List of Giants (male) in media
done for gentlegiantsalltheway <3
A list of every macrophilic thing that involed SOLELY giant man tiny lady: (also categorized because I can :3)
Minami No Koibito: My Little Lover (AKA – Minami kun’s girlfriend) (TV Mini series)
So there have been numerous remakes of this, the original series was first flmed back in the 1980s. this is a story about a boy who likes a girl, and the girl likes him back. each version varies from version to version because of how the girl is shrunk. In the manga, she is woken up like that, in the 1980s version I believe she is fearful of her future, in the recent 2002 version she breaks up with her boyfriend and fulfills the prophecy of him ‘becoming a greater being than she is’. Either way, she’s stuck shrunk at 15cm for the entirety of the series and has to figure out a way to either A) grow herself back to normal or B) deal with what she is and live out the rest of her life.
Attack on Titan (movie 2015)
Now here we have a good example of colossal things towering over small ladies. In the live action movie, there is a scene where *spoiler* Eren actually HOLDS Mikasa in his hand for a few seconds in his titan form before exploding into bits. Other than that, it’s the usual.
The Incredible Shrinking Woman (1981)
Although not the BEST for storyline or even for the actress choice (I mean seriously, she could have been a LOT prettier), it’s good for the her dealing with everyday life of having being shrunk to inches tall, and then continuing to shrink until the end of her days. A good start to any live action macrophiliac.
Honey I Blew Up the Kid (1992)
This one is more child based, but still holds to tiny lady giant men. Although the giant in question is indeed a toddler, his mother is viewed as the tiny one to him, and thus he has total control. There are scenes in which he picks up a car, tosses things and has a temper tantrum. All in good favor.
The Amazing Colossal Man (1957)
Filmed in black and white, this production made by the notorious Mr. B.I.G proved to be another ‘B’ movie on set. The storyline is weak at best, but at least we get to see the progression of growth as the story moves along. Poor Glenn Langan is exposed to radiation and he begins to grow ten feet a day in order to reach massive heights of over 50 feet. Of course, this movie ignores the magic pants trope and instead the guy looks like a towering baby. Although the love story is sweet, and the graphics are good, it’s not a lengthy film. Standing at only 80 min, viewers get to experience a giant man with a tiny woman for only about ten.
Gulliver’s travels (ongoing)
Do I really need to go into this one?
Village of the Giants (1965)
Known famously as a ‘cult film’, this movie explores the wonders of gigantic teenagers (men and women) who terrorize a town that they are NOT EVEN FROM when the authority doesn’t like what they’re doing. A local kid in a science lab invest a ‘growth’ formula unbeknownst to him, and one of the punks steals it. The leader of the giants is a punk as well, and thus takes control of the village because of his size. Note: There is a scene with dancing… LOTS AND LOTS OF DANCING. And people get picked up, and put in between boobs. Yes, it’s THAT kind of film. Nothing dirty, just… dancing.
The reboot of this series (airing first in Japan in July and renamed Ultraman X), features the titicular character as a man with the ability to grow himself to monstrous heights to battle the forces of evil aliens that attack Earth. A very well done live action superhero, but with little storyline. Hopefully as the 2015 version goes on we get to see more done here.
Frankenstein Conquers the World (1965)
Put Frankenstein and Godzilla together and what do you get? SMASH SMASH RAWR RAWR PEW PEW PEW. That’s right, a man who is known as a normal human gets magically transformed into a gigantic ‘Frankenstein’ that terrorizes Japan in this ninety minute movie. There’s a lot of building crushing, fire and pick ups if anybody is interested. Other than that, monster lovers: this is your haven.
Land of the Giants (TV Series 1968 – 1970)
Humans who travel to a far off land get more than they bargained for when they land on an island inhabitated by people just like them… except ten times their size. The series was well done and well received by many people, including a 7.1 rating on IMDb. Available for streaming on Hulu, the series lasted two whole years before getting cancelled. The series is getting a reboot however, but in an unknown future. The stories you can imagine are just like any other.
Animation (includes Eastern Animation)
I’m pretty sure everybody is familiar with this series.
The Secret World of Arrietty (Kari-gurashi no Arietti) (2012 USA release) (2010 original Japan)
A tiny girl by the name of Arrietty Clock becomes friends with local ten year old boy Sho (Sean in the English version) when her home is threatened by a sadistic and possibly insane housekeeper Haru. The English dub is fantastic with voices starring David Henrie and Bridgette Mendler as Sho and Arrietty respectively. Although the dub differs from the sub, the storyline remains the same and artwork is classically done by Studio Ghibli (scenary porn anyone?) There are a lot of pick up and drop moments, and even some nice perceptive views for anyone who’s interested. A loving story and good characters make for a great movie.
Galaxy High (1986) – Ep 13
You don’t need to watch the rest of the series to understand what’s going on here. Man wishes he were ‘big’ (another way of saying the big shot and the most important person ever) and gets his way. Unfortunately, he’s stuck being 200 feet tall and his friends are nowhere to be found. Done in comedy form, there are a few places where he smushes buildings and temporarily goes bonkers. Added plus if you can see the love in the aftermath.
My Bride is A Mermaid (Seto no Hanayome 2007) – Ep 11
The mermaids in this anime are hilarious, but also really bad at keeping tabs on what the normal human is doing around the house. Nagasumi unwittingly drinks a whole bottle of mermaid vitamin water and grows into a giant. He kicks over a torpedo, battles an octopus and even flies to the moon, all while naked. Magic pants are averted and there are some very clever perspective shots.
CardCaptor Sakura (Kādokyaputā Sakura 1998)
There is a card in this series called the ‘little’ card, and the magical power is… you guessed it… shrinking the user. Sakura uses this card a few times in the series, once when she first FOUND the card and had to unlock the Clow and the other time she is in wonderland, where she is shrunken into a small flower petal. Cute I should say, and a very well done anime series.
Disney’s Fun and Fancy Free: Giant Willie (Mickey and the Beanstalk)
A classic tale retold by Disney himself when Mickey is a tailor and must go rescue the town from the giant that keeps eating all of their food. Needless to say it’s more comedic than anything and there are no women involved, just cute Willie trying to get some chow.
Johnny Bravo (1997 – 2004 Ep. Jumbo Johnny)
Available in the Google Play store and many other locations, famous womanizer Johnny Bravo is once again found in a comedic situation. Having no patience for gaining muscle strength Johnny decides to drink an entire gallon of a powder mixture… and ends up becoming a gigantic man himself. There is literally one pick up scene, but the rest is just him complaining that babes won’t look at him. Still funny though.
The infamous group goes on an adventure with the ‘What –If’ machine, where Fry imagines a world that has a gigantic Bender. They play together, laugh, and eventually Zoidberg gets involved. There is another episode where Fry becomes ‘huge’ (he’s inside of someone’s body), but it only lasts for three seconds. Still funny to see.
Spirit of Wonder: The Shrinking of Miss China (????)
It’s a Tv special that depicts a certain Miss China getting shrunk smaller and smaller when exposed to a radiation ray. Her friend tries to help her out as much as possible, but alas she shrinks small enough to look UP at a ring. There are a lot of pick up and carry scenes, and in the end she is reverted back to normal…. Almost too well.
The Batman (2004) Ep: The Metal Face Of Comedy
While this series isn’t the BEST of what DC has to offer, there is an episode where Joker 2.0 finally figures out how to make himself huge and terrorize the city he knows best. There are holding scenes and growth scenes, and it’s a little on the creepy side.
Superheroes: (they get their own category hahaaaaa)
Giant Man: What ant man becomes after he figures out that pym particles work in two ways. They can either shrink the user, or grow the user. He figures out how to do both. Episodes with ant man included are “Avengers Assemble: New Guy (season 2) and One Little Thing (season 1). Although Ant Man is only able to grow in the second season and not in the first, the first season offers a very large Hawkeye for the ladies.
Apache Chief: Superfriends
Part of the superfriends trio when they aired it back in the 1970s, apache chief’s special power is the ability to grow into a gigantic man. This series has been notorious for shrinking and growing men, with Apache Chief being a prime example. His inheritance is felt with Long Shadow’s appearance in the reboot series Justice League where he is seen once fighting Ginormica.
Furries: (yes, they get their own category)
Rocko’s Modern Life (1993 – 1996) ep: Rocko’s Big Wish
Rocko is tired of being a small wallaby, so he decides to wish to be bigger. A fairy rat grants his wish and soon Rocko finds himself in a bit of a pickle as he loses his dog in a sewer. Done for comedic purposes, and there are a few pick up scenes.
Pinky and the Brain ep. Gollyzilla
The Brain wants to become famous in Tokyo, so he invents a machine that will grow him and Pinky into monsters so they can become famous like ‘Gollyzilla’. Unfortunately, things do not go as planned when the real Godzilla shows up. It’s a tad short, but still funny.
Darkwing Duck (1991 – 1995) ep: The Incredible Bulk
Darkwing encounters Bushroot trying to make a formula for his plants, so they can grow big and strong. Needless to say Bushroot uses this for an evil scheme, and grows his plants for nefarious needs. Darkwing and the plant get into a ‘growing’ battle, and eventually darkwing ends up become a skating rink for the local townspeople.
The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog (1993 – 1996) Ep: Too Tall Tails
Tails gets a dose of gas that makes him huge… and hungry… in a village full of hotdog people. It’s hilarious to watch a gigantic fox try not to eat everything and everyone in sight. Done more for comedic purposes, but still involves a giant animal.
Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers: (1995) Ep: Puffed Rangers
The rangers are on a mission to find out who’s been stealing valuable cars in China. They learn that thieves use shrinking technology to steal more than valuable cars, they want to steal monuments. The rangers get a brief experience into the ‘gigantic’ side of life, and Monteray Jack has some fun with cats.
Tom and Jerry: Is there a Doctor in the Mouse?
Jerry invents a mixture that will allow him to get super fast; essentially he’s the Flash. near the end of the episode however the mixture wears off with Tom hot on his tail, and Jerry has to come up with more solution. What do you think happens?
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh: Frankenpooh (1996)
For Halloween, the gang is gathered up telling ghost stories. Tigger goes on a rampage telling of a ‘scary monster that goes shopping in the night’. Unfortunately, Pooh is the result of his tale, and ends up being the ‘Frankenpooh’ that everyone in town is afraid of. No holding scenes, but a lot of growing. Done in comedy style.
Literature: (yes there is some in here)
Goosebumps: Monster Blood Vol. 3
In this volume of the epic (not really) series, Kermit decides to be mean to his cousin Evan and play pranks on him. Attempting to get him back, Evan unleashes monster blood in his geeky cousin’s science mixture. Point blank: mixture explodes; Evan swallows it, attack of the twenty foot twelve year old kid. It’s a good read if you like slow growth and getting trapped in small spaces.
Goosebumps Horrorland: Monster Blood For Breakfast
Matt Daniels is tricked into eating some monster blood that was put into his cereal. He begins to grow out of control until the mixture wears off, Matt learning that it was only a test sample. There are a few scenes where he is dealing with being too big, including busting out of his own clothes and eventually having to wrap towels around his privates to keep his decency. He goes back to normal though, but not without having fun.
Goosebumps: Choose your own path: Peanut Butter vs. Chocolate Cake
It’s a book where you get to choose your own path in the story, where taking the chocolate cake will enable you to grow tremendously, and the peanut butter shrinks you down to ant size. It’s a short read, but still fun. The choices to die are a lot, and good outcomes are few. One of them is that you grow so much that you suffocate, or that you grow enough to be a part of the local circus.
There are a lot more in this series, but keep adding to them! :D
