SPIDERMAN!Oliver Wood x Reader
: First fic! guess how much sleep i lost because i wanted to finish this one lmao. Anyway, i got the idea from tiktok and from this fic: I’ll Always Catch You F.W by @mssorceressupreme check it out!
Believe me when i say i got carried in writing this. Also, it’s not perfect, so bear with me if you find any mistakes🥹 I was half sleepy but stubborn enough that i wanted to finish it before sleeping.
Hogwarts didn’t seem as boring for Y/n when a new hero vigilante dominated the headlines of not just The Daily Prophet, but every muggle newspaper there was. The ministry didn’t seem too thrilled with having some masked stranger do their job for them, neither were the police. This of course, only fueled ‘Spiderman’s’ fame through the students of Hogwarts and everyone else.
Y/n had kept herself quiet as she listened intently to a group of first years talk about his latest work, having stopped a suspected Death Eater from ransacking a shop at Hogsmeade yesterday. She was intrigued, everyone was.
Just as she finishes her food, the door to the Great Hall swings open to two identical menaces. They spot her immediately and had made it their mission for the day to bother her relentlessly, like what they’ve been doing for the past five years.
“Dearest Y/n.” Fred says, slinging an arm over her shoulder. “What’s our agenda for today?”
“Our?” Y/n asks, cocking her eyebrow.
“What’s yours is ours, love.” George answers. “Weasley thing.”
The girl rolls her eyes, pushing her plate away and shrugging off Fred’s arm from hers.
“I’m helping Madam Pomfrey today.”
“Aww, our resident student nurse.” Fred wipes a fake tear from his eyes.
“Look at her replacing us with tonics and elixirs.” George scoffs.
“I’d take them over you any day.” She says standing up from her seat.
“Liar.” They call in unison as they watch her leave. Yeah, she was lying, but she’d never say it out loud.
Madam Pomfrey was out when she enters the Hospital Wing.
Since third year, she’d been helping around the wing and acted as Madam Pomfrey’s unofficial assistant. It started with a detention slip after getting caught running around the Dark Forest with the twins, from there she kept coming back every free time she gets.
Maybe it was because she was naturally drawn to making draughts and potions, or it was the look that students would give her after helping them. She couldn’t pinpoint what, but she knew she liked it.
Her friends would tease her that she was starting to smell like Madam Pomfrey, she didn’t mind, she quite enjoyed the smell of the Hospital Wing.
Y/n busied herself with organizing the tonics on the shelves. The wing was empty, which was good of course, but that meant she wouldn’t have anything to do or anyone to tend to.
As if she jinxed it, the door opens. Y/n turn around expecting it was Madam Pomfrey, only to find the Gryffindor’s Quidditch captain come in. A bruise on the corner of lips, and a rather nasty cut on his jaw.
Oliver clears his throat once when he noticed the girl staring. That seems to snap Y/n out of her thoughts.
“Is Madam Pomfrey here?” He asks, looking around.
“Ah, no. But whatever you need i think i can help you with it.” Y/n turns her back on the shelf to walk to the nearest bed. She looks behind her, waiting for the boy to follow.
Oliver stares at her for a moment before following reluctantly. He sits on the bed, his eyes looking at Y/n as she pulls out a box from under the bedside table.
Y/n opens the box and pulls out a vial with blue liquid inside, she pours it out on a piece of cotton.
“From Quidditch?” She asks.
Oliver freezes for a second.
“Your cuts?” Y/n lifts her eyes from the cotton to Oliver, noticing his hesitation.
“Ah, yeah.” He says, nodding his head slowly. His eyes falling on the floor between them.
Y/n pulls a chair near the bed closer as she sets the box down beside Oliver.
Absentmindedly, her hand comes to his chin, lifting his head slowly and turning it to the side to see the cut. Oliver lets her.
“A nasty cut you’ve got here.” She whispers. “This might sting a little.”
Oliver suspected it will, but the moment the cotton comes in contact with his face, he lets out a quiet hiss.
Y/n’s face falls into a small grimace. “Sorry.” She apologizes like it was her fault.
Olivers eyes move again, from the window to her face. She was close, closer than anyone has even been to him. The features of her face was clearer than it was before, he couldn’t help letting his eyes move from the tip of her nose, to the line on her lips and the slight furrow of her eyebrows. Her eyes concentrated on the cut.
He’d been to the hospital wing before, for far worse reasons than just a cut. Madam Pomfrey was always the one to accommodate him and fix up his injuries. He knew who she was, everyone did. At first, he figured she was just a student who just got stuck there for reasons he didn’t care enough to think about. He didn’t think someone would actually enjoy staying in the Hospital Wing.
“There.” She says pulling back with a small smile. Oliver blinks once, distracting him from his thoughts.
“Thanks.” Oliver mumbles. He was about to stand up when Y/n placed a firm hand on his shoulder.
“I’m not done, i just finished cleaning it.” She says with a soft chuckle as she rummages through the box again. “I still have to close it.”
“Ah.” Was all Oliver could muster as he continued to watch her.
She finishes patching him up in silence. Oliver kept his eyes on her as she did. He noticed how her eyebrows furrow when she was concentrating, and how her lips would press into a line. She’d scrunch her nose when he hisses.
What he didn’t notice though was how much he was enjoying it. Not when he’d hiss on purpose even if it didn’t hurt just to see her face scrunch…
Not even when he hoped she’d be alone when he goes to the wing for his ‘Quidditch injuries’.
Oliver cursed as he looks at the gash on his upper arm. Every move he made was hell, specially when he’s trying to sneak in as to not wake up a sleeping Percy.
He came back to his dorm late after facing a wizard who unexpectedly had a fight in him. The man was reportedly causing chaos and throwing curses at innocent people.
After having disarmed the wizard, he whips out a knife and had manage to cut Oliver. Thankfully, the adrenaline dulled the pain and he managed to capture the man before fleeing before the authorities came. He sneaked in through his dorm window, one he had always kept open after the whole fiasco. He thought about heading to the hospital wing then, but it was too late for anyone to be there… He knew Y/n liked to help around but he didn’t expect her to sacrifice her sleep just to idle after curfew.
He figured he’d just ‘borrow’ a few things… Surely Madam Pomfrey wouldn’t mind a couple numbing potions and antiseptics missing.
Y/n, on the other hand, had spent the whole day brewing a new batch of Pepperup potions. The November air had brought in a few students with red noses from a common cold while coughing their throats dry. Their stock had gotten low and they needed to make a new batch.
And Y/n, the angel that Madam Pomfrey likes to think she is, had offered to bottle them up after the brewing.
She hums to herself as she ladles the potion into small vials. The bright red liquid was a contrast to the warm lighting of the room. She was starting to feel her back ache.
She tips the cauldron slightly to peek at the inside. She sighs, five more bottles left, give or take.
She continues to hum, the lyrics slipping from time to time.
“Hoggy Warty Hogwarts, teach us something please.” Her voice echoes through the empty hall, her foot tapping to the beat.
She finishes up bottling another vial, she puts the cork in, wiping the excess away with the towel on her lap. She goes on grab another one when she hears the door creak.
She freezes, her hand mid grab, eyes on the door. She was waiting for Filch to pop his head in, or for Mrs. Norris’s furry body to slither inside.
Oliver Wood’s face comes to view as he scans the almost empty Hospital Wing, only for his eyes to fall on her.
His body goes rigid and the pain from his arm throbs. Y/n lets out a sigh of relief.
“Merlin, i thought i was on for another detention.” She shakes her head, like seeing another student out of bed past curfew was normal.
Oliver couldn’t think straight for a beat. He figured he’d just come back after Y/n leaves, but his arm protested.
He huffs, finally walking inside fully, closing the door behind him.
“If you’re here for a Pepperup, you’re just in time.” She says, not bothering to stand up from her seat as she takes an empty vial.
“No, actually.” Olivers says, walking towards her.
Y/n notices the strain in his movements, her eyes automatically scanning him head to toe. Her eyes landing on the bloody patch on the sleeve of his jumper.
“Bloody hell.” Her face falls into a shocked expression. She finally stands, walking to the shelves behind her. “What happened to you?” Her voice coming out higher than she anticipated.
“Quidditch…” Oliver mumbles.
Y/n’s eyebrows furrowed, her expression was one of doubt, but she notes it for later. She walks to their usual bed, the bottles in her arm clinking as she moves. She watches as Oliver follows slowly.
“Lift your jumper up.” She instructed. Oliver does so, folding the hem up until above cut. Merlin, It was bigger than he thought. Y/n leans to see it properly, her face twisting into a concerned scowl.
She uncorks the antiseptic with her mouth and pours the liquid into a white towel. She dabs the edges lightly, cleaning up the blood. The hem of his sleeve kept going down. Y/n tuts once after pushing it up for the second time.
“Your jumper. Do you have anything underneath?” No. He indeed did not have anything underneath. To his defense, he didn’t think anyone would be there. He figured he was about to patch himself up in front of a mirror in the bathroom.
Y/n notices the way his face faltered and realized the implication of her words. “You don’t have to take it off fully! Just the sleeve.” She explains quickly.
Oliver clears his throat, turning his head away to hide the growing heat on his cheeks.
“Alright.” He agrees as he begins to lift his injured arm. He sucks a sharp breath in as the pain shoots throughout his body.
Y/n’s hands move to his elbow, lifting it slightly as her other hand goes to the hem of his jumper, lifting off of him fully.
The clothing now bunched around one shoulder, one sleeve still on while leaving his injured side bare… and his torso.
She couldn’t help but look. Quidditch has done this man absolutely good.
Realizing how she may look staring, Y/n lets go of his elbow immediately, earning a sharp hiss from Oliver, and a soft apology from her.
“When did this happen?” She asks, sitting beside him on the bed, returning to clean the space around his wound.
“Earlier today.” Oliver mumbles. He was watching her again.
“From Quidditch?” Her movements halt for a beat, her eyebrows furrowing deeper.
Y/n pulls back her hand, stopping fully.
“But you didn’t have practice today.” She says, her eyebrow shooting up as she looks Oliver in the eyes.
Well… He certainly didn’t think this through. The Quidditch excuse had always worked.
“The twins said so. They spent the afternoon here.” Her voice carried an accusing tone. Oliver suddenly felt his throat tighten up. He was begging his mind to come up with something, anything.
“I was alone.” He blurts out, thanking the stars for the excuse.
“Alone.” Y/n repeats his words. She hums once before turning her focus back on treating him.
A few beats pass by and Y/n had already applied the tape to cause a cut in silence. She takes out the gauze from the box, but before wraps his arm, her eyes come up to look at Oliver, catching him already staring.
“You know i heard Spriderman took out some people today.” She says casually. “Fascinating that man.”
It took everything in Oliver to keep his face stern and to not look away. I figured word travels fast, but not this fast. He had only done it a few hours ago yet Y/n already knew.
“Yeah, i guess.” He tried to sound uninterested. “You heard about it too?”
“I did.” She says, finally placing the gauze on his arm, wrapping it once. “I heard he fought off five men.”
Oliver couldn’t help but laugh, five?
“I heard it was only one.”
“Yes. Where did you hear that?”
Y/n wraps the gauze again, tighter than before, causing Oliver gasp.
“I made it up.” She says, tucking the tail beneath the bandage. Oliver’s smile falters as she lifts her head again to look at him.
She didn’t have the usual look on her face when she finished patching him up. The look of satisfaction that often comes from doing a proper job.
Her look was stern, her lips falling into a thin line. There was suspicion in her eyes, like she was trying to piece things together.
Oliver’s breath catches. He may just have fucked up… The secret he was hiding from everyone for months now may have just slipped because of his carelessness.
But that wasn’t why he looked like a deer in headlights, part of it maybe, but the panic doesn’t settle in fully. He just couldn’t shake how beautiful she looked under the warm light of the Hospital Wing.
Y/n couldn’t shake the thought after that night. The way Oliver got flustered, and how he left in a hurry. He didn’t even bother fixing his jumper.
Every time Oliver visited the Hospital Wing, the next day a headline of Spiderman would be front page. The thought never even came before, but after a conversation with Angelina and Alicia, hearing all their theories about Spiderman being a student from Hogwarts was just way too plausible.
The sightings of him around the city had suddenly stopped when term started? And almost instantly he was in Hogsmeade or the towns near the school? Coincidence? Yeah right.
The idea seems to have found a permanent place in her mind. She was itching to share her theory, either to be told she was crazy or she was right, although she didn’t tell anyone.
She thought, If she was right, she would just be putting Oliver in danger, or even if she wasn’t. People who were after Spiderman might look into it and target him.
Y/n covered her face and groaned into her pillow, the soft object muffling it from her roommates.
How long has it been since she last seen Oliver?
Two days. Two days since he came to the Hospital Wing late. Two days of Oliver never being anywhere she was. Two days of him always finding a way out of conversations every time she enters the common room. It was driving her mad.
The days went on as usual, of course. Y/n using her spare time to help Madam Pomfrey. Spiderman was still dealing with small time criminals.
Y/n thought that maybe Oliver didn’t get hurt super badly that he needed tending to… If she was right.
‘No that’s mad! I’m mad!’ The toxins from standing around draughts and elixirs more often than a normal teenager might just be going to her head. Right?
She slept that night feeling like she had gone bonkers. What if she was putting pieces together that didn’t fit? What if she was just wanted a reason to justify how Oliver has been in her mind even before the suspicion?
Y/n stabs the potato on her plate like it had personally offended her and her family. Her eyes were locked on a boy who sat a few seats down, he was eating his food like usual, but the tension in his shoulders said he knows she was watching.
It was the first time in three days that she’d seen him in the Great Hall. He had yet another bruise on the corner of his jaw.
‘Why didn’t he get that treated?’ She thought, her eyebrows furrowing in frustration at the boy and at herself. ‘Why do i care?!’
“You look like Oliver just set your things on fire.” Fred whispers beside her through a mouthful of food.
“He might as well have.” She answered, eyes still not leaving Oliver.
That made her freeze. The potato on her plate was already a mash, begging to be eaten instead of assaulted. She looks at George who sat across her with a horrified look.
He shrugs, playing with his spoon between his fingers. “You look like you either want to beat him up or kiss him senseless.”
Her frown deepens as she watched George’s grin widen. “That’s stupid! You’re being stupid.”
Fred snickers. “Right…” He says, elongating his words. “Stupid.”
Y/n rolls her eyes and lets it wander back to Oliver… Who surprise, surprise- Wasn’t there anymore.
Madam Pomfrey had left her in the Wing again. It wasn’t a busy day, the usual students coming in for Pepperup and the twins coming to ‘visit’.
She was just cleaning up, sweeping the floors manually without magic while humming a song stuck in head after hearing it in the common room, when the door swings open.
“I’m just finishing up, Madam Pomfrey!” She says, her back turned to the door. She wasn’t expecting anyone else this late. Specially not Oliver after he was actively avoiding her.
“Guess i have to come back tomorrow then?”
The familiar voice carrying that goddamn accent made her stop dead. After a beat, she turns on her heels to find him already sitting in the bed she always led him to when he needed tending. His hair was windswept, like he had just gotten off his broom.
“What do you need help for?” She asks, already making her way to him. Her voice sounded softer than she wanted it to. She wanted him to know she was upset from the radio silence… But how can she when her own body was betraying her?
“Nothing bad.” Oliver says as he watched her pull the box from under the table. “Just a pain killer, maybe?”
Y/n pauses, eyebrow cocking up as her eyes lift to him with a questions.
“Right… Then why’d you sit there?”
It was Oliver’s turn to pause. Again, he did not think this through. His lips purse in a line as he thinks of two things- should he lie? Or possibly ruin everything by telling the truth?
Before he could make up his mind fully the words come out on their own. “I wanted to see you.”
Warmth start to spread from his neck to his ears as he realized what he said. His eyes scan her face, looking for any sign of discomfort, only to be met by her eyes softening.
Then, she catches herself and forces a neutral expression. She scoffs once, shuffling through her box again. To look for what exactly? She had no idea.
“Yeah right.” She whispers.
Oliver felt like he had been hit by a beater’s bat with ten times the needed force.
“What does that suppose to mean?”
She shuts the box with a thud. She lifts her head again. Her eyebrows were furrowed now, face beet red.
“You don’t just- You shouldn’t-“ She huffs, shaking her head with a scowl om her face, unable to find the right words. “You ignored me for two days!”
The volume of her voice made Oliver flinch slightly. His gaze falls drown to the box on her lap. “Yeah, about that…”
Before he could open his mouth again, Y/n stands up and marches to the shelves behind Madam Pomfrey’s desk. Pulling out a small vial with practiced accuracy before stomping to where he sat.
She extends her arm to hand him the vial with more speed than necessary. Oliver jerks back a bit as he looks at the vial in her hands.
He clears his throat again before slowly picking it from her hand, his fingers brushing her palm. Y/n pulls her hand back the moment the Oliver pulls his, crosses her arms on her chest and jerks her head to the side.
Her hands were cold, he thought, before he places the small bottle in his pockets. “Right.”
He stands up. And for a moment he just stood there. In front of an angry Y/n. And for the first time in days, he saw her this close again.
The bags on her eyes were much more prominent than it was before, has she even sleeping?
“I’ll just go, then.” He whispers, though he doesn’t make a move. Y/n answers with short huff.
Oliver forces himself to move, to walk away. His feet were heavy, he didn’t want to leave. A few more steps and he’d be greeted by the cold air of the empty corridor.
“Oliver.” Oliver turns around in an instant.
Y/n still had her back on him, but her stance looked tighter. “Why did you ignore me?”
The question catches Oliver off guard and lands in his chest like a blow. It was stupid of him to think she wouldn’t notice.
“I… just haven’t had any injuries lately.” He says, his hand coming up to scratch the back of his neck.
In one swift motion, Y/n turns around to face him. She strode forward, closing the distance until they were face to face, forcing his eyes to look at her.
She stares at his eyes for a moment, like she was determined to find something. “You’re lying.”
“Was it because of what i said? About Spiderman?”
Oliver blinked before letting out a breathless laugh. “What?”
“What are you talking about?” He tries to look away but her face follows to where his eyes try to go.
“Then why are you getting nervous?”
“You are. You’re sweating and it’s November.”
Oliver opens his mouth to try and defend himself when the door of the Hospital Wing creaks open. Both of them turn their heads to see Madam Pomfrey coming in.
She stops in her tracks as she sees the two. “Oh.” She says, her face falling into a shocked expression.
As if realizing what it may look like Y/n immediately steps back, putting space between her and the boy. “I swear it’s not what it looked like.”
Oliver takes off his mask as he breathes in the fresh air. He was perched on the roof of the Shrieking Shack. He had just finished patrolling the village for anything that seemed suspicious and it was nearly time for him to sneak back into Hogwarts.
He takes in the peace and silence of the night as he sits back. Even a hero needs to breathe once in a while.
His mind goes instantly to her, the little nurse helper he had no intentions of getting acquainted with. Now she was, maybe a little too close.
Oliver’s breath forms into a small smoke from the cold air as he lets out a small chuckle. She was brilliant, he’d give her that. But he couldn’t let her know… Not yet. Not when he himself has only started to figure things out.
Merlin knew how much he wanted to tell someone, to have someone to talk to about his little secret. But he knew the dangers that it would bring. He wasn’t sure he could take it if something happened to anyone he cared about because of him, specially not her.
He lets out a long breath as he stands up, dusting the snow from his suit before putting his mask on again. He shakes off his thoughts as he shoots a web to the highest brach of the nearest tree.
He was Spiderman, and Merlin forbid he falls in love.
Y/n couldn’t sleep. She tried, but not a blink of drowsiness came.
So she puts on her night robe. Unafraid of getting caught by Filch, because what will he do? Chuck her in detention? She’s already had countless of those.
She makes her way to what, in her opinion, was the second best part in the castle, the Astronomy tower.
Y/n wasn’t that big on Astronomy, but there was something in watching the stars that calmed her down. It made the thoughts go quiet. So without thinking twice, she walks up the stairs, two steps at a time, and pushes the door open.
The open walls of the tower made her feel the cold the nipping through her robes, but she didn’t mind much.
She settles on the edge, her arms perched on the railing as her eyes look over Hogwarts, the moon shining brightly over everything.
The lake was quiet, except for small ripples every now and then. The forest looks unsuspecting from over here. Even the Womping Willow was asleep. Y/n liked this, the quiet after a long day.
She lets out a soft sigh as she looks. Until from the corner of her, she sees it. From the edge of the forest a figure comes out- A man? No, he had four long tentacles coming from his back.
“What the hell?” Y/n whispers to herself as she leans to take a better look.
Her hands come to her robe pockets, patting for her wand. The realization of it being empty washes over her like cold water. Her breathing goes heavy as her hands start to shake.
Slowly, Y/n steps back, one step at a time, careful not to make a sound. Her back comes in contact with something, then a sudden clang floods the room. She looks back to see a metal sheet with Astronomy equipment on the floor. Her eyes dart to where the figure was before only to find it was gone.
‘Shit, shit, shit…’ Her blood runs cold as she bolts for the door. Her shaking hands come up to the doorknob when something slammed against the wood before she could touch it.
She looked down. A steel tentacle had pinned the door shut. Slowly, her gaze followed the arm upward.
A man was perched on the railing as though the hundred foot drop from the tower didn't exist.
Y/n closes her eyes as the tentacle previously blocking the door comes up to wrap around her. She couldn’t do anything but scream, praying anyone would hear. For the first time in her life she hoped Filch would find her.
The tentacle lifts her up and brings her closer to the man.
“And here i thought i’d have a hard time drawing him out.” He grins, Y/n could feel his eyes through his glasses, she couldn’t help as the tears start to fall.
She screams again. The man winces at the sound and the tentacle wrapped around her tighter, lifting her up even higher. Another metal arm comes up to Y/n. She closes here eyes tight, bracing for what’s next.
“Targeting students now?” Y/n’s eyes snap open, that voice. He tuts. “I thought you were better than this., Doc Ock.”
The man, Doc Ock, smiles at the sight. “Ah, Spiderman. I knew you’d be here.”
Doc Ock moves from he was perched. He walks forward using two of his tentacles, Y/n still suspended mid air.
Then, without another word, one of the free tentacles shoot up to where Spiderman stood on the rail. Y/n screams as the man’s movements flailed from side to side.
Spiderman dodges the attack with quick agility, hoisting himself on top of the huge telescope in the middle of the tower. He flicks his wrist once, pinning the tentacle to the rail.
As if it was nothing, the tentacles breaks free from his web, sweeping the telescope to the ground with a loud bang, making the whole ground shudder. Y/n’s hand comes up to cover her ears.
Spiderman tuts again. “Breaking school property too?” He moves quick as he shoots out a web at the man, making him stumble backwards. He sets himself down on his feet, using the other two tentacles to attack.
Y/n shrieks as another loud clang erupts through the room. She wanted to close her eyes, but a part of her wanted to watch the scene.
The tentacles attack one after the other. Spiderman picked up a metal part from the fallen telescope as he dodges and used it to swing at the metal arm. It shuddered once before sparks came from it.
Spiderman ducks beneath another tentacle coming his way, he uses the broken telescope to launches himself at Doc Ock. Two webs shoot from his wrists, binding a pair of tentacles together before he lands in a roll. Y/n watched as the arm that sparked before come’s up from behind, swinging for him.
“Behind you!” She screams. Spiderman noticed just a second too late, the tentacle hits him once, causing him to tumble near the edge.
Y/n winced as she saw the way he rolled.
“Thank for the heads up.” He says as he quickly pushes himself upright. It was like nothing happened, he was moving again. Swinging to the other side of the tower to get closer to the man.
Another tentacle, though trembling, moves again and sneaks behind him.
“Another one!” Y/n yells again. Spiderman catches it on time as he takes the arm down, using another discarded piece from the telescope to strike it until it lays on the floor.
Y/n watches as she saw how Spiderman fought first hand. The scene was surreal and if not in the circumstances, it would have had her awestruck. He had the upper hand.
Doc Ock’s eyes snap to Y/n, frustration etched on his face. He was muttering under his breath.
Her throat goes dry as he moves her, not just flailing but deliberately. It was fast, knocking the breath put of her lungs as he stretched the metal arm wrapped around her waist out the balcony.
Y/n’s vision blurred as the hundred foot drop comes to view. Her feet dangled above open ground. The cold air washing over her as the tentacle lifts her higher.
The sound of Doc Ock’s cackling was distant and muffled. Her head was beginning to cloud from the height.
Spiderman freezes. For the first time since the fight had went on, he stops.
Once of the tentacles hits him square in the chest before he could notice, making skid across the floor. He groaned as he gets the air knocked out of his body.
“You were extremely difficult to catch.” Doc Ock says, dangling Y/n even more.
“Leave her out of this.” Spider states as he pushes himself on his knee.
Doc Ock lets out another evil cackle.
Everything happened too fast. Doc Ock’s tentacle unwrapped around Y/n. She screams her throat dry as she fell, the air rushes up to her. She couldn’t do anything but close her eyes, the drop felt so far yet so close at the same time.
And before he could think, Spiderman runs over the edge and jumps.
Until suddenly, something collided with her. Strong arms wrapped around her waist as the sickening feeling of the fall suddenly vanished. The world lurched as they swing.
“I’ve got you…” The voice whispers in her ears. “I’ve got you.”
The last thing Y/n heard before darkness took her was the frantic rhythm of his heart beneath her cheek.
Y/n’s hands come up to rub her eyes. She lets out a loud groan. Her whole body hurts. She pull her hand back slightly expecting her bed’s canopy, only to find the high ceilings of the Hospital Wing greeting her.
The memories come flooding back as her body jerks upright. The sudden movement sending jolts of pain through her body.
“Easy there.” A voice beside her bed says as a hand come up to her shoulder. He head snaps, another sharp pain, she never learns.
Oliver sat on the wooden seat beside her ber. His face looked beaten up, he had a small cut on the side of his lip.
“Wha- Did- Was i?” Her voice comes out raspy, the question dying in her throat. She couldn’t find the right words.
Oliver smiles. “You did.” He answered like he knew what she was thinking.
“He got dealt with.” Oliver explains, his voice lower, almost like a whisper.
Y/n lets out a relieved sigh. Her gaze falls from Oliver to her hands placed on her lap.
It felt like a dream… a really painful dream.
The fighting, the tentacles… The trashed astronomy tower.
Her eyes widen at the realization as she looks at Oliver again. “The tower… what happened?”
Oliver clears his throat and shifted on his seat. “Professor Dumbledore fixed it up…” He says.
“Does he know?” She asks in a whisper, slightly leaning to Oliver for him to hear.
Oliver’s eyes drifted to the floor, hands rubbing his thighs absentmindedly.
She watched him draw in a long breath before finally looking back at her.
The words settled over the room. Neither of them spoke. Y/n searched his face for... something. Regret that she found out, or fear that she’ll tell people.
“I won’t tell.” She says, hoping that it’ll reassure him.
Oliver looked at her for a beat, taken aback by her words. Then a breathless laugh leaves his mouth.
Y/n looks around. Finding no one else there, she speaks.
“So…” she whispered “You're Spiderman.”
Oliver let out a chuckle, more exhausted than amused.
Y/n stared at him for another moment before shaking her head in disbelief.
“You kept telling me Quidditch.”
Oliver rubbed the back of his neck. “Half of them were, actually.”
Despite everything, she couldn't help it. She laughed, starting as one a huff before growing into something uncontrollable. The laugh made her stomach ache, but she ignored it.
Oliver blinked as he watched her amused.
“You ignored me when i got close to it.” She says collecting herself.
“Am i never going to live that down?”
Oliver couldn't help but smile. For the first time in days, the knot in his chest loosened. The laughter faded and the room fell quiet again.
Y/n's smile slowly disappeared as her eyes found the bruises on his face. The cut on his lip. The bandages disappearing beneath the collar of his jumper.
Y/n scoot over the bed, patting the space beside her. Oliver blinks at her once, studying her face, before closing the space and sitting beside her.
Her hand comes up his cheeks, leaning his head slightly to the side to see the cut on his lip clearer.
“Did Madam Pomfrey clean this already?” She asks.
A shade of pink suddenly covers Oliver’s ears as he gulps. “I asked her not to clean that one.”
Y/n eyebrows furrowed. “Why?”
Y/n lets out a breathy chuckle, shaking her head slowly.
“There, all done.” Y/n whispers, closing the box with a soft thud. She hands it to Oliver, who takes it and sets it on the table.
“You scared me.” She says slowly, staring at the side of his face.
Oliver faces her. His eyes scanning every detail of her face, every bit that he missed. “You did too.”
Before Y/n could think, before she could even doubt herself, she lets her hand move to cup his cheeks again. But this time, it wasn’t to turn it away.
The coldness of her fingers were a contrast to the warmth of his skin. She pulls him closer as she leans in. Oliver closes his eyes, waiting. Until her warm lips fall on his. The kiss was testing, tentative at first.
The room felt like it stopped in time as their lips pressed together.
Oliver lifted his hand as it found its way to the back of her neck, pulling her closer as their lips start to move. The world around them dissolving into nothing.
Both hearts hammering against their chests as they pull away, Oliver pressed his forehead against hers. His eyes still fixed on her lips.
“I’m glad you didn’t die.” Y/n whispers, her breath fanning his lips. Oliver could only smile as he goes in again for another kiss.
