"Marianne— she was…she was murdered. They found her an hour a go in some alleyway not far from here— they said she was… raped and shot, and… that it happened a few hours before that… they know it’s homicide, but they don’t have any idea who could have done it— Kyle, I’m so, so sorry.."

     Kennedy spied Kyle playing with Keegan out of the corner of her eye, looking down at her hands before looking back into the mirror. She had to stick it out, it was selfish of her to even begin to think that she could avoid seeing Keegan. She grabbed the picture from the corner of the mirror, staring at what it contained. It hurt, how much she missed Clay, even though she never wanted him from the beginning. Maybe it was her maternal instincts kicking in after 3 months of carrying a child and 1 month without him, but either way, it hurt.

    "I will be."she mouthed back, resting her head against the wall as she watched Kyle & Keegan, the baby boy resting on his knee giggling happily as Kyle bounced him on his knee.

    Kennedy laughed, shaking her head. "I don’t know how Marianne & Evelyn survived, she sounds… devastatingly…. unique.."she whispered, moving herself into a crossed leg position.

    Her heart wrenched as Keegan lunged toward her, and as the boy began to make a fuss in Kyle’s arms, she almost wanted to reach for him herself. But was she ready for something like that? Kennedy watched as Kyle ran his fingers through the infant’s hair before shuffling forward a little. "Kyle…" she started, holding her arms out gingerly. "Let me hold him."

   "Trust me, I don't really know either, she was pretty laid back around me, she understood what was going on at home, you know? It was their Father who was the 'I don't mind if you curse but just don't do it around Patricia." he mumbled with a small chuckle, before cutting himself off... the topic making him feel somewhat uncomfortable to think about, whether it was because he had never spoken about it or just the fact that Keegan was around and he wasn't ready to ever mention what happened as a child to him.

   Kyle tried his best to make sure Keegan didn't make to much of a fuss in his arms but the more he struggled the more Kyle struggled to keep him calm. The small boy beginning to grizzle-- that was until he noticed the way Kennedy held her arms out gingerly. "Are you sure?" Kyle asked, swallowing hard. 

    He was in the same state as what Kennedy was, though he tried his hardest not to show it. The male barely even spoke let alone made eye contact with people, the conversation he was in the midst of having with Kennedy was the largest amount of words he had said in quite some time. "Here.." he whispered slowly handing Keegan over to Kennedy before he pressed himself up against the wall outstretching his legs, letting them dangle off the bed.

"Who else, Kyle? … Oh.”

"You ever feel like a story is coming to an end?.. Well, I think that’s Evie and I… if it weren’t for Jesse, our story would’ve been over a while a go.. but now that we have him… Shit, Kyle… That kid’s gonna grow up barely knowing who I am because Evie barely lets me in the room anymore… I-If.. If she wanted to forget me, all she had to do was tell me…"

"I can't read Ty, but yeah.. I get what you mean. Have you ever heard of postpartum depression though? What if Evie has that? Because she loves you Tyler, you can see it in the way she looks at you. Maybe you two just need to talk about it and just see if you can sort things out... I mean that kind of love you two have doesn't happen more than once you know? And I highly doubt she would want to forget you, Tyler."

      Awkwardly bouncing the young boy on her knee, Kennedy tried her best to keep her mind of what it meant for her to actually hold a child. She glanced at his sandy blonde hair, the feature being one that reminded her far too much of Kyle. "Daddy won’t be too far.. I hope.." she whispered, Keegan responding by holding on to her tighter. She wasn’t sure what it meant, but with Kyle appearing to take his time, Kennedy’s comfort only decreased faster.

     At best, Kennedy had been rather strong throughout the time after her miscarriage, but it was the weekends that Keegan came to the facility that were the hardest for her. "Kyle’s just down in the kitchen if yo-" she remembered starting, trying her best to not be left with the boy, but when Marianne had explained that her and Hunt had to hit the road as soon as possible due to the both of them heading back to Tennessee to meet Hunt’s parents, Kennedy gave in and took the boy in her arms whilst shifting the packed bag to the corner of the room.

    Kennedy shifted Keegan on her lap as Kyle entered the room, the girl letting out a gentle sigh of relief as the boy was taken from her. "It’s okay, he was good— I was fine."she said, the words coming out in a rush as she rushed off to the bathroom quickly, washing her face with cold water to stop any tears that were welling in her eyes. She hadn’t cried after the week of the miscarriage, instead, she held it in and kept quiet. She wasn’t about to break that all because she had to hold Keegan for a few minutes.

    "I take it Grandma Gordon is a, uh…bible thumper.."she said softly, entering the room again as she sat down on her bed again, shifting to press her back against the wall. She watched Kyle carefully as he sat down on the edge of her bed, just by her legs. "Kyle, it’s okay— you got what I wanted, thank you."she said softly, lightly rubbing her arm as she glanced at Keegan, the boy staring back as though he was in awe. She mouthed a gently ‘hello’ and watched the boy light up and say an excited hello back to her.

   Kyle watched the way Kennedy rushed off into the bathroom, and once the taps was turned on, he knew that she was washing her face. He kept bouncing Keegan on his knee while watching her with a close eye, to make sure nothing bad was gonna happen. 

   "Gosh, daddy has missed you so much, wanna know how much?" He cooed, using Keegan's arms and opening them to his little arm span."Thissssss much." Kyle grinned, pressing a round of kisses to his forehead and along his cheeks. Once she returned, a look of concerned washed upon his features. "You okay?" He mouthed to her, shuffling a little more along the bed. 

    "Oh yeah... I remember as a kid I used to show up at their house and she used to drag me along to Church... For a while I wasn't very fond of the idea but it grew on me but still.. There's no one who loved Jesus as much as what Grandma Gordon did." Kyle shook his head, just thinking about the idea bringing a small smile to his lips. 

    He nodded, occasionally moving his knee from side to side watching the way Keegan laughed. "You don't need to thank me, beautiful. Anything for you." Kyle said the tone of his voice gentle, before he felt Keegan lunging forward towards Kennedy when she mouthed the small 'hello.' Unsure of whether Kennedy wanted to hold him, Kyle gently pulled the toddler back, running his fingers through the tiny curls. "Good golly, Keegan. You really are in desperate need of a hair cut, baby boy."

"Who? Evie?... Last I heard she was whispering to Jesse while he was sleeping about how she felt that she was a terrible mother and he deserved much better.."

 "I don't wanna invade your space, Ty... Or bother you or anything, but is something going on between you and Evie? Because I never see you two... together like you guys used to be."

   You're such an idiot, Kyle. He made sure to remind himself as he shoved his phone back into his back pocket and struggling to open the door. A real idiot. You shouldn't have left her there, you could have at least waited until Keegan came and then took him to get food. God damn it. 

   He opened the door slowly making sure to kick the edge of the door with his foot so it opened up properly, a small smile came upon his lips once he saw Kennedy and Keegan. "I'm sorry.. I took so long I got held up and I didn't think there'd be people when I got there but there was..." He took a deep breath before shaking his head. "And I just... Shittttt on my life." Kyle's face went pale before realizing what he had just said. "I mean.. shoot...  shindig... uh.. sugar honey ice tea." he said frantically before putting the stuff down on the edge of the bed and walking over to Kennedy where he took Keegan. 

   "Daddy's a bit of a goofball fool at the moment, isn't he? Don't ever say those bad words, because we'll have Grandma Gordon after me with a cross and a bible-- Don't repeat that either." He said as Keegan broke out into a fit of laughter, the toddler clapping his together. "That's funny isn't it?" Kyle pressed a kiss to his temple as he sat down on the bed beside Kennedy. "I wasn't quite sure what you wanted.. I mean I know you told me but I got down there and started to panic and I just forgot.. So If what I got was wrong just tell me okay? I'll go with Keegan and get something else." He licked his lips as he bounced Keegan on his knee.

Yeah…. I understand…. There isn’t that much to do around here though so it was something fun to do. I guess I just need to find a new hobby or something.

That is true, you make a fantastic point there. Don't worry, I'm on that boat of needing a hobby too because there's only so much you can play temple run or angry birds until you actually get bored.
