Caitlyn Jenner is very fortunate and blessed to have access to money and surgeries that most people transitioning don’t. On Keeping Up with the Kardashians, she had discussed with her children that she was doing quite a few surgeries, not all which are common or standard for trans people, but all which would give her a more feminine appearance. Caitlyn had ever right to do so and combat her dysphoria as she needed to, and, clearly, she looks amazing. But we must also remember to support transwomen without access to these surgeries and transwomen who chose not to get certain procedures done. Every trans person lives their life out in a different way. Please let Caitlyn be a reminder to support all transwomen.

Non-cutesy self-care tips

Have you been eating well? If not, eat a piece of fruit or a handful of nuts. You need vitamins; you need protein.

You’re probably not drinking enough water.

When is the last time you showered? Take a cold shower to wake you up or a hot shower if you need to relax.

Do the laundry that’s been piling up. You’ve been wearing that sweatshirt for too long.

Take care of the dishes in the sink that have been there for three days and have started to stress you out.

Did you brush your teeth this morning? How about your hair?

Listen to the messages on your phone that have been there for days.

Go outside for at least a couple minutes. You don’t even have to do anything; just sit down. Breathe in the fresh air and get some vitamin D.

Open your blinds. Your room is too dark and it’s probably making you tired.

Spend some time with your pet. Pet them, feed them, take them for a walk or clean out their litterbox. Caring for them will make you feel useful and responsible and give you something to do.

The self-care posts that tell you to take a bath and eat chocolate and read a book are good, but do what needs to be done first. Eating chocolate when you haven’t showered in four days and you can’t remember when the last time you changed your underwear was won’t make you feel better. It will probably make you feel worse. Clean yourself up; clean your surroundings up. Then take care of the little things. Tackle life one thing at a time.

I’m glad this is going around. People, Bernie stands for those of us who aren’t rich, who aren’t white, who aren’t in positions to abuse their power. There’s a LOT of hype going around because the media says Bernie can’t be elected (how’s that for pretentious? I thought voters decided that?) and because it’s easy to capitalize on buzzwords and then define them on the fly rather than define them by what they actually mean.

There is a HUGE volume of content out there spoken directly by Bernie. For decades his message has been consistent and unflinching. Just like this. Repost his actual words. Take away the media’s power to color this important man’s bid for president by refusing to say what they want you to think he says.

And then think. Of all the candidates running, do any of them speak like this? Do any of them have a message that’s about us, the little people? Do any of them actually give a shit?

Bernie does. I’ve met him a few times. He is…this. No games.
