the fact that Anakin was so happy about becoming a father but never got to see his baby (babies) born

Don’t think about he spent years believing he’d killed his wife and child

Don’t think about him being trapped in that suit constantly being reminded that everything he did to save his family in the end was their doom

Don’t think about that he never knew he had the daughter he wanted so badly until it was much, much too late

Don’t think about Vader reaching out to Luke and offering him the entire Galaxy and hearing the boy reject him, just like his mother did all those years ago.

Don’t think about Vader knowing his son would rather fall to his death than join him.

Don’t think about Vader believing Obi-Wan poisoned his wife and his son against him.

Don’t think about Anakin resurfacing and being the father he always should have been when he saves Luke’s life

Don’t think about Anakin becoming one with the Force and looking at his children together and seeing what he missed out on

Don’t think about Anakin attempting to reach out to Leia only to be rebuffed and rejected

Don’t think about Anakin being forced to watch his beloved grandson become fascinated with everything that ruined his life

Don’t think about him watching Ben being drawn to the dark side and being powerless to stop it

Don’t think about Anakin watching Leia sobbing in her bedroom alone because Han isn’t handling things well and doesn’t know what to do and wondering if this is how Padme felt when she found out about him

Don’t think about Leia finally forgiving him because at last she sees how easy it is to slip into darkness

Don’t think about Anakin watching his grandson murder his father in cold blood and wondering if this is his punishment for all his sins

And whatever you do, don’t think about Obi-Wan touching his old friend’s shoulder because he knows how it feels to see someone you love - your family - be consumed by the dark side and losing themselves to it completely and seeing Anakin suffer this from the other side is just as heartbreaking as losing him altogether
