So Anxious - Kyla Philander (2015)
I've been reconsidering what space represents in my life. Having been part of a large family in sometimes constrained, sometimes bigger spaces, home was not a tangible thing but more a general feeling of the people who occupy the space that I'm in.
I'm currently in a space of limbo, living with my mother in her new place as she transitions into a space of non-devastation, trying not to co-opt her journey of healing whilst attempting to be supportive.
This was shot in her room, but that's my bed headboard behind me and one light source which is the bed-side lamp being used because the overhead light isn't working. We've hung a brown sheet over the large bedroom window for privacy and I often sit on the carpeted floor listening to Ginuwine, whom my mom surprisingly likes.
So, I thought this was a cool environment to play around with the slo-mo setting on my phone. I thought about those pantene commercials and how these mousy girls, with straw hair were always made to look so amazing behind a fan and some makeup.
This is my care-free black girl shampoo commercial featuring my favourite song of all time in one of the most mysterious and special places I've been in.
Format: Shot in 30 seconds with Iphone 5s.
