얼마전 Memrise 짧은(2분 남짓한) 신곡을 듣고 아쉬웠는데 너무 좋아하는 알리야의 트랙을 커버해서라도 나와주니 귀가 호강하네요. 이곡은 사실 미국시간으로 어제가 36살이라는 젊은 나이에 하늘나라로 간 Aaliyah의 생일인데, 그녀를 위한 Tribute 곡 입니다. 프랭크오션의 물 흐르듯 부드러운 건반위에 속삭이는듯한 가성은 가히👍 앞서말했던 Memrise도 그렇고 이곡도 그렇고 프랭크오션의 음악적 역량(특히 건반악기,보컬레인지) 정말 좋네요. 원곡에 대해 설명을 조금 더 드리자면 1976년 The Isley Brothers의 앨범 "Harvest For The World" 수록된 'At Your Best(You Are Love)'를 1994년 Aaliyah 데뷔앨범 "Age Ain't Nothing but a Number" 에 당시 앨범 전체프로듀서이자 남편이었던 R. Kelly 의 손을 거쳐 완성된 트랙입니다. 이후에 알리야 버젼을 Drake, Tamar Braxton 등이 샘플을 따서 사용하기도 했습니다. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To celebrate Aaliyah‘s 36th birthday yesterday, Frank Ocean released a cover of Aaliyah‘s hit “At Your Best (You Are Love) (1994)” (originally recorded by the Isley Brothers) (1976).
