Summer Magic
Subin enjoyed the down time she had now that the semester was over, a recharge was overdue. The last big moment was her performance for the summer festival. Part of her was surprise she was granted a solo spot considering the scale of the event. What made it even more important was that she was performing the same day as some big names in the media. She joked it was fate for them to see her. . . . Back dated to June 25th, 20XX She wasn’t going to complain performing later in the day, her outfit had already gotten her attention. The black jumpsuit made her look more like a member of X-Men than a singer, but this in her mind was the best thing to wear. There was no time for a change of clothes, her performance was going to transition without much of a break. After Subin’s finals she spent every moment refining her skills for this performance, her nerves weren’t that high since she memorized the dance and songs well before now. Her eyes were lazer locked on the stage watching the others during their act. It wasn’t until then she noticed she was going out there all alone. . .that added to the pressure. Her time was nearing because without the soundcrew were fitting her hands free mic and audio pack to her. She assumed it was only this professional because of the who was here. Other events didn’t have such a polished crew and equipment. “You’ll get the hand mic for your 2nd song, go get ‘em,” one of the crew members spoke before ushering her out. As she took centerstage she could hear clammer about her outfit, no turning back now she gave a bow before getting into position. The intro to KARA’s Mamma Mia was heard which got a few cheers from the guys, even after all this time they still had fans. That made her feel better that some liked the song choice. Subin had to edit the dance since it was just her and not 3 others to help divide the dance moves. Unlike her vocal final she wasn’t bound by rules on how to sing which honestly made her excited to even be performing. As the song ended she heard the crowd cheer: KARA! SUBIN! DAEBAK! FIGHTING! That caused her to laugh and give another bow. She had “fans” already. Right on cue a crew member gave her a hand mic taking the other off her head in 1 go. The next part didn’t have any dancing so Subin could solely focus on singing and interact with the crowd. She did have some worry about the song being in english but if they couldn’t understand it, they could at least enjoy the music. 🎶Dancing together Ain't nothing that could be better Tomorrow don't matter We'll make the night last forever So, do you believe in magic? Do you, do you, do you Do you believe in magic? Ooh 🎶 Despite her nerves her pitch did not waiver and her clear tone let her voice really shine. Though her range was high she didn’t really on tricks to prove she could, but instead on the story aspect and emotions the song made her feel. It was clear that most of the crowd liked her performance since they were cheering so loud. Subin gave 1 last bow before exiting the stage waving. Almost instantly the soundcrew was taking off the audio pack and mic from her. It took a moment for her to back to “reality”, it wasn’t easy to perform despite what many thought. She did all that planning and practice for what? To be on stage 10 minutes at most and now it was over. Subin wanted to get back there already. . .

sleepless in the stacks with @kwsammi
another night of troubled sleeping means that yohan is half asleep on his feet for his shift at the library. he moves through the stacks with his cart of books to reshelve, slowly. the overall atmosphere of the library is quiet this early in the morning and it’s just making it worse for him. he wants nothing more than to find a small hidden corner in the building to take a nap and though he might be tempted, he’s also incredibly afraid of the librarian in charge of them today. she’s a bit on the old school side and when yohan showed up for work this morning dressed in a t-shirt and jeans, beanie on his messy hair, she was already clearly unhappy.
because of that he’s been avoiding the information desk and the back office for a while now, instead finding sanctuary in the aisles away from her judging eyes. stopping in one of the aisles, yohan leans against the wooden shelves and rubs at his face with his hands, fighting off yet another yawn. “coffee,” he mutters to himself, “i would literally die for a cup of coffee right now.”
Even though the semester was coming to an end Sammi wasn’t as stressed like her peers. She had always managed her time well and that skill literally saved her in her pervious college life. Though she could’ve edited her papers back in the dorm, it was better to be at the library just in case she needed to add a references or quickly research something to make her paper stronger. That would most likely not be needed since the day she knew of the papers topic and got the professors approval she worked on the papers a little each day. For her that was a better workload than trying to complete the whole thing right before the due date and ask the professors questions if she was stuck. Finding all the papers met her standard she saved them right then and emailed the final versions to herself. Not making that mistake again. Sammi packed up in her usual organized way and could now find books to read in her leisure. She wasn’t going back to London this smmer or at least not right away. As she walked the aisles she wasn’t looking for anything specific just something that caught her interest. Some would say she was a know-it-all but it wasn’t her goal to show off just that her parents drilled their kids to be well-rounded. Some of the connections their parents had made were not related to their professions but out of the blue conversations they struck up. “Coffee? Some students are dying for a C- right now. Guess grades are something you don’t have to worry about,” she replied only because her and the source were the only ones around.

it’s all in the stars
in hindsight, aiden wasn’t too sure what he was expecting when it came to the astronomy club, but he was hoping that it would have been loaded with lots of one on one experiences with stargazing. all they had right now was a bunch of textbooks about constellations and stars, and although he loved that sort of thing, he had wanted to explore space, look at the stars, maybe even pull out a telescope. maybe he was a bit too excited, but that didn’t change the fact that he was just a tiny bit underwhelmed. well. it didn’t really seem to bother anyone else around him.
for the nth time that evening, he looked and reread the same passage. he felt like he was in one of his physic classes. now, don’t get him wrong. he adores science and loves picking up formulas and finding out new ways to use them, and to apply them, but clubs were meant to be fun, and now he was feeling rather bothered, maybe a bit too excitable, filled with nerves. he needed to do something other than sit down at a table and look at books and star charts. he was feeling antsy, especially after having left lulu back in the dorms– he wished he could have taken her with him, but she was feeling sick.
he turned his head to look at the girl beside him, she said her name was sammi, or at least he figured that it was a nickname of sorts- and he looked down at his note book. an idea popping in mind, he grabbed his pencil to write down a quick note and then a question mark, offering it to the upperclassman beside him, nudging her shoulder with his own. on the page was written: ‘nothing beats looking at the stars at night, with your own eyes. want to come with?’ and though he had offered with a question, he reached out to curl his fingers around her wrist and give it a gentle squeeze, standing up and quietly gesturing her to follow him. they both did enough staring at a piece of page for years, honestly. now they needed to do something else, something better, and obviously, that meant climbing the stairs to reach highest part of the university; the rooftop, but he’s been there a bunch of times already, it was easy peasy.
he was excited to go.
“hurry up, the stars shine the best when the night turns darkest.”
@kwsammi
The idea of the astronomy club Subin had in her mind was different than the reality. Like the stars thre had to be a perfect ailgment of conditions to view the stars. If not the club members were gathered around reading and discussing the topic. This was 1 of the few forms of interaction she had out of interest and not to serve a purpose to keep up the family name. Subin was a bit introvert but compared to most of the other club members she was extroverted. Her focus was more so on new developments in the field not . . .things already known (according to theory). With that she was more prone to watch online vdeos than read a book. Exoplanets and black holes affect on time and space peaked her interest the most. Maybe if she took a physics or chemistry course she could add more to the conversations than her niche. Her gaze was fixed on her tablet not noticing the piece of paper that was slid her way. It wasn’t until she felt a touch did she look. Aiden was the most quiet person she ever met. There was some. . .words going around that he was mute or declined to speak even though he could. Subin wasn’t concerned with that, as he could communicate in other ways. Reading the note she did have to admit the atmoshpere was kind of tame. It was perfect timing when she took off her earbuds because that was the 1st time she heard Aiden speak. Subin drew her head back having that experience. He sounded like /that/, a real smooth talker. Maybe him staying quiet was for the best. “Sure let’s go,” she replied packing up her things in her systematic way, “Maybe we could ask the club president for a few telescopes or all of us pitch in for personal ones. I mean club dues should pay for that.”

(to rei) you got it ALL wrong. you set them on fire if you dislike them. (to rei) unless you give them a flaming alcohol drink. . . but don’t let it near your hair. trust me (to rei) so you are you daydreaming about!?
Hard Hitter
The school year was coming to a close so that meant finals. Subin was of course tense but not like her Ivy League days, she had more . . .focused confidence than before. She was one to never brag about that experience but more so bring it up. To leave such a world was. . .embarrasing and meant in some way she was “weak”. Starting over at Kyungwon was a 2nd chance, a clean slate. Her undergradute studies and marks placed her near the top however graduate school was the time to truly excel. Being a double major (in graduate courses) was a move that brought questions of one’s sanity but Subin was ambitious enough to take on the challenge. She wasn’t about to spend all this time on her studies and not get something out of for herself. That dd require efficient planning and organizing. Her days were scheduled down to the minute of what and where she had to be. There was enough flex time to account for life hick ups like a late bus. Her 2 biggest finals were in accounting and vocal pedagogy, in hindsight it was blessing she didn’t register for a dance course because then she would’ve truly overloaded. Accounting was her main major and she was aiming for a 4.0 or close to it as possible. Really to please her parents and so just studying the course material wasn’t she had to apply it in the real world. Being an accounting tutor helped to make sure she understood and could explain the concepts to others. The young woman took a step further and bought an accounting game to further refine her skills. Her liberal studies was a mix match of course on paper that made no sense to anyone but her, she played to her strengths as a performer yet was aware she had to learn about the “boring” parts of entertainment aka copyright, IP, contracts, etc. Vocals was her main focus and the final for it is was worried her the most. Her fomal training was limited with little classical instruction more so focused on popular music genres. However her determination and passion almost put her on the same level as her peers who had such opportunity. Subin eyes kept shifting to the clock on her laptop, she was racing to finish the current balance sheet before she had to move to her next activity. She had to quiet the urge to end early and finish “the right way”. No cutting corners. One of her Mother’s famous lines. The nanosecond the time changed to end of her accounting studies she packed up with lighting speed. Subin didn’t have to really think about the process, she had done so to not waste time. Though there was more pressure on her vocal final the fire burned in her to excel, it was clear as day she lacked the finesse as most of her peers. However she loved to prove them and the professors wrong, maybe that was a remant of her Ivy League days. That competitive spirit that was dim but now it was blinding. Making her way to the music department she tried to find her favorite practice room. She could find it blindflolded but there was almost a moment of tension as anyone else could be in there before. Today luck was on her side and she locked the door of any would be intruder. Pulling on the materials she looked at the clock. This would be her home for the next 90 minutes.
