SUCCESS THROUGH RUNNING AND POSITIVITY!!

Meet Jessie Jualo Abelgos, he was born in Abuyog Leyte Brgy. Libertad in august 24, 2002. At the age of 12 he is already an athlete where he plays basketball. Later he was inspired to try running when Mary Joy Tabal, the country first gold medalist of the 29th Southeast Asia Games, when to their school and conducted a clinic. Because of her advice and inspirational words and despite her struggles, family problem, and poverty she was able to continue to compete in international level and follow her goals and dreams, because of her young athletes like Jessie Jualo Abelgos was push to step forward to run and compete.

Even with a lot of achievements, awards and competition that he received and he struggled with, for him the most memorable is when he was still in Sister Mary School Boystowns where caught everyone by surprised as he bagged his first ever Gold Medal in 5km Run in 17 minutes and 50 seconds in Milo Little Olympics and broke the record. He also outpaced the more favored University of san Carlos – BEDs Rafael Troy Lugay (17:59) and university of cebus Martin Cris Ablangue (18:19). In this competition he was also featured and interviewed where his story was shared about their poverty just like his idol Ms. Mary Joy Tabal.

He said that the road of competition of running is not always a smooth one but it will also show you an uphill road where you struggle and might experience where you doubt yourself if you can make it or not, and also a downhill road where you might fall. But with his prayers, dedication, training, and always possessing a positive he was able to accomplished all his challenges. Long Distance athlete needs patience, perseverance, and hard heart.

Jessie is also an aspiring electrical engineer and his dream is to be part of the Philippine National Team to Compete and bring the Philippine flag in the International Competitions.

(My advice to the young athletes. Padayon sa pag kugi sa training. Always keep in mind, to win a race one must need a long preparation of time. Padayon lang sap ag kugi kay once you win a competition all your hardships, training and sweats will be paid off. If its not your time to the race then don’t lose hope, because someday it might be your time to shine in the stage with the medal and awards. “DON’T STOP IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE RUNNING FOR, STOP IF ITS FINISHED”.) – JESSIE JUALO ABELGOS

A day in a life of a third year Tourism Student

Waking up every morning is no longer the same as before. Now that i am a third year tourism student every morning feels so different, maybe because i have now a different routine, different priorities, or different task. But one thing hasn't change, every morning still feels so heavy the only thing that i haven't grown yet. Preparing for school is different since you won't only prepare your things and uniform but also you have to prepare yourself mentally and emotionally. College might be challenging but it is a worthwhile experience because college will offer you everything, not only knowledge but also the ups and downs in life. Teaches you to be prepared for a future that might turn your world upside down. A day of my college is also a day where i can spend a real good time with my friends they are also the people that motivates me to continuously improve day by day. A day of a college student is also a day, a chance, and a moment to be more. Still not the best but I'm getting there
