anything about burning the world, hospitals maybe, but the world?

“It’s not worth it. The world isn’t.”

“The hell do you know!” Rosinante shouted

What did he know? Currently nothing. All of his knowledge of Cora-san seemed to be wrong. But this couldn’t be right! Wait- did he say? Laws mouth moved faster then his brain allowed.

“Doflamingo’s not dead.”

Rosinante flinched, “How…how did you know his name?”

Law blinked how many ‘shits’ was that? Three? Before he could correct himself Rosinante already turned around and walked off in rush with Law in pursuit.

“Hold on!” Law shouted

They walked, this time everyone seemed to avoid them, Cora-san’s death glare might be part of it. Law moved his hand by instinct.

“Room. Shambles”

They were outside again. This time farther away. Before Law could defend himself Rosinante already had his coat collar in his hands holding him up, glaring at him.

“The hell?! Whose side are you on?!”

“Not Doflamingo’s!!”

“What does that mean?! He’s my brother!”

“You already have a brother Aokiji!” Law fired back trying to put his feet on the ground

“My blood brother.” Rosinante growled pulling him closer, “Send me back.”

Time seemed to freeze for Law. Staring at this version of Cora-san was hard. It was like looking at Doflamingo. Law touched the grounded while Rosinante crouched and covered the top of his head.

“Ow! That hurt you old timer!”

Law looked up and froze. Of course it was Garp. A younger version but still Garp!

“Ha! I may be an old timer but I can still teach you some lessons!” Garp said looking down then up “Hm? Who’s this?”

Rosinante glared then looked at the ground, “He’s Law, from the South Blue.”

“I wasn’t aware we were having a transfer.”

“Well maybe if you quit beating the shit out of us you would!” Rosinante snapped back standing up, “Stupid old man.”

Garp laughed at that before dragging both to the training grounds. Rosinante cursing the whole way. When they arrived he was hunched over and pouting.

“Don’t think our conversation is over.” He said

Law rolled his eyes. Before someone tackled Rosinante almost causing him to fall.

“Princess!”

Law stared, Belle-mere had her arms wrapped around Rosinante’s neck

“I’m sorry. Did she call you Princess?” Law spoke

“Yea!” Belle-mere said, “It’s cause he always needs rescuing!”

It made sense. A princess needs to be rescued and Cora-san always did with how clumsy he was.

Law saw where Cora-san got the ‘throwing kids’ part from. Garp’s training was brutal! Possibly worse than the Donquixote’s! And Garp would throw you! But that wasn’t the worst part. On their walk back Belle-mere was flirting with Cora-san! Thank the seas the blonde was too dense to realize!

If Rocinante Never Met Sengoku

Part 13: True Name

Law sat outside in the garbage. Normally he would be plotting on how to prank Corazon. But today he Corazon beat him to it. Just a few hours ago, Law was minding his own business, Baby5 and Buffalo were talking to him in the kids room back at the base and Corazon came in and just threw him outside after he tripped! Of course that only made things unfair, sure they did their pranks but the blonde never threw him several floors! Was he actually trying to kill him?!

Law had to repay to the blonde somehow. He tried thinking of something. Maybe he could swap out all of his weapons? Maybe put all the bread and pizza in his food? No ideas. At least none that would make their score even. His anger was clouding his judgement, being thrown out a window into the garbage and bleeding brought back memories from his childhood. He didn’t want to remember them, he didn’t want to think about what had happened to his family and friends.

A few days later Corazon was reading the newspaper outside. Maybe he could get some information on what the marines were doing and what he had missed. So far not a lot had changed but it was still good to keep updated, especially now that there was a troublesome brat here. It was around the fourth page when he heard a creaking noise behind him, before he could turn there was a something in his chest, just a few inches from where his heart was. He recognized the feeling, it was a knife. And it only went deeper, whoever it was knew what they were doing.

“Oh crap you broke the blood law! I’m so telling!”

‘That sounded like Buffalo.’

Corazon glanced behind him only for a moment to see what was happening. Of course it would Law. A part of him was surprised the kid went this far.

Doffy was gonna kill the kid.

Law had attempted to run. Attempted being the key word. He was caught by two members of the Family who brought him straight to Doflamingo who was sitting in a chair just looking at him. Law looked around until he spotted Corazon sitting in another chair beside Doflamingo. Did he miss? He shouldn’t have! It was the damn coat, if he didn’t have that stupid feathered coat on Law could’ve killed him!

Corazon hung his head low and his arms crossed covering the wound. He was thinking of to get both him and the kid out of this situation. If Doflamingo found out the kid would die sooner. He listened to the words coming from his brother’s mouth, none were threats, they only compared the boy and him. Saying how similar they were, and how he recognized the hatred in Law’s eyes. Corazon started feeling uncomfortable at that, he didn’t enjoy the thought of there possibly being two Doffy’s.

His wound started hurting too much, and a cough escaped his mouth. As he moved his arms to use a hand to cover it.

“What happened?” Doflamingo asked

Corazon pulled out a piece of paper and wrote: ‘enemy’

“Did you take care of him?”

‘Finished him off’ Corazon wrote

He could feel Law’s eyes on him, the kid definitely had questions,

“Good. Get patched up.” Doflamingo said leaning away

Corazon sat in his room wrapping bandages around the stab wound. He tried to ignore all the other scares he had he tried ignoring all the other scares scattered on his arms and torso those were reminders that he was weak.

“Do you need help Corazon?”

Corazon glanced over his shoulder, Doflamingo stood in the doorway staring at him. Corazon was good at patching himself up. And Doflamingo had told him to. Of course that was probably for the role of ‘captain’ and this was Corazon’s big brother speaking now. He pulled out a sheet of paper that said ‘yes’ on it.

Doflamingo walked forward and took control of the bandages. Corazon sat still with his head lowered and his hat covering his head.

“You did a good job with the bandages so far.”

Corazon nodded at the compliment

Doflamingo wrapped the bandaged around Corazon’s shoulder and the other tensed up, Doflamingo told him to relax in order for him to continue. The rest of the time was spent in silence. Corazon was never one to ask for help, not from his brother, not from the family, or from any of the other people working for his brother. He preferred to do it by himself, so when Doflamingo was wrapping his wound it felt like Corazon was being a burden.

After the older male was done, he stood up and walked to face the younger one. Lifting his head with one hand Doflamingo smiled.

“If you ever need me to kill someone, I will.”

Corazon forced a smile and nod.

Corazon sat outside reading the newspaper, it was the second relaxing thing he had. The kids were in ear shot behind him, though he didn’t know why, they weren’t that far away from the base. The newspaper was interesting, apparently the marines had marked Law as ‘missing’ and there was more news on the revolutionary army’s actions. Corazon always found that group interesting, he half the time wondered what they did, and what their leader did to become the most wanted man. Flipping through a few more pages he was almost done with his paper.

“Yea but I never asked for your real names!” Law snapped

“Oh come on!” Baby5 whined

“Ok fine!” Law groaned, he hated that. That was probably the main thing he hated about her, she reminded him to much of her.

“It’s Trafalgar Water D. Law, but don’t tell anyone I’m not really supposed to-”

“You’re the one who asked!!” He snapped

Before the other kids or him could say anything he was already a few feet in the air being carried away by an angry blonde man. Law was yelling and squirming around to escape his hold but failed. They were walking for who knows how long, and Law was yelling trying to get someone’s attention as he moved around. They only stopped when they were in an alley.

Sorry for it being short! Working on a side story, can’t make promises about the next chapter being long or having a decent update! Hope you enjoyed

Part 12: Promises

Corazon grit his teeth trying to keep his temper under control. Ever since Law joined for some reason he has been having difficulty with everything. Either his gun would back fire, his food would have something he hates in it, his drink would be to hot, or something would cause him to trip. At first he thought it was his clumsiness but then he realized none of this happened until Law joined. Sure he would trip and Baby5 would make his drink to hot but that was normal!

He grumbled under his breath. To relax a little he pulled out a book and started reading. Even that didn’t work because the book he pulled had children’s writing in it.

“Are you serious?!”

Corazon stood up and walked straight to Doflamingo. Slamming open the door. He tolerated everything long enough. Screwing with his books was the last straw.

“Corazon? What are doing? And how many times have I told you to knock!”

“Yes I know. We must knock before entering your office. But this is more important!”

He slammed his book down on the desk and Doflamingo looked down. A confused expression placed on his face.

“What am I looking at?” He asked looking up

“What do you think? Someone ruined my book! I can tolerate the sabotage but-”

“Wait- sabotage? Who’s sabotaging you?” Doflamingo asked

“Feel like if I answer you’re gonna over react.” Corazon crossed his arms as he answered

“That doesn’t matter. The crew thinks you’re responsible for the marines finding us! Overreacting is the least of our concerns right now!”

Corazon looked away. He has heard the whispering, seen the glares. And he couldn’t tell Doflamingo because that would cause trouble. So he just let it happened, didn’t bother with it.

But Doflamingo was different. He didn’t let it slide, instead he would always claim that it wasn’t Corazon. And they had a law against anyone even thinking such a thing. He had claimed in front of them all with Corazon and the executives beside him: “If I hear more rumors of people excusing my brother. They shall be killed.”. Corazon had frozen and went pale that day.

“It’s nothing to worry about, I can handle it.” Corazon said lowering his arms and looking back and Doflamingo

“Handle it by ignoring it?!” Doflamingo shouted

Corazon didn’t mean to flinch but he did, he flinched away.

“Corazon. Some things you can’t just ignore. You have to deal with them.” Doflamingo said trying to sound calmer, standing and walking to the door

“Hah? Uh Doffy? Where are you going? Doffy! Well shit.”

Law sat at his desk flipping through some pages, so far everything here was cool. Their training was less violent and they didn’t beat the crap out of you so long as you followed their rules but that’s better then the navy so that’s a plus. The silence he was comfortable with was broken by his door being pushed open.

“Law!!” Baby5 screamed

“Oh for the love of..”

“Hey hey Law!!” Another kid called

“What do you two want! I was reading!” Law shouted shutting his book and turning around to glare and Baby5 and Buffalo

“Did you do something to Cora’s books? I’ve never seen him angry before!” Baby5 said walking toward him

Law grinned, “That’s a smart idea.”

He lied. It was him. Just like it was him screwing with Corazon’s weapons, making him fall more, ruining his stuff, putting bread in Corazon’s food. Of course it was him.

“Well whoever it was Cora is now chasing the Young Master trying to calm him down.” Buffalo added

“He snitched?”

“I don’t know,” Baby5 shrugged, “I just saw Cora trying to calm him down while walking.”

“What do you think he’ll do once he finds the person?” Buffalo asked looking at the girl

Baby5 shrugged again then looked at Law, “What do you think?”

“I think you should leave me alone for once. I don’t care what that blonde bastard is doing!”

“Ok jeez! You big bully.” Baby5 said walking away

“Yea!” Buffalo said walking after his friend

Thankfully they shut the door after them leaving Law back to his comfortable silence and now worries. He’s seen Doflamingo be protective of Corazon, but over a book? Couldn’t he just buy a new one?

“Doffy stop! No one wants another lecture!”

“Then they shouldn’t mess with my family!”

Law turned his head, that sounded like Corazon and Doflamingo. He got up and walked to the door creaking it open to peak outside. He’s never heard the two argue.

“Doffy it’s not necessary! Just drop it!”

“Corazon I’ve grown tired of this. It’s my job to make sure they respect you!”

“Not this crap again!”

The two blondes stopped a few feet away, only their shadows visible.

“Corazon we’ve been over this. I’m both your captain and your older brother!”

“I’m aware but always calling meetings isn’t necessary! The crew is probably more annoyed with me about the lectures than anything!” Corazon’s shadow moved pointing behind him

“They have to be reminded!” Doflamingo snapped back stepping forward

“Doffy for the love of everything! Just let it go, we can buy a new one!”

Law smirked. It was just a book they could buy again.

“I’m calling the meeting, and that’s it Corazon.” Doflamingo’s shadow started walking away

“Doffy, don’t!” Corazon chased after him a hand raised before he fell face first and cursed, “damn it.”

Law slowly and quietly shut the door, walking back to the desk, on top of it beside his book was a piece of paper with lists of pranks he could and had pulled on the heart executive. Thing is Corazon has responded to these ‘pranks’ by throwing Law at any chance he gets. So now the two go back and forth: Law sabotages him and Corazon throws him. So far it has works. Only problem is the blonde can’t do anything other then glare during meetings about work while Law could ruin the others food.

Corazon sat down fidgeting with his fingers, everything had went as expected. Everyone minus the other executives stared at him. The last time someone accused him of betraying the family Doffy had lost it. The executives and Doffy still act like Corazon is a crybaby child with Pica ready to attack anyone, Diamante resting his hand on Corazon’s shoulder, and Trebol’s hand on his hat. Thankfully they don’t do that in front of the others. It’s just their way of ‘comforting’ him. It always felt weird, and he didn’t like it. But he never said anything. Corazon had grown up with them so it was only natural they would act like this! Only thing he ever did was lower his head and look at the ground.

“There you are!”

Corazon let out a quiet sigh and forced a smile turning to face his brother and his executives.

“I was tired and everything was loud. Sorry.”

He knew how this worked. Corazon would apologize, Doffy would say ‘It’s fine’ and one of this others would make a comment on something else changing the subject and making everyone else forget about what happened.

“Were they staring?”

“Doffy, I was just tired. I haven’t gotten a lot of sleep.”

It was taking longer than expected and Corazon was getting actually tired.

Doflamingo stepped closer, “Is it because of Law?”

Corazon shot out of this chair tripping out of his chair causing him to fall the floor and look up, “What?”

Doflamingo did one of those smiles that was to wide and would always make someone both uncomfortable and tell him exactly what he wants. It always made Corazon uncomfortable even when he was a kid, it’s why he has tried to avoid it.

“I just stayed up too late reading. It’s not the kid.” Corazon said looking away

“I thought you said you had trouble sleeping?” Pica joined in

Corazon gripped onto the carpet, “I read a lot and tried to go bed, that’s when I had trouble.”

“Was the book that important?” Diamante asked

Corazon looked down. It seemed like everyone wanted him to hurt his neck by looking down almost all day everyday instead of just looking ahead normally.

“Yes.” Corazon gave a small nod hoping that would at least please them enough to stop questioning him

It was more concerning when Doflamingo crouched down to get on eye level, and lifted the smaller blondes face with his fingers.

“Brother. No lying.” Doflamingo said with that weird smile

“I’m not.” Corazon replied, feeling his anxiety come back

Even with the glasses Corazon could feel Doflamingo’s glare. He wanted to run, run far away, it was getting more and more unsettling as the conversation went on.

“Doffy you know I wouldn’t betray you or the family. You guys have my loyalty promise.”

“Promises only count for so much little brother.” Doflamingo’s smile only widened, he let go and stood up, “However, we are family. So do try to keep that promise.”

“Right.” Corazon went back to looking at the floor until he heard the footsteps leave and door shut.

Then he brought his legs to his chest and hands to his head and started mumbling as he felt a sting in his eyes. He tried covering it up by biting his lip, he still has to research on whatever the weird fruit he ate was but that stupid brat ruined a page in that book!

Doflamingo walked with the other executives back to the island. He could hear mumbling coming from room Corazon was in and a part of him felt weird. A twisted feeling in his gut. Maybe he took it too far. The lecture he gave was about how Corazon wasn’t a traitor. He’ll check in later, he knew all of Corazon’s hiding spots so he’ll be easy to find. It is his job as a captain to make sure everyone is kept in check, and also his job as ‘Doffy’ to make sure his little brother feels safe.

Corazon didn’t appear for dinner. And Doflamingo for once, since he was a kid, had felt worry. Dinner was the only meal Doflamingo had his entire eat together, every other meal they could eat separately, dinner they ate together. Doflamingo looked in all his brother’s normal hideouts. He wasn’t in any places and Doflamingo started to slowly panic. Fear of marines getting his brother again slowly creeping in his mind, his brother slowly betraying him.

He rushed outside maybe he was out there. Corazon had to be. He was there. Staring at the sea, Doflamingo walked to him and stopped beside him.

“Corazon.” Doflamingo felt the same weird gut feeling again when Corazon had flinched, “Your missing dinner.”

Doflamingo watched as Corazon pulled out a piece of paper and pencil and wrote, ‘Not hungry’

“Everyone has to be there doesn’t matter if you’re hungry or not.”

‘I’m fine.’

Doflamingo let out a sigh, “You remember what I said all those years ago?”

Corazon turned to look at him with a confused look on his face

“I promised I would protect you from any harm and give you everything.”

Corazon blinked at him for a moment, like he was trying to remember the moment

“So you have to promise me something.”

Corazon shrunk a little when Doflamingo turned his head to look at him.

“Promise me that you will never betray me. And never leave. Just like you said.”

Corazon gave a small smile in return and nodded.

Promises were something Corazon was good at keeping. And if it kept his brother’s temper and sanity under control for a little while longer, he’ll make that promise even if he knew the outcome. Still, Law looked more and more sick as the days went by. And no one seemed to care unless they were going to point it out or make fun of it. Even if the kid tried to hide how it made him feel, Corazon knew how he felt.

If Rocinante Never Met Sengoku

Part 11: New Crew Member

Doflamingo adjusted himself in his chair, so far everything was going to plan, Corazon was speaking to him—even if it was only a few words— he made the deal, all that’s left: plan how to take over Dressrosa. Only problem? He can’t think straight now knowing his little brother might possibly be leaving and joining the navy to find some kid. Corazon was too innocent to be in the navy. He would choose some kid over him? Their family! Blood! That’s more important than anything! Anyone.

“DOFFY!!”

His door slammed open catching his attention

“Corazon?”

“We need to talk.”

“If it’s about you joining the navy then I already told you the answer is no.”

“Screw that! Did you know the kids here?!” Corazon walked towards him till he was in front of the desk

Doflamingo moved, and sat normally, and stared at the younger man. “What do you mean.”

“He’s with Baby5 and the others currently, but if you’re reacting like this then you didn’t know.”

Doflamingo stood up and walked away hearing Corazon call after him, and footsteps follow. Doflamingo made his way to where the others were with Corazon not far behind. When they reached the room, Trebol and Dimante were sitting on a couch with Baby5 and Buffalo who were talking to another kid. Doflamingo stood at the doorway Corazon peeking over his shoulder (he was only a few inches shorter but still couldn’t quite see over Doflamingo’s shoulder just yet) there in front of Baby5 yelling at her saying “Get away!”. Was the kid from a few months ago.

At least now his Corazon won’t have to leave. Corazon pushed past and walked to a chair sitting and crossing his legs to take a nap. Doflamingo straightened up watched as the new kid also watched Corazon’s movement. One thing Doflamingo didn’t enjoy was people especially new people watching his brother.

“What’s your name?” Doflamingo finally spoke up

The kid turned his head towards him and spoke “Law”

“Little shit.” Corazon mumbled at the same time

“It’s Law.”

Doflamingo hummed, if he remembered correctly this was the kid his little brother didn’t exactly get along with.

“What are you doing here?”

“I want to join your pirate crew.”

“Hah!?” Doflamingo asked

Everyone else in the room looked at Law, to be clear the kid wasn’t wearing a marine outfit like last time. Instead he was wearing a dirty white shirt, black shorts, a leopard hat, covered in dirt and he was even covered in more white spots. It was a debate, if the kid stayed Doflamingo might be able to keep Corazon, however the kid still might a marine and he didn’t feel like putting his family in danger.

“Aren’t you marine?” Baby5 asked

Law turned his head to her and glared, “I hate the marines. I want to watch the world burn if anything. I was only with them because that stupid old man found me and didn’t let me choose!”

Doflamingo turned to face Corazon, he was slumped backwards in a chair and trying to hide his eyes under his bangs.

“Hmm. Fine. Trebol, Diamante and the others can tell you the rules.” Before he left he looked over his shoulder and saw Corazon half asleep still hiding his eyes under his bangs.

Corazon sat in the chair, and watched as Doflamingo leave the room. Once he left it didn’t take long for someone to break the perfectly good silence.

“When did pirates have rules?”

“We’re a family.” Diamanté said leaning forward, “Of course we’re gonna have some rules.”

Corazon lost interest in listening, he knew them, his brother made it a habit to tell everyone they ran into when they were out or when someone new joined ‘Harm my brother I’ll kill you!’ Word for word is what he would say. He did catch the a sentence before dozing off.

“This is guy who just came back is an executive like us his name is Corazon, he may come across as a thick headed klutz but truth is he comes from a powerful bloodline that is he’s Doffy’s little brother.”

He dozed off to sleep after that. Not caring what anyone said or did.

‘Powerful bloodline? Yea. Sure.’

The following days were…chaotic. Corazon had gotten more clumsy, his gun would always back fire or he would trip with it and it would all happen when the marines were chasing them. While on the topic of marines, they always seemed to know where they were. Fingers started being pointed, most had landed on Corazon. Only because someone overheard him one day saying he was thinking about joining.

None of this was making Doflamingo to pleased. Corazon however, didn’t say much. Just went on with his day and acted like people weren’t against him. Doflamingo was once again in his office tapping his finger. Corazon could ignore it, of course he could. He could always ignore the negative. But Doflamingo? He couldn’t. He couldn’t stand people thinking his brother would join the navy. The brothers had only bad run ins with the navy, never good.

Corazon grabbed Laws hat and lifted him up, “You damn brat! The hell you playing at!”

“I’m playing at nothing. You’re just a clumsy idiot!” Law shouted in return

“I don’t miss my aim, and I don’t trip with weapons! Don’t screw with me! The last thing I need is Doffy being mad again!”

“That’s a you problem.”

“You little-”

“Corazon!” Pica called, “Doffy wants to see the whole family. Let’s go.”

Corazon turned his head and through grit teeth said, “Coming.”

He looked back at Law and dropped him, walking away. Pica had said whole. Meaning the others would be there. He really hoped nobody would stare at him, it was bad enough about the rumors and the mumbling but if they stared? He might just break and run to his room. Corazon was good at hiding his emotions, his shades helped, but the whole ‘there might be a spy among us’ wasn’t something he was to.

When he arrived everyone was on deck standing with Doflamingo up front with the other executives beside him. Corazon tried to blend in but his height betrayed him and Doflamingo called for him to join in the front. He hung his head low as he walked forward avoiding eye contact with everyone until he reached the front with the other executives and Doflamingo. One again he tried standing to the side, away from the crowd and eye range and once again Doflamingo didn’t let him.

Doflamingo grabbed the younger man’s arm and pulled him closer as the executives moved out of the away. Corazon had hoped they would say something, it seemed they knew something or were in on whatever his brother was planning.

Sorry it’s short, not feeling well. But how are we feeling now that Law is in the picture? Should be fun!

I’ve been rewatching One Piece(currently on Whole Cake) and I can’t figure out if I should ship Cora with Katakuri, Bellemere or Buggy! There’s so many people I could ship him with! Anyways I know this isn’t my normal post just thought I should put this here

Part 10: On the Way Back

Something fluffy was on top him. Corazon opened his eyes a small bit, it was something pink and felt comfy. It didn’t matter, it was comfortable and he was tired.

Doflamingo walked back to his office, it felt off not having his coat on, his shoulders felt surprisingly light without it, at least Corazon wouldn’t be cold now. Doflamingo pulled out his chair and leaned back. Corazon still had spoken. At least not to him. Doflamingo started tapping his foot, something wasn’t right. Maybe Corazon felt ill. Doflamingo had already tried hiding his cigarettes—which had backfired Corazon found them and then proceeded to smoke—maybe he should burn them or sell them next time.

Knock knock

“It’s late. Whoever it is go to bed.”

Knock knock

“I said go to bed! I’m not in the mood!”

There’s a grumbling noise, clicking, and then the door opens.

Doflamingo turns his head to the now open door, there’s a tall shadow figure in the doorway. Doflamingo narrowed the shadow down: Trebol, Diamanté, Pica, and there’s a possibility it could be Corazon. The footsteps got closer until they were beside the desk.

Another grumble.

“What.” Doflamingo snapped looking up his head. Doflamingo blinked for a moment, the tall figured was hunched over and holding his coat with a glare on his face. It was now a ninety percent chance that this was Trebol.

He didn’t really have time to ask what they wanted, because before he knew his coat was tossed on his face. Doflamingo grabbed it, sat up straight up he ended up shouting instead of asking “What the hell?! You don’t toss shit at me!! You fucking stupid!?”

“Are you?”

“Hah?” Doflamingo asked, the voice didn’t match Trebol, he went over the people that he listed, the voice was raspy, smelled of smoke-Corazon!

Doflamingo stood up and turned on his desk lamp. Corazon was standing hunched over, with his coat over him and his hair braided leading to the back. As he looked exhausted.

Doflamingo looked down at his coat then back at Corazon, “I gave this to you so you can sleep!” Doflamingo lowered his voice carful not to wake anyone

“Don’t want. Now let’s go.”

“What-Hey!”

Doflamingo felt his arm get grabbed as he stumbled to walk. It took him a little to get that Corazon was speaking again. To him again. By time he realized they were already at the backside of the ship. Corazon let go of Doflamingo’s arm and sat down.

“What the hell are you doing. You have a bed!” Doflamingo snapped pointing behind him to the rest of the ship

Corazon only patted the spot beside him as he leaned forward. Doflamingo rubbed between his eyes and followed. Normally he wouldn’t but Corazon was speaking again and he didn’t want to ruin that. Doflamingo sat down beside Corazon, the older blonde lifting a leg to rest his arm on, as the younger one sat with both legs up and rested both arms on them.

“You look like mother.” Doflamingo grumbled

“Blame Baby5. She did my hair, and I was too tired to do anything.”

“So explain why I’m here.” Doflamingo turned his head to look at the other

Corazon went silent again. And Doflamingo just rolled his eyes, so much for him talking again.

“You need air.” Corazon yawned

“And you need sleep!” Doflamingo said

Corazon rolled his eyes and put his hand in his pocket until he pulled out a pack of cigarettes. Doflamingo glared down at the pack and the lighter now in the younger man’s hand. Corazon let out a few curses when the lighter wouldn’t do its job. Doflamingo took advantage of it and snatched the lighter.

“Hey! The hell?!” Corazon shouted

“I thought I hid all your packs.”

“Ok one: you’re terrible at hiding stuff. Two: I know you and where you would hide them. Now give me the damn thing!” Corazon shouted turning around and reaching out to try and grab the lighter

Doflamingo grinned as Corazon stumbled around to try and get the light, every time he had gotten close Doflamingo had moved his arm farther away making it more difficult for the other to grab.

“Stop smoking and I’ll give it.”

“What kind of half ass deal is that?! What good is a lighter if I can’t smoke!?”

“That’s for you to find out. Now hand over the pack.” Doflamingo said holding out his free hand

Corazon leaned away, looking at Doflamingo’s hand then face, “Is this a joke?”

“When have I joked.”

“Don’t know, your called the Joker.”

“I’ll break it.”

“Fine!” Corazon shouted turning around and grabbing the pack of cigarettes, and mumbling under his breath, “asshole.”

“What was that?” He asked

“Nothing.”

Doflamingo lowered the hand that held the lighter and grabbed the pack tossing the lighter. Corazon caught it, stood up and walked to the railing.

“I also meant the-”

“I’m keeping this one!”

Doflamingo stood up and walked to Corazon beside the railing. He watched as Corazon lit the cigarette, flicked his hand as the lighter went out and put it back in his pocket. And let out a puff of smoke after removing it from his mouth.

“You never answered my question on why I’m here.”

“Oh? You don’t want to spend time with me?”

Doflamingo glared at him, he wasn’t really in the mood for any more comments or any other of Corazon’s tricks.

“Fine.” Corazon shrugged lifting the cigarette to his mouth to breathe in some smoke, remove the cigarette then blow the smoke out, “I’m thinking of going to the navy.”

Doflamingo straightened up, shoulders tense, “Your what!?!” He shouted, at this point he didn’t care if he woke anyone up. What Corazon was saying was stupid and he couldn’t be quiet about it

“Can I finish? I’m thinking of joining to find that kid.”

The eldest turned to face the ocean and grumbled, “Has the kid been keeping you up?”

“He wore a marine outfit yet looked scared! Doffy something’s wrong!”

“Then that’s their problem not ours.”

“No! Doffy he needs help, if I join I can find him then-”

Doflamingo rested his hand on Corazon’s shoulder, “We’ll talk in the morning when we’re at the base. For now let’s get you ready for bed.”

Doflamingo started walking away when Corazon snapped “I don’t need your help! I’m grown ass man!”

Doflamingo waved with his head straight ahead, “Your a clumsy fool, you need help.”

“I need help not losing it with you.” Corazon grumble flicking the last cigarette in the ocean then walking after the other

Part 9: New Island

Corazon just laid on his bed, staring at his ceiling, listening to everything. The yelling, the ocean hitting the ship, the seagulls, footsteps. Yup. Just a normal day with the Donquixote family. What he wouldn’t give for some peace.

“Corazon let’s go! We’ve arrived!”

‘Right, not heading straight back.’ Corazon thought going to his desk and putting on the make up

Doflamingo stayed by the railing, waiting for Corazon. He told himself to be more patient this time. He had to be. Doflamingo spotted Corazon walking towards him, he was wearing his light pink shirt with hearts on it, white pants, rouge hat with hearts at the end, and his black feathered coat. That was good. Now everyone would they were related and not to hurt him.

“Took you long enough.” Doflamingo grinned

Corazon only nodded. He had been silent since their last talk. Doflamingo started walking with Corazon behind him. The younger blonde didn’t ask where they were going, what island it was, how long they were going to be, or how many maps he can get, the normal questions he would ask. They arrived with the rest of the family and they all made their way to a building.

Corazon started looking around until he felt a tug on his coat. Baby5 smiled and lifted her arms up, as Corazon picked her up and put her on his shoulders.

“You think I’ll ever be this tall Corazon?” She asked resting her head on his

That was a good question, he only knew one person taller than him and that was Diamante, and his brother—who only had a few inches while the swords man had a few feet—other than them he didn’t know anyone else. So he shrugged in answer to her question.

“Hey Corazon. How come you’re not talking anymore? I miss hearing your voice.”

Corazon looked down at the ground. He didn’t know how to explain that. And he can’t say “I don’t want to say anything that could disturb anyone.” That wouldn’t exactly make Baby5 happy. Guess he would have to lie again.

He took out a note book and just wrote, “Throat hurts, taking a break.” And lifted it up so she could see

“Oh…is it from you smoking?”

‘Way to call me out like that.’

“You’re still doing that?” Doflamingo snapped

Corazon wrote underneath, “Yes, sorry.”

“It’s fine. As long as you don’t set yourself on fire anymore.”

Baby5 giggled at that statement, “It’s pretty funny seeing that happen.”

“I’m glad my suffering entertains you” Corazon wrote

On the rest of the walk Baby5 talked to Corazon about anything that came to her mind, he found it quite amusing how much a small child could talk. Then came the annoying part. When they arrived Corazon set Baby5 on the ground and walked to wall to sit down.

“No.” Doflamingo said

Corazon stopped and turned his head confused.

“You’re coming with us. Let’s go.”

‘That’s a new one.’ Corazon thought walking back towards the group

Corazon took a seat on the floor closest to the door with the kids, Baby5 was playing with his hair while Buffalo laid on his leg sleeping—according to Baby5 Corazon had fluffy and soft hair she enjoyed playing in—Corazon just sat there, slowly falling asleep. He only heard something about an auction then sleep fell.

Doflamingo tilted his head to the side, Corazon had fallen asleep, Baby5 was now braiding the side of his hair, and Buffalo was sleeping on his leg. If Doflamingo imagined hard enough he could picture their mother sitting there with little Roci braiding her hair and Doffy sleeping on their mother’s lap.

“So we have a deal?”

Doflamingo turned back around. What was he doing again?

“Hm?”

“About the auction house? We have a deal about it?” The person asked

“Yes, you can do your auctions here and in exchange we’ll give you protection if needed.”

“Great! It’s a pleasure doing business Mr. Doflamingo!” The auction house owner smiled

“Indeed.”

Doflamingo stood up, “I’ll meet you all at the ship.” He waved to the Family leaving.

He walked towards the other side until Baby5 noticed and waved. Doflamingo smiled back, and looked down at the sleeping members. Corazon was lightly snoring and Buffalo was now lying over his leg upside down.

“How long have they been asleep?” He asked

“Well Corazon’s been asleep since the deal started and Buffalo fell asleep the moment Corazon sat down! Believe it or not he’s really comfy!”

‘I believe it.’

“Unfortunately we’re done here and we have to leave.” Doflamingo crouched down to be on eye-level with the younger blonde

It was weird, Corazon looked peaceful sleeping right here with a child on him. A part of Doflamingo didn’t want to wake him up, just let him sleep. All Corazon ever did when he was at the base was study or read never slept. Seeing him sleep was calming, because now Doflamingo knows his brother is doing well.

“Corazon.” Doflamingo tapped the others shoulder

“Hah?” Corazon asked slowly opening his eyes

“We have to leave. Let’s go.” Doflamingo said standing up

Corazon yawned then nodded. He lifted Buffalo off his leg and onto his back and followed after Doflamingo and Baby5. Doflamingo slowed his paced until he was beside Corazon then he spoke.

“Did you enjoy your nap?” Doflamingo grinned

Corazon nodded, still half asleep.

“When we get to the ship you can sleep all you want.” Doflamingo said straightening up and looking forward to, he glanced back once to see Corazon wide eyed and looking at him with puppy eyes.

His one weakness. Doflamingo turned away and continued to walk. They finally reached the ship and Corazon walked away leaving Doflamingo only to watch his black coat slowly disappear behind a door. Doflamingo turned his head to look at his Family. The deal was made, now it’s time to finally go home and just get some rest.

“Get ready to set sail!”

Everyone nodded and got to the post.

Corazon set Buffalo down so he could sleep better, and he took a spot on a chair. He looked around the room again, Doffy had made sure that each child decorated this room the way they liked. Toys everywhere, tea-party stuff in the middle, a small drawing desk in the corner. If anything this was a smaller version of the area they had back at the base. Corazon slumped in the chair, arms out and legs sprawled. His main thought, sleep. It was weird, he never felt this tired before! Maybe all those nighters were a bad idea. Doffy is already protective last thing Corazon needs is him being more protective.

“Corazon!” Baby5 chirped

Corazon turned his head a little, “Yes?” He mumbled to tired to even care at this point

Baby5’s eyes widened when she heard Corazon’s voice, “You spoke!”

“Kid, I’m tired. What do you need?” Corazon said looking up and rubbing his glabella.

“Oh! I was uh wondering if I could continue doing your hair?”

“Sure. As long as I can sleep.”

Baby5 silently cheered as she walked to Corazon’s side and started to move the braided hair to the side to continue her work.

Doflamingo stood against the railing staring at the sea. Once they get back, knowing his brother he’ll definitely bury himself in books instead of sleeping, just like knowing Baby5, she’ll try to unbury him from that like she always has. Doflamingo did not remember taking care of Corazon being this stressful and annoying, but things do change sadly. Maybe he could prevent any change, and just keep Corazon the same old ‘clumsy, never hurt a fly, goofy, idiotic’ little brother. Shouldn’t be that hard. Corazon always followed him, and always listened. It’s what made him an idiot. It’s why Doflamingo cared so much about him, Rosi would follow anyone and Doflamingo didn’t want him to follow the wrong person!

Part 8: Marine Training

Law grit his teeth as he sat up. He hated Garp’s training more than anyone else’s! Always getting thrown around, beat up, at this point he’ll happily go back to being a chore boy!

“We’ll continue tomorrow brat!” Grap laughed walking away

“If I’m not dead already.” Law muttered turning his head

Standing up he walked over to where Sengoku was, he couldn’t wait to hear this excuse on why he let Grap beat Law to a pulp.

“What’s your excuse now?” He asked standing in front of the man

“It’s Grap. What did you expect.”

“He’s going to kill me before the sickness does!”

“We’ll find a cure.”

“Tch. Keep telling yourself that.”

Law started walking towards his room, ignoring the glares and whispers he got. One would think the marines would be…welcoming towards sick people. Turns out they’re just like everyone else.

His room was sorta different. A bed in the corner, window above the ground beside him, a bookshelf at the foot of his bed on the wall. On the other side was marine stuff—desk with papers, homework, all that stuff—he had found a way to sneak in some of his stuff. Stuff he bought with Sengoku’s money when Law stole it. Mainly Sora merch hidden in a chest at the foot of his bed. He hated the marine flag above his door the most. Almost every room had one! So boring in his opinion.

Law jumped up on his bed, and leaned back. He had tried to leave, but stupid Sengoku or stupid Garp always found him. He shifted in his bed and moved up to grab the folder on his nightstand. It had all the information about the Donquixote family. Law has heard Sengoku a few times say he wanted to ‘take them down’ or something.

“She’s the girl from a few days ago. Baby5.”

Law turned the page, reading everything he can on all of them. He didn’t know why. Maybe because he felt in debt to what Corazon did that day? No. Couldn’t be that. Whatever, he’ll study this, hide it when he’s done, go to bed, eat, blah blah etc. etc.

Law couldn’t sleep, no matter how hard he tried, no matter how many times he turned in his bed he couldn’t. He got up out of bed, grabbed some clothes and put them, and made his way to Sengoku’s office. And hoped the old man left something.

“Are you sure they’re even worth saving Sengoku?”

What? That’s Garp’s voice.

“Of course I am!”

Law grapped the door gram and peaked one eye in to see was happening.

“Garp had a point, they both have done crimes. At this point we should focus on capturing them and locking them up.”

‘Tsuru too?’

“Corazon-”

“Is different we know! But come on Sengoku! Name one time he also hasn’t committed a crime!” Garp’s voice said

“What has gotten into you? When did you care about a pirate?” Tsuru asked

“….”

Law narrowed his eyes, trying to see if there was anyone else in the room. So far he had only saw Tsuru, Garp, and Sengoku. And so far it only looked like it was just them. The door creaked a little and the adults all turned their heads as Law gasped and turned to hide in the shadows.

Law watched as Sengoku came out, turned his head to search the hallway then returned to room and shut the door behind him. After that Law ran back to his room, slam the door shut and got to his bed his mind racing. No. Sleep. It doesn’t matter. Garp’s right, their pirates. It doesn’t matter. Just sleep, and get tomorrow over with.

Law stared at his food, he got no sleep yesterday. He had just laid in bed and stared at the ceiling. And he’s now feeling the side effects. He grabbed a fork and ate, he walked over and placed his dish on the counter and wobbled to the courtyard for death Garp’s training.

“Wake up brat!”

Law jolted awake just in time to see a fist heading his way, he threw himself to the side to dodge. Fist fighting was not for him. That was for sure!

“Is there a way I can do some other training?” He asked pushing himself up from the dirt

“Like what?”

“Anything” Law grunted

He tried everything, only thing he found interesting was sword, so he did that. And he was surprisingly good at it. So Law stole a training sword, a training dummy and put it in his room.

The rest of the day was boring to him. Teaching, eating, all the boring stuff. Then was bed. That was when he took a flashlight after lights went out, and went back to studying everything about the Donquixote pirates. Sengoku was right, there wasn’t a whole lot on some of them. Just the main three— Pica, Trebol, and Diamanté— were criminals and most trusted. Most of the descriptions were listed terribly. But it didn’t matter, Law could pinpoint what meant what. Then came Corazon. Interesting that they only had:

Never leaves Doflamingo’s side.

Another thing Sengoku was surprisingly right about. Law grumbled at the lack of information. Well there was one way to get information about them. But he would have to convince Sengoku, which would mean doing well in training and possibly admitting he cares. Which he doesn’t! Law just wants to know more! That’s all!

Sword training was decent, his trainer was good. He’s name was Bogard if Law remembered correctly. Didn’t beat him to death like the old man. He got better, studied different tactics, practiced more, and he surprised himself that he was this good! Now all that’s left is getting Sengoku to approve him for his plan.

(Sorry it short, probably will add more later, wanted to make a chapter just about Law and what’s been happening with him)

Part 7: Abroad the Ship

Sengoku found the two folders and pulled them out putting them on the desk.

“What are these?” Law asked

“All the information we have about the Donquixote pirates, mainly their captain and Corazon.”

Law leaned forward on his chair, there wasn’t a lot on the captain, Corazon had some information. Law studied the paper and its information on the brothers.

“You said I wasn’t ready. What did you mean?” Law asked narrowing his eyes on the grown man

Sengoku pulled his chair out and sat down, “Doflamingo,” he pointed at one folder, “isn’t to fond of new people, he puts them through test and if you fail you leave. He also is very protective of his brother, Corazon.”

Law looked at the other brother. The two looked similar, but while Doflamingo smiled ear to ear on his poster Corazon didn’t. He only held his cigarette, Doflamingo had his hand raised. Corazon held his hand to try to cover the camera so you couldn’t see his face.

Similar but different.

“Doflamingo’s older?”

“Yes.”

Law looked up from the folders and leaned against his chair. Thinking back to a few hours ago on that island, Doflamingo did seem to scare Corazon. Now he had questions! If Doflamingo was older that meant he was supposed to care about his brother not scare him! Law knew because he was an older brother.

Corazon wiped the makeup off his face then walked to his bed, threw his rouge hat and black coat off to the floor. He curled into a small ball as he rested his head on his arm. Today was..eventful. He tried remembering the kid, white hat, some white spots on him, a marine uniform-

Wait-

That can’t be right.

Marines don’t kidnap kids.

Do they?

Rolling over he covered his face with his hands. He’s too tired to think, too tired to do anything! He just wants this shitty day to be over! How pissed off was Doffy again? Maybe he can ask him about those weird foods.

Hmm…no bad idea. If Doffy lost his patience then it would be better to just leave him alone for the rest of his life the day. He grumbled in frustration, there wasn’t anything to do! He read all the books in his room, studied all the maps, already practiced his fighting! There’s nothing! He stretched his arms out and put them beside him and stared at the ceiling, they weren’t due to get more supplies until next week, however, Corazon could probably go steal a few maps when they dock back at base.

Most of the time there are maps on the street or in garbage cans. Knowing the family they would be too busy to notice him stuffing a map in his pocket. That plan might work. But right now? Sleep.

The face of fear on Corazon’s face played in Doflamingo’s head. But he had to make a point. So why was it so annoying?

“He’s hiding something…”

Doflamingo turned his head to his office door, what he wouldn’t give to know what goes on inside that head of his brother’s. He’s proven to be smart, cunning, fast, and apparently knows what to say and when to say it. Asking wouldn’t work, he’s tried when they were teenagers. That didn’t work, Corazon had found a way around it. But Corazon was afraid, afraid of him. When was the last time he looked at Doflamingo with fear? He could use that fear to get his answers.

Corazon shouldn’t be used! The only reason he’s doing any of this is to protect him!

He leaned back, crossed his arms setting them on his chest, “What are you hiding from me little brother.”

He tried to remember the last time Corazon was that afraid. Was it a few months ago? Maybe when the marines attacked! When they were kids?

“Maybe I should’ve brought that brat..”

He sat up and walked to the door leaving his office and being greeted by the bright sun. He blinked a few times hoping the dots would go away. His office wasn’t that dark!

Was it?

“Ah Doffy! You’re here, we’ve meaning to ask, where are we going to now?”

Doflamingo turned his head to see a tall lanky man—one of his executives, Diamante—he must’ve been waiting. Weird, he could’ve knocked.

“We’re going to Sabaody.”

“Very well. Before you go-”

He didn’t stay to hear the rest. He went ahead to find Corazon.

‘Probably in his room mopping’

Doflamingo made his way to Corazon’s room, he wanted to know what really happened. Corazon was hiding something. It either happened today or a few weeks back with the marines. Corazon will tell him or he’ll find out. One way or another, he’s getting answers.

“Corazon!” He knocked on the door

Thump

He lowered his hand and listened to hurried footsteps approaching the door. It creaked open just a little, so you could see a tired, scared, red eye and some skin.

How odd.

The door shut, then swag open. Corazon was standing hunched over, half of him behind the door, while he watched Doflamingo and any movement that was made.

Very odd.

“May I come in?”

“Oh! Uh sure..” Corazon’s voice was anxious

Doflamingo walked inside and examined the room—there was nothing wrong, nothing to worry about—he turned his head to see Corazon walking to the bed and sitting. He was still hunched over, mumbling about something.

“So what was the noise I heard before?”

“I fell.” Corazon said sitting down, his voice was still anxious

Doflamingo hummed, “Clumsy as ever.”

“Yes.”

What the hell is going on with him?! He normally hated being reminded of how clumsy he is!

“So what did you trip over? Air or yourself?” He grinned

“I fell off the bed, I’m sorry if I disturbed you.”

Doflamingo had to clench his teeth into the smile, forcing himself to keep the act. Disturb? What was he?-

Oh-

Shit.

The eldest walked to the bed and sat beside his brother—jaw starting to hurt— he could tell Corazon was thinking something. And he wanted to know. He should know!

“You didn’t disturb me. I just left my office, and wanted to make sure-”

“I am ok. There is nothing to worry about.”

He could see Corazon grip his pants, uneasy. Corazon watched the ground this time, but Doflamingo could tell he was listening to everything. That didn’t annoy him, his brother always had good hearing. What annoyed him was Corazon thinking he knew what Doflamingo was gonna say.

Doflamingo grabbed Corazon’s arm causing him to squeak in surprise. He set the others head on his shoulder as his arms wrapped around Corazon’s body. He wasn’t good at affection, that was his brother’s thing.

“Doffy?” Corazon’s voice cracked

“Just shut up.” Doflamingo gripped the others jacket it was soft, he must’ve changed when they got aboard,

Corazon slowly lifted his arms and wrapped them around the other resting his head on his shoulder. It was uncomfortable, he knew his brother. He was planning something. Had to be! He wouldn’t just hug Corazon for no reason!

“I’m sorry.” Corazon mumbled into Doflamingo’s coat,

“It’s ok. There was a marine. That’s why I grabbed you. If a marine were to take you away from me I wouldn’t know what to do. I’m just trying to protect you Roci.”

Corazon sat there silently, listening to every word that left Doflamingo’s mouth. Waiting for a catch, waiting for him to say something else! Say why he’s giving this hug! It’s not making any sense! Corazon started shaking, his mind racing with any possible reasons why Doflamingo was doing this.

“What are you thinking?” Doflamingo’s voice broke his thoughts.

The two pulled away and Corazon just looked down at the bed.

‘Thinking about why you’re hugged me.’

“I’m thinking about what to do, I read all the books and studied all the maps.”

“Hm, well we are going to a new island-”

“What?!” Corazon’s head shot up and turned to face the other as he yelled catching the other off guard

“Something wrong with us changing our route?” Doflamingo asked

“N-no. I’m just use to us always heading back instead of going somewhere else.” He had to look away, there went that plan of getting new maps!

“We can get you new maps there.” Doflamingo smiled

“Ok.”

Sengoku watched as Garp trained the recruits. Law was amongst those recruits, and the kid was as bratty and annoying as ever. Always yelling at Grap when he got punched, yelling say how he didn’t even want to be here. Sengoku leaned against the wall, he had hopped the kid would at least warm up to someone here! Turns out he just hates every marine.

Sengoku found himself thinking back to the Donquixote brothers. He had a chance to speak with Corazon, yet he took Law and made sure he was safe before going back. He should really do more research on them, if not them at least their crew! Maybe then he could send out a spy or something. He’ll have to ask one of the information groups about them. First, try to get a thirteen year old to like marines.

“Stop throwing me you old man!”

“Damn it Grap…”

What could go wrong?

I need a better name for this, I changed Cora’s age to 24 from now on.

Part 6: Who Are You?!

He ran. Ran faster than he probably ever has. It’s not like he didn’t trust Sengoku, it’s just that he didn’t trust who Sengoku was with. After all the Navy killed all of Law’s family. And to think Sengoku wanted Law to be in the Navy? Was he nuts!? Just because Sengoku found him, gave him a home, gave him food, new clothes and trained him doesn’t mean crap! The navy was responsible for killing his family. So since Sengoku brought him here to “learn” —or whatever he really couldn’t care less— he took the opportunity once the old man looked away and ran.

“Damn it Law get back here! You don’t know this area!”

“Buzz off old man!”

Corazon’s eyes half opened to see the ruckus that was happening. Who was yelling?! It had only been a few hours since his nap and frankly—why the heck is there a kid and an adult running to him?— Corazon fell off the ledge, he quickly picked himself up to get a better look at what was happening now. He watched as the two ran towards the building. He knew one thing about Doffy and his business:

Don’t disturb him.

Disturbing Doffy when he’s doing business is practically a death wish! He only stood up for a minute when he felt something slam against his chest and against his back.

So much for not disturbing Doffy.

“What the hell you brat!” Corazon shouted sitting up

The floor was surprisingly soft, but he could feel the glares on him. This was the last thing he needed right now.

“Corazon. What are you doing in here.”

Corazon flinched at Doflamingo saying his name. He slowly looked up and just as he suspected. Doflamingo looked mad. Probably more mad than when the marines showed up at Spider Miles.

“Umm well you see…I was taking a nap, then I heard yelling, when I woke up I got tackled.” Corazon slowly shrunk his head into his clothes.

Could this possibly get any worse?!

He could handle the others glaring but Doffy? It was horrifying! No wonder everyone gave in under his glare. Corazon really wouldn’t know, this was his first time being glared at by Doffy. Thankfully said culprit spoke up.

“I was being chased! You were in my way!”

“You little shit-” Corazon said looking down teeth gritted

“Alright that’s enough.” Doflamingo looked up from the two and at his business partner, “We’ll talk later when there’s no disruption.”

Corazon flinched, he stood up not carrying if the brat fell or not. The Family started walking out the door while Corazon walked towards Doflamingo.

“Doffy I-”

“We’ll talk later Corazon.” Doflamingo said as he walked away

Corazon let out a groan of frustration. He turned around to look at the room. It had seats everywhere, a big table in the middle with a papers to the side, chandelier, and candles around the wall. The floor he had landed on had carpet—explains why it was soft—the windows had their curtains closed. The place looked like it belonged to some rich person.

The papers are what caught his attention. He had completely forgot about the brat until he walked to the table and almost grabbed a paper.

“Jeez you let him talk to you like that?”

Corazon turned around, and walked towards the kid. Forcing himself to hide the anger and frustration in his voice.

“He, you little shit, just so happened to be my older brother. So yes. He is going to talk to me like that.”

The brat went silent for once and Corazon was about to make a comment when another kid walked in.

“The young master says to hurry up Corazon! He’s getting inpatient! Oh! And you can bring the new kid too!”

Corazon winced at the sound of Doflamingo getting impatient.

Wait-

“He wants me to bring the little shit?!” Corazon shouted

“That’s what he said!” The child said leaving

“Baby5 wait! Gah! Damnit!”

He glared down at the kid, and let out a sigh, “Alright. Let’s get going you little shit.”

Corazon started walking pulling out a cigarette to hopefully relieve some stress. He could hear the small footsteps of the brat hurrying behind him and soon his voice speaking up.

“I have a name you blonde bastard!” He shouted running after Corazon

Corazon rolled his eyes lit his cigarette, “Mhm, good for you.”

“It’s Law!”

“Well my name is Corazon so it’s to meet you. You little shit.” Corazon smiled

Law grit his teeth, “It’s Law.”

Corazon opened his mouth, before any words left he tripped and fell, face planting into the dirt as his cigarette flew out of his mouth. This had to be the worst day to ever happen.

Law stared at the blonde. He wanted to say something sarcastic but he felt his shoulder get grabbed and pulled before he could.

“Hey! Watch it!” He snapped

Law looked up and saw—oh great it’s Sengoku—Law glared at the adult. What could he possibly want?

“Those are the Donquixote pirates.” Sengoku spoke

‘Donquixote?’ Law thought turning his head to look at the blonde who was sitting up, ‘That guy is part of a dangerous group?’

“They’re the ones you’re after correct?” Law asked

Sengoku nodded, keeping his eyes on Corazon as he dusted himself off.

“Let’s go. You’re not ready to deal with them.” Sengoku said grabbing the child’s arm and leaving

“Wha- HEY! Let me go! Hey! Corazon help I’m being kidnapped!!”

Corazon tilted his head up and turned it around.

“What the?! Hey!” Corazon shouted running after Law and Sengoku,

Law watched as the blonde ran after them. To him it was weird, he only asked for help because the other citizens thought Sengoku was Laws ‘dad’ and he was just being a bratty kid! He didn’t expect Corazon to actually—oh wait he tripped over air, now Law and Sengoku are getting away.

Corazon got back and started running before an arm grabbed his. He was about to yell at the person when he froze.

“I’m losing my patience. Let’s go Corazon.”

“Doffy! The kid- he needs-” Corazon stumbled for words, he could feel his body tense up as his brother stared down at him

“The brat can handle himself.”

“You said-”

“Corazon. Must I repeat myself again? We’re leaving. Now.” Doflamingo said, dragging the other

No words left Corazon’s mouth. He just allowed himself to be dragged no fight left in him, his head lowered hoping for the best. The kid may have ruined Doffy’s meeting but it was kid. Corazon should help him!

Disobeying Doffy is wrong and he already caused enough trouble.

He heard a slamming noise, indicating they were in a room now. Corazon guessed it was probably his brother’s office. No one was allowed in unless they knocked. Corazon slowly lifted his head, hoping—praying—for the best. Doflamingo leaned against his desk, arms crossed as he watched Corazon.

“Explain.”

“Eh?”

“Full story. Now.”

“I did give it to you! I was taking a nap, I heard yelling, I stood up, and the kid tackled me! I swear Doffy!”

Doflamingo let out a sigh, “Then why do I feel like you’re not telling me something.”

Corazon straightened up as his body tensed. If Doffy found out Corazon looked through the papers he’ll be in trouble. There has to be a way out of this.

“I wouldn’t lie to you.” He said his hands shaking under the weight of Doflamingo’s glare

Doflamingo hummed, he walked towards the younger blonde and looked at him. Placing a hand on his shoulder and smiling calmly.

“You know I only want to protect you right? And I can’t do that if you don’t tell me the truth little brother.”

Corazon looked down hiding his eyes with hair. Has Doffy always been this scary? Is this how others see him? Some scary pirate who’ll do anything to get someone to say what he wants to hear? Blues all he has done is tell him the truth!

“I have Doffy. I promise.”

Silence fell. And Corazon hoped that for once someone—anyone—would knock on the door to interrupt this interrogation.

“Very well.” Doflamingo said, lowering both hands

Corazon lifted his head a little to look at him. He didn’t like this side of his brother. He preferred the side of him that was calm, would read books with him, go out to buy new books and maps with him, he didn’t like this version.

“But,” Doflamingo said grabbing Corazon face, “if I find out you lied, I will be pissed off understand.”

“I understand Doffy.” Corazon tried hiding his shaky voice, fear growing.

“I only want to protect you Roci.” The eldest smiled moving his hand to the side of Corazon’s head moving a strand of hair away from his eye

“Of course Doffy.”

“Good.” He stated

Doflamingo started to walk off but stopped at the doorway before saying, “One more thing, I would much appreciate it if you followed my orders betters.”

“I will Doffy.”

“Hm, that’s good! I don’t want my little brother getting hurt due to him being clumsy!” The only sound that left the room after that was laughter

Corazon stood there, he tried moving but his body refused to move. Apart of him blamed himself, he really should have done better to stop himself from falling. Done better to not disturb Doffy.

“Corazon?” A small voice asked

He turned his head to be greeted with the same child as before.

‘Smile. She can’t know. Just smile.’ He forced a smile on his face, Doffy, and Baby5 always said his smile made everything better. So as long as he smiled everything would be fine.

“What is it Baby5?”

“Is everything ok?” She asked stepping inside

“Yup! Doffy just wanted to make sure I’m ok after that crash! Nothing else!”

Her voice changed from its worrying tone back to its cheerful one as she smiled and said, “Ok! As long as you’re ok!”

“Yea, you know me! I’m clumsy and he wanted to double check to make sure I wasn’t brain damaged!” He said swinging an arm to knock on his head

“Pfft, yea that would be bad! We can’t have that!”

“Oh yes it would, I mean can you imagine! Me, brain damage?! It would probably make everyone question stuff! Although it would be weird if they didn’t already.”

Baby5 let out a small laugh as Corazon continued to talk, the two made their way back to the deck where everyone was. Corazon received a head turn from the elder brother, and he became quiet.

“I’ll see you later Corazon!” Baby5 waved as she skipped to her post on the ship

Corazon gave a wave back and stopped when the girl left. He followed Doflamingo to the cabin in silence, even if he wanted to say something, he highly doubted Doflamingo wanted to hear. The older brother wasn’t in the mood to talk.

Law watched Sengoku went through papers. He had expected to get a lecture about leaving his sight. But instead he just got pulled away back to the ship and is now sitting down watching the old man searching drawers for papers.

Part 5: Leaving Spider Miles

Doflamingo adjusted Corazon’s glasses than fixed his coat. He was still against this idea. Hated it. Taking Corazon somewhere dangerous, putting his brother in danger, exposing his brother to fights. He can’t do that! Not little Roci! Not his little Roci. When Doflamingo finished he gave Corazon a small pat on the head, and led him to his ship. It would be his brother’s second time seeing it. The first time was quite amusing. He had called it ‘A big pink ship’. Then again his brother was around 10 at that time, and the ship was still being made at the time.

This time it would be interesting to see his reaction to the ship. They walked to the ship while the rest of crew was getting ready to set sail. Doflamingo glanced over and to his amusement Corazon had the same amazed look on his face. Eyes wide sparkling with awe, mouth half open, like he just saw something new and incredible. The same face he always made. Doflamingo only grinned in return.

“Let’s get going shall we?” He asked

“That’s yours?!” Corazon said pointing at the ship

Doflamingo couldn’t tell if his brother was serious or if he was kidding. It was a pink flamingo.

“Yes it’s mine Corazon.” Forcing himself not to sound mad or offended

“Damn.”

“Then shall we go?”

“Yes!” Corazon smiled

They walked up the ramp and onto the deck. Doflamingo had his arm on his brother’s shoulder. Leading him to the cabins. They may be on a ship but that doesn’t mean he can’t protect his brother. There were to many risks that could happen—marine attacks, he could fall over board, he could get hit with something, Corazon could get caught in the ropes from the sails—to many things! Doflamingo must protect his brother. Especially if that marine wanted to talk to him.

“Where are we going Doffy?” Corazon asked glancing over at Doflamingo

“Somewhere safe.” Doflamingo stated watching the cabin get closer

Corazon looked in the direction where Doflamingo was looking, his eyes widened when he saw the door. Fear and panic filling his eyes as memories started playing in his head.

‘Wait- no. I just got out! Not again.’ Corazon ducked away from Doflamingo’s arm his mind racing

“Corazon?” Doflamingo asked turning around

“Um Doffy, with all due respect I really don’t want to go back.” Corazon grabbed his arm

Doflamingo looked his brother up and down. And let out a sigh. Corazon rarely asked for anything, but this was too risky. But this was his brother, his brother who rarely asks for things, and does what he’s told. The least Doflamingo can do is this.

“Fine. But stay near me.” He said reaching out

Corazon smiled a little as he took Doflamingo’s hand, “Ok.”

Corazon watched as they sailed. The sea was calming, listening to the waves crash against the boat was nothing like the sound of guns trying to kill you, the sound of angry people chasing you, or people trying to break into the factory.

“Where are we going?” He asked turning around to face the other blonde

Doflamingo was leaning against the railing head turned to look at the same direction Corazon was facing.

“I have some business to take care of.”

Corazon turned around and leaned on the railing as he tilted his head. He was always curious about Doflamingo’s “business” when Corazon was younger and Doflamingo first returned from a “business” trip he was covered in blood and had papers in his hand. When Corazon asked what had happened the only answer he got was:

“I just had some business to take of. Don’t worry.”

He didn’t question it. Never did. Corazon’s job was make sure his brother didn’t turn into a complete monster, make sure he doesn’t do anything stupid and be the voice of reason if needed.

“What kind?”

Doflamingo waved his hand as he turned around to look at the ocean, “Some deals.”

“Can I-”

“No.”

Corazon sunk into his feathered coat. “Fine.” He said

Doflamingo glanced over and let out a sigh, “I just don’t want my little brother to have to deal with all the boring stuff!” He turned around and placed a hand on the others head and ruffled the rouge hat

Corazon shooed Doflamingo’s hand away and fixed his hat as he asked “Is it really that boring?”

“Oh you have no idea! All they do is talk! And I feel like I’m dying!” Doflamingo purposely leaned sideways onto Corazon’s shoulder as he grinned

Corazon smiled and laughed a little, “Well if you feel like you’re dying then it must be boring!”

Doflamingo smiled, “Indeed it is.”

“Fine, I won’t go to your boring meeting.”

Doflamingo relaxed a little as he straightened up. Promblem solved. Corazon will not find out about his business and what he does. Corazon will stay he’s innocent little brother. Corazon will stay away from violence.

When they finally docked Corazon was going to follow along with everyone when Doflamingo stopped him again.

“There are a few rules Corazon.” He said

Corazon tilted his head, “Ok?”

Doflamingo lifted his fingers as he listed the rules, “1. You don’t leave my sight, 2. You don’t leave my side, 3. You don’t talk to anyone who’s not in the family, 4. You do what I say. Understand?”

Corazon blinked. Doffy had to be hiding something. Yes those are normally the rules if he ever went out, but Doflamingo put so much pressure on the last rule. Corazon wanted to ask questions, but asking questions wasn’t going to do anything. Doffy would just lie. He would lie like he always did.

“Ok.” Corazon nodded

Doflamingo hummed, gently grabbed Corazon’s hand and walked down the ramp with everyone in the family looking at them. Doflamingo only smiled widely as they walked. He made sure his grip on Corazon’s hand was firm so his brother wouldn’t fall all the way. Corazon would still trip but Doflamingo pulled him back up before his face hit the dirt. They were gods after all. And gods shouldn’t be getting themselves dirty. There were stores everywhere, shopping stalls, restaurants, apartments and some houses.

Corazón started wandering off, he let out a surprise yelp when he felt his arm get tugged. When he turned his head he felt his face heat up with embarrassment. Doflamingo was only grinning, Corazón picked up his pace and was by Doflamingo’s side again. Where he should be.

“We can explore later.” Doflamingo grinned

“Ok.” Corazón smiled

The building they reached looked weird—in his opinion like a ‘c’—the outside had pillars curving to the side for at least feet where the two doors were. The roof was in a shape of a dome with glass on top. The Family walked inside while Doflamingo stopped by the door, and rested his hands on Corazon’s shoulders.

“Stay right here until we come back.” He said

Corazon nodded, “I know.”

Doflamingo smiled, “Alright, I’ll see you in a few hours Corazon.” He waved

Doflamingo walked back towards the Family, leaving Corazon. One thing he did trust now is that his brother could handle himself, and if not Corazon would call for him. Corazon always called for him when there was trouble.

Corazon just smiled and waved until Doflamingo was gone. Once the entire Family was gone and inside the building he stopped, turned around and jumped on one of the ledges to sit. It was going to be boring with nothing to do. For once he actually wished for action. Or something to happen! Since nothing did Corazon decided to take a small nap. Leaned his head against a pillar, arms behind his head, and legs crossed on one of the walls, shut his eyes and took a few minute nap.

“Damn that brat!” Sengoku cursed under his breath.

Part 4: Walk Back

Corazon rested his head against Doflamingo’s shoulder while his arms just dangled. Too tired to even care, he was just glad to be back with his brother. Doflamingo just had an arm wrapped around Corazon’s waist and one rested on his head as he just stared in front of him. It was a close call, he almost lost his brother again. That wouldn’t have happened, he would’ve tracked him down. He has connections everywhere and he would’ve found him.

Doflamingo turned to look out the window, it was getting late. They should probably start heading back. He still has to burn this ship and Corazon looks like shit with all the dust.

“Corazon.”

“Eh?” Corazon replied sleepily

“We have to go. You can sleep when we’re at the base.” Doflamingo said

“Ok.”

The two stood up, Corazon picking up his knife from the floor while Doflamingo lead a hand out to the door so Corazon could go first. With a nod he did. And Doflamingo looked around the room before grabbing the snail and leaving. It could be useful. He’ll be sending a message to whoever owns this ship about coming near his territory and trying to take what was his.

It wasn’t a surprise that the family looked stunned when Doflamingo came back with Corazon. They all knew he wouldn’t stop at nothing to get his brother back. Despite most trying to stop him from saving Corazon. Doflamingo just had his arm wrapped around Corazon’s shoulder, the younger blonde was holding his knife ready to attack and looked tired.

“We’ll be in my room. Knock if you need anything.” Doflamingo waved.

He could feel the stares, especially from the executives. That didn’t matter. He’ll answer they’re questions later. Right now? Corazon. Doflamingo unlocked the door, shut it behind him, and walked to the bed, they both sat down and Corazon curled up in a ball and leaned against Doflamingo as he wrapped an arm around him.

“So, do you care to explain why you broke the rule?” Doflamingo asked leaning his head against the back of the bed

“If I stayed it would’ve ended worse.”

“The punch marks behind the closet?”

“Training…” Corazon replied before yawning

Doflamingo hummed as he looked down. Corazon was fighting the urge to sleep, trying to stay awake in case anything happened and he needed to be there to protect Doflamingo, but sleep was slowly taking over.

“You can sleep now. It’s safe here, there aren’t any marines.” Doflamingo smiled patting the others head

Corazon was quiet for a little till his eyes went wide, “Marines! That’s it!”

Corazon sat up to quickly he ended falling off the bed.

“You ok?”

“I need to show you something I found!” Corazon shouted poking his head up

“Ok?”

Corazon fumbled through his satchel until he found what he was looking for. He climbed back on the bed and sat next to Doflamingo and showed him the folder.

“What’s this?” Doflamingo asked grabbing a side

“I found it on the desk, don’t you know anything about it?” Corazon asked

Doflamingo examined it, a small picture of him in the corner, with lists of his territory, the crews he went after, and next possible attacks.

“Did they ask you questions.” Doflamingo asked, hiding his anger

“No. I just locked myself in the office. Why?”

Doflamingo grabbed the top of folder, folded it shut, and set it beside him. Another thing to deal with.

“It’s nothing. Get some sleep Roci.”

“No, I should-” Corazon said shaking his head

“It’ll be fine,” Doflamingo grinned, “if anyone tries anything I can deal with them.”

Doflamingo picked up his brother’s satchel and tossed it to the side he didn’t care what his brother thought at that moment. Corazon needed sleep. From the looks of it, he hadn’t gotten any since the Family left a few days ago. Meaning he stayed up all those days since Doflamingo gave him that book then left.

Corazon lowered his head against Doflamingo’s shoulder. He curled up in a small ball, closed his eyes and just let sleep take him. Doflamingo rested his hand on Corazon’s head, as he opened the folder beside him. He had set the snail on his desk, and the folder had a few answers. They wanted to capture Doflamingo, but they got Corazon instead.

They’ll regret that.

‘Training,’ Doflamingo turned his attention to the other blonde, ‘so that’s what he’s been doing when we’re gone. Might have to bring him with us so I can keep a better eye on him.’

The thought of putting Corazon in danger bothered him. Corazon was supposed to stay away from danger. But the factory wasn’t safe for him anymore. Just deal with it tomorrow. Like everything else. He closed the folder, then took off his glasses. Moving his hand on Corazon’s shoulder he rested his head on the younger blonde’s head, shut his eyes and fell asleep.

Doflamingo felt Corazon move, as he heard that stupid snail go off. Whoever it was they’ll be dead. Corazon was sleeping! And Doflamingo won’t tolerate someone waking him up. After all it was rare Corazon slept. He slowly lifted Corazon up so he could stand up and pick it up, laid Corazon on the pillows, and covered him up.

Sengoku started tapping his finger as he waited for a reply on the snail. He had sent one last group to try and get ‘Corazon’ to see if he will come and have a talk. Although it sounded weird and hostile rethinking it in his head, he probably should have told them he wanted to invite the boy over for a snack.

“Answer, is everything ok!”

“……”

“Damn!”

“Your being to loud.”

Sengoku stood up from his seat, that voice. He knew it.

“Doflamingo.”

“Who’s this?” Transponder snail asked

“I need to talk to your brother!” Sengoku said

“Once more, loud. Besides he’s sleeping.”

Sengoku went quiet. This was new. Doflamingo wasn’t someone he expect to talk to. But it should work. If he can’t get ‘Corazon’ to help, then he should deal with the problem itself.

“If that was all then-”

“Then I wish to speak to you.”

“What do you want?”

Sengoku stared down at the snail, Doflamingo sounded both annoyed and curious. But that didn’t matter, he could finally try to talk to the young boys.

“I wish to meet up and speak with you.” Sengoku calmly said

“I have no interest with speaking with someone who hurt my family.” Doflamingo snapped

What? No. Sengoku wanted to talk! What the heck is Doflamingo talking about?

“If you would listen to what I have to say!”

“Goodbye.”

“Hold on-”

The transponder snail fell asleep meaning the pirate had hung up. Great. Now what’s he supposed to do?! That was his last chance. Looks like Grap had won that bet. He sat down, and placed the talking end back down. He should give up. Their pirates. But the way Corazon looked always played in his head though. Worried, scared. The boy doesn’t belong with those pirates! And it’s his job as a navy admiral to fix that!

Part 3: Where Are You?

Doflamingo stormed into the factory not caring if his Family was behind him or not. Corazon sounded stressed over the snail, not only that but he hesitated when Doflamingo asked if he was safe. So his little brother wasn’t. He’s brother wasn’t safe. He’s not here. Not in the factory, not in his normal hiding spots.

‘Where the hell is he.’ Doflamingo grit his teeth.

The marines already hurt Corazon once. Doflamingo refused to let it happen again. He continued to walk around each room. Opened every door, every cabinet he wasn’t here.

“Where the hell is Corazon?!” Doflamingo snapped throwing a chair to the side

Hide out. He hadn’t checked there yet. Doflamingo turned around and was greeted with his Family’s faces. They had fear and worried written all over their faces they didn’t know about the hide out, it was just a spot for the two brothers.

“See if the marines are still nearby.” Doflamingo braked

He didn’t bother hiding his anger when he spoke. He didn’t care when they flinched, nodded and left. All he cared about was getting his brother back.

“Doffy, you know we care about you and brother, but if the marines were here then perhaps we should consider-”

“He is alive Trebol. Now go look for him!”

The three executives left leaving Doflamingo alone. How could they think that? Corazon was his brother by blood. They had a blood law! Corazon was Doflamingo’s brother which meant he should be here. With him.

Now.

He made his way to the room, the door already being open only made him more angry and worried.

“Corazon!” Doflamingo shouted

Nothing. Only bodies. Hold on- what?

There were bodies everywhere, marine bodies. If his brother did this then he would admit he was proud, but that also meant he wasn’t here. Little Roci Corazon was gone. Doflamingo grit his teeth as his hands turned into fist.

One rule. Corazon had one rule to follow. And that was to stay in the room unless Doflamingo or the Family was with him

Someone coughing broke his thoughts. He turned to face the closest to see a bloody marine leaning against it. Doflamingo walked towards him, he was alive—injured and possibly have a few broken bones but alive—the marine looked up at Doflamingo in surprise when he saw him standing over him.

“Where is he.” Was all Doflamingo asked, all he wanted to know.

“Who?”

Doflamingo grabbed the marines throat, “Don’t play dumb with me! There was a blonde person in here, where did you take him!”

“We didn’t take him! He left!” Marine shouted grabbing Doflamingo’s wrists

“Where.”

“I don’t know…I just woke up!”

“Then I have no use for you.”

“Wait!-”

Doflamingo used his strings to cut the navy man. He had hoped it would help calm his nerves, taking his anger out on someone who was responsible for this. But it didn’t. It didn’t help. If they didn’t know where Rocinante Corazon was that means he could actually be gone. And Doflamingo hated that thought. He would hunt down every marine, go to every marine base if they did take his brother. They took what was his.

His eyes scanned the room again, double checking in case he missed anything. Only thing that was untouched was a picture, where he saw himself walking towards until he looked down at it. He picked it up and just stared at it.

Two blonde kids were in the middle smiling care free, behind them was a woman also smiling with one hand on one of the boys, beside her was a man smiling. The old Donquixote family, just like it was an old picture. Before they moved.

Doflamingo guessed Corazon was either four or five at the time the picture was taken. He set it down picture down. He turned around—were those fist marks behind the wardrobe?—and walked to the door.

“Young Master!” A voice called

“Yes?”

“There’s a marine ship docked nearby.”

‘Corazon’ he thought running to the dock, ‘he’s still here’

“Young Master!! Wait!”

Doflamingo landed on the deck and was greeted with marines either patching up, or getting a weapon. He didn’t care at this point. If his brother was here, then he wasn’t safe. After all that’s all that matters. Corazon being safe. And this isn’t safe. Wasn’t safe for his little Roci. And he needed to fix that.

‘Kill the marines, find Corazon, leave then burn this ship.’ He mentally noted

He was going to spare them. Spare them for Corazon, but when one raised a gun at him he snapped. If they wanted to get in his way then he’ll kill them all.

Corazon heard their footsteps. They were getting closer to his hiding spot, and he wasn’t sure how much tighter he could grip his knife.

Was Doffy not coming?

Where was he?

Corazon shook that thought away, he promised to always come if Corazon was in danger. And besides Corazon had trained himself secretly by punching the wall behind the wardrobe and practiced using his knife in a fight! He’s ready. He heard footsteps approaching his hiding spot.

‘Shit.’ was his first thought

Corazon flipped the knife upside down ready to fight. The front door opened and he heard yelling start as well as shooting and the clanking of swords. He peaked out through the crack in the middle of the closet (couldn’t find the name) to see what was happening when he saw pink. His eyes widened as the person stepped fully into view. Corazon slowly lowered the knife and slowly opened the closest doors.

Doflamingo’s head snapped towards the creaky sound of the closest. He froze when he saw the person leaving it. He was hunched over, and a knife in his right hand while his left hand rested on the edge of the door.

“Corazon?” Doflamingo asked as his voice cracked

The small nod he got in return as the person walked towards him caused him to step forward. Doflamingo started walking towards his younger brother. He couldn’t wait any longer Doflamingo reached his arms out and wrapped them around Corazon. Both brothers fell to ground with their arms wrapped around each other. Doflamingo moved a hand behind Corazon’s head.

“Told you I’d save you no matter what.” Doflamingo smirked his voice shaky

Part 2: Marines at Spider Miles

Corazon had just finished a new book his brother had gotten him a few days back when he heard footsteps. They sounded too heavy to belong to anyone in the family, and it sounded like they held guns. He only knew a few members of the family who used guns since they didn’t have fighting devil fruits. Corazon set the book down and made his way to the door, he slowly pulled the knife hidden in his boot out.

‘Knew I should’ve dealt with those navy shitheads!’

He watched as about 10 or 12 walked up to the factory opened the doors, enter, and go back to their ship.

They were looking for the family.

Corazon turned his head to face the clock, Doffy and the others should be sailing back by now they always wanted to be back at a certain time. He looked out the peephole of the door. The navy was making their way to him.

‘Shit.’

He should hide. Should hide and wait for Doffy. That’s what the older brother had always told Corazon. If someone was coming towards him, he should hide and wait. But this is different. This is the navy. Not some pirates or some angry mob. So he stayed beside the door so when it opened he would be hidden, knife in hand ready to attack just in case. He really didn’t want to hurt anyone but if he had to he will.

Corazon watched as the door opened and marines enter the room. He held his breath. They were leaving, and he wouldn’t have moved if a damn marine didn’t touch photo that had his parents old family. He ended up stabbing the marine in the hamstring causing him to yell and summon the rest in. Doesn’t matter. Corazon’s good with a knife—not as good as when he’s punching but still good—it didn’t take long to take them out.

Doffy was gonna be pissed about this.

Corazon jumped over the body’s and grabbed a satchel. He had an idea. It was dumb, risky and he would probably die he knew that. But the marines always carried a snail on their ships! So if he could get aboard, get ahold of it for 5min, call Doffy tell him what’s happening everything would be fine! He only stopped running to pick himself up when he fell. Other than that he ran. Ran until he made it to the shore where the marines were docked.

The ship didn’t seem to guarded which played in his favor, because he really didn’t feel like fighting more skilled people. Sneaking on the navy vessel was pretty easy, there were marines on deck but Corazon dealt with them pretty easily. It took longer due to him always falling but he eventually made it!

Was it supposed to be this quiet?

No. Don’t overthink. Just get to the snail and contact Doffy.

Bookshelf caught his attention. It held books he had never seen before, never read before! Were those maps? He wanted to stay and read all of them, study the maps. Corazon grabbed a few maps and books tucked them in his satchel to study and read later. Afterward he marked the shelf with his knife and continued on his way. There’s an office up ahead, there should be a transponder snail there!

‘Locked.’ Corazon grit his teeth at the thought

He cursed under his breath when he heard the marines start shouting and run towards him. There’s no time for this. He slammed his shoulder into the door until it opened, Corazon got one look at the marines running at him and kicked the door shut, and shoved a drawer in front of it.

Yea, Doffy’s gonna be pissed.

Corazon sat down, and closed his eyes. Processed everything. Doflamingo was gonna kill him for breaking the one rule he set for the younger brother. He stood up and dusted himself and went back on his mission to find the transponder snail.

“There on the desk.” Corazon exhaled relieved

He started walking towards the snail when something caught his attention. There was a folder on the desk, it was already open. The folder that was opened had information Doffy. From his devil fruit, his territories, all sorts of things! Corazon mind was racing. That’s why they were here. He needed to contact his brother faster. He grabbed the end of the snail and called…

Purupuru…purupuru…purupuru…purupuru…

“Pick up you shithead.”

Gacha

“Hello?”

“Doffy!” Corazon said

“Corazon? Why the hell are you calling me? Did something happen?!” The snail asked using the person voice

“The marines are at Spider Miles.” Corazon said trying to sound calm.

“What.” Doflamingo said

‘Yea. He sounds mad.’ Corazon thought shaking a little.

“Are you somewhere safe?” The snails voice asked

Corazon lifted his head to look in front of him, he could hear the marines calling someone’s name. Did he miss someone?

“Corazon!”

“Eh?”

“Are you safe.”

“Yea, I’m safe.”

Doflamingo went quiet for a little then spoke up, “Find a hiding spot. We’re on our way back.”

Corazon placed the receiving end back down and looked at the folder. He’s stare turned into a glare as he snatched it and put it in his satchel. He walked away from the desk and looked around. Hide? Where? It’s a fucking marine office!

Under the desk? No it’s in front of the door

Behind the door? No they could swing it open to fast.

Push the drawer blocking said door to add extra weight? Probably, though the person they’re calling could break it.

He shook his head, think of those later. It’s a marine’s office! He could get information! He started searching the drawers, read the paper work took the important ones till something caught his eye. It was a box, hidden on the shelf behind some books. Corazon moved the books and grabbed the box, opened it and showed a fruit.

‘Who the hell keeps a fruit in a box?’ Corazon thought grabbing it

He turned the fruit in his hand, examining it with curiosity in his eyes. It was a round blueish purple color, with swirls decorating it, the stem looked like a curved ‘S’. Corazon knew he was alone in the room but he could’ve sworn he heard another voice. He stared at the fruit, with more curiosity.

The banging on the door got louder.

Corazon slowly lifted the fruit to his mouth and began to ate it. He shouldn’t have, should’ve waited for Doffy and asked about it. But he felt like he should. Corazon knew what garbage tasted like, heck he had to eat some growing up! And this weird looking fruit he just finished? Tasted like garbage.

‘Zero out of ten for the flavor.’ Corazon thought placing the box down

His head snapped towards the door when he heard it break a little. He scanned the room for a hiding spot. There. A closet near the back, no windows by it, and the door can’t break it when it opens. Corazon ran to the closet, shut the doors behind him, hid in the corner with his knees to his chest as he watched marines barge in. He’s breathing started shaking and picking up, he quickly covered his mouth in hopes it would help cover the shaky breathing.

‘Calm,’ he thought, closing his eyes, ‘calm down.’

He watched as they walked around, and shouted if they couldn’t find him. But they didn’t leave. They just moved everything, looked everywhere for him. It was happening all over again. He’s eyes started shaking as tears were forming with fear, there was no where to run to. The marines everywhere.

If Rocinante Never Met Sengoku

Part 1: Welcome to the Family

Doflamingo reached his hand out, “Let’s go Roci.”

Rocinante looked at the older brother with a mixture of emotions swarming in him anger, fear, sadness, disgust but he didn’t want to be left alone. Not with the angry mob out there. So he slowly took Doflamingo’s hand and followed him.

“It’ll be ok.” Doflamingo said softly, “I found people who are nice. They’ll keep us safe!” He smiled

“Safe?” Rocinante mumbled

“Yes.” Doflamingo said turning his head a little, “We’ll be safe with them.”

They walk further away, and Rocinante’s mind started replaying events. He was so confused on what was happening.

Why did Doffy do that?

Where are they going?

Will they be safe? Actually safe?

He just wanted to be with his brother.

“We’re here!” Doflamingo said breaking Rocinante free from his thoughts

Doflamingo stopped and turned his head to face the other, “It’s ok, they’re my friends! Besides I’m here!” He smiled at the end.

Rocinante nodded slowly but still stayed close.

‘That’s right. Doffy’s here. That’s all that matters. Is that I’m here with Doffy.’

Rocinante walked beside the older blonde his hand wrapped in his.

“I’m back!” Doflamingo said waving his free hand

Three adults appeared and one person who seems their age. Seeing another kid helped relaxed Rocinante a little, while the adults made him tense up.

“This is Rocinante! He’s my little brother!” Doflamingo said pointing at the smaller boy

Rocinante flinched, “Uh Hi?” He muttered

Doflamingo looked at him, and smiled softly, “It’s ok Roci. You can trust them.” He sounded a little annoyed

Rocinante took a few breaths, “Hello. I’m Rocinante. It’s nice to meet you.”

He tightened his grip on Doflamingo’s hand. He was still scared. He only forced himself to sound brave. Sound brave for Doffy.

“It’s nice to meet you to Rocinante.” A tall man said

“Hello Rocinante.” The child said

A masked person nodded at him

“Welcome to our family Rocinante!” A hunched over man said

It felt weird. Family? He looked over at Doflamingo who was smiling. Maybe he could give these people a chance. They do seem nice. And his brother trusted them. Rocinante smiled at Doflamingo. As long as Doflamingo was with him, he’ll be fine. Maybe he can be there for his brother if he has to, like the old days, or at least make sure he doesn’t hurt anyone else.

Doflamingo had returned from his mission and was walking to where his brother liked being ‘his little hiding spot’ as it was called, once Doflamingo opened the door he saw a rouge chullo on the couch. Doflamingo walked forward with a grin on his face. He’d promised himself years ago to never let precious Rocinante get his hands stained with blood. He stopped behind Corazon, he looked so focused reading. Doflamingo will have to get Corazon more books later. He took a seat catching the younger blonde off guard.

“You’re back early.” Corazon said

“They were weak.” Doflamingo said, leaning over to look at the book, “What are you reading?”

Corazon shrugged, “A new book I found.”

Doflamingo tilted his head, “What’s it about?”

Corazon closed the book, “Some place called Flevance. Went out shopping and found it.”

Doflamingo glared at Corazon, “You went out?”

“You took the family, I had to find some way to entertain myself!” Corazon said rolling his eyes

Corazon stood up and walked towards the bookshelf by the window to put away the book.

“By the way Doffy, I saw some marines, not sure if you have some business with them.” Corazon said walking back to the couch

The eldest groaned, “Those assholes can’t leave us alone.”

“With how high your bounty is not likely.”

Doflamingo watched as the other walked back towards him. For a 17 year old Corazon both looked and acted older. His rouge jacket covered his grey shirt while his black feathered coat loomed over his shoulders, his jeans overlapping his black healed shoes. Corazon’s hair was cut recently so it now stopped at his reddish brown eyes though it was covered by a rouge chullo with hearts at the end. Despite him being as tall as an adult, Doflamingo only saw small crybaby Roci, the one he’ll protect no matter what.

“You know I can go deal with them right?” Corazon asked sitting down

“It’s too risky,” Doflamingo said shaking his head, “the marines caught you once I will not allow it again.”

“You worry too much Doffy.” Corazon said resting his head on the others shoulders

Doflamingo just stared in front of him. The memory of him finding Corazon covered in blood and getting dragged away by the marines to the marines ship played in his head. All because he thought an 11 year old Roci could handle being by himself. It won’t happen again. Corazon will stay here. At the factory. Where no marine or pirate could hurt him.

“You’re ruining the peace with your negativity.” Corazon grumbled

Doflamingo hummed, “Me worrying has been keeping your clumsy ass alive hasn’t?”

Corazon lifted his head, “Hey! I’ll have you know I’m very good with a gun!”

Doflamingo turned to the other and grinned, he couldn’t help it. All he saw was small Rocinante instead of this teenager.

“Sure you are.” Doflamingo said messing with the hood on the younger ones head

“Agh! Doffy!”

Corazon fixed his hat and stared at Doflamingo, the older blonde turned to face the wall while the younger one rested his head on Doflamingo’s shoulder.

“Stay.” Doflamingo mumbled wrapping an arm around Corazon

“I have and I always will. Those are just nightmares you have. Nothing more.”

Doflamingo closed his eyes and rested his head on the other’s. Even if they were just nightmares, he hated the thought of someone taking his little Roci away. If they tried to he’ll kill them like before. He just has to hides it, Corazon doesn’t like it when Doflamingo gets all murdery But he’s doing it for Corazon. Everything is for Corazon. No one should hurt him. Their Celestial Dragons, their gods!

He tightened his grip on the younger blonde. No one will separate them. No marine. No pirate. No one.

Sengoku stared blankly at the wanted posters in his hands. One in the left showed a man with a wide smile with his tongue out, his blonde hair back, with red glasses covering his eyes with a dark pink suit and black gloves, and a pink feathered coat covering his shoulders, the one in his right hand showed one with reddish brown eyes which looked kind and broken, with a red lipstick on making a smile, and three blue lines under his eye, he wore a light pink shirt with hearts on it, — said shirt seemed a little too big on him in Sengoku’s opinion— white pants, overlapping black shoes while his blonde hair was covered by a rouge hat and a matching feathered coat expect it was black instead of pink.

Their names were Donquixote Doflamingo and Donquixote Corazon.

Sengoku had seen the two around a few towns, they looked alike but acted so differently. Of course it was when he was on business so he could never talk to the two. Doflamingo who, seemed to be the eldest was violent, he would use strings, which Sengoku assumed was a devil fruit, to attack anyone even civilians who laughed at the other blonde who would trip or catch fire when he smoked. While the other blonde—Corazon or Roci, Sengoku couldn’t tell he had heard Doflamingo call him both—was always cautious, and kept Doflamingo in check. Making sure the two never caused a scene or would reassure Doflamingo that he was ok.

If Sengoku wanted to catch them…

He should help them

…he’ll have to get to younger one first. Though talking to him would be hard they both seemed to be protected. Hopefully he can. Shouldn’t be hard. He’s dealt with worse. Mainly-

“Sengoku!”

Sengoku put the posters in a drawer and watched his office door slide open to reveal an annoying old friend.

“What do you need Garp?” He asked

“Want some rice crackers?” Garp grinned

“No I have work.” Sengoku said standing up

“You still looking for those two? Didn’t know you cared so much about some pirates.” Garp laughed

Sengoku glared at the man. Him? Care about some pirates? Of course not! He’s loyal to his job! He just wants to stop those pirates.

“They look young. And besides I’ve seen it.” Sengoku said walking to Garp, “Corazon is the one I have to talk to.”

“Well have fun!” Garp said taking a bite of a rice cracker, “They already made a move!”

Sengoku felt an eye twitch, he snatched the rice cracker bag away from the other and dumped it in his mouth.

“Hey!” Garp yelled

“Don’t you have some recruits to go train?”

Garp grit his teeth and left leaving Sengoku alone with his thoughts. Cared? Why would he. He’s an admiral! He’s job is to put pirates in jail. Those two chose that life. He ended up walking to his desk to gather his thoughts, he pulled the chair out and took a seat, shut his eyes as a conversation from a few weeks ago played in his head.

“Doffy it’s fine!”

“Roci they laughed at you!”

“It’s ok! There was a rock that I tripped on! So it’s ok. They can laugh.”

“….Fine. If they or anyone else laughs again I will kill them.”

“Please do not.”

Sengoku should’ve stepped in. Especially when he had found out that it was two wanted pirates who were causing the raucous. But it seemed Corazon had beat him to it. He had calmed the pink coated man down and led him away from everyone and to their original destination. Sengoku opened his eyes, he was gaining a headache trying to figure those two out. Whenever they attacked Corazon wasn’t there, but if they went out for fun? He was. If Sengoku could just find them and talk to Corazon! Then it would be one less pirate group to worry about!

‘Garp’s right. Why the hell do I care so much?’

He glanced over at the drawer, he had sent a few marines to spy on them before but they all end up dead. The little information he has gotten is that they live in Spider Miles, Doflamingo is protective of Corazon, Doflamingo would listen to Corazon, and they rarely go anywhere separately. It’s not very helpfully but it’ll have to work. Somehow.
