Never forget, Izuminokami is (basically) the youngest sword.

Y’all.
Izuminokami didn’t just give Horikawa earrings like his own. He gave him his.
Y’all my baby’s so beautiful
fukuseii:
His brows knit slightly, but soon relaxes. He cannot expect everyone to be perfect. He himself is not perfect. He ought to let minor mistakes slide, as long as it won’t result in a life-threatening situation.
“That’s enough for me.” His tense shoulders relax also, releasing a sigh along with it. When he has the time, he figures he should talk to his brother more. Family is important, is it not? “Also-er. One more thing. I don’t remember my brother wearing ear piercings when he first came here. They’re from you, right?”
Oh. He noticed that, did he?
“Ah— yeah.” Izuminokami shrugs, scratches at his cheek. “He’s already made good progress, and he seems to like mine, so... I gave him one of the pairs that aruji gave me when I first got here, that’s all.” He’s not even sure if Horikawa got anyone else to help him put them in; he just remembers that teary-eyed look he gave when he received them.
fukuseii:
Yamanbagiri himself isn’t particularly close to Horikawa, but then again, he was never good at approaching others. Partially out of fear. He may consider the Wakizashi his brother due to their names, Kunihiro, but what if the other doesn’t think so? While he’s aware that such a thing doesn’t seem to be in Horikawa’s nature, he couldn’t help but to worry, and that worry prevents him from striking a conversation with him.
He was content with watching over the two, but after a while, he felt compelled to ask, just to make sure.
“I see…” He mutters as the other’s explanation come to an end. It’s not too hard for him to imagine Izuminokami being the one being taken care of by his brother, so he figures he doesn’t need to ask further about it. “I’ll leave him up to you then, Izuminokami.” His tone gentle, yet his gaze is firm. Despite the situation, he still worries for his brother, after all.
“I don’t know my brother very well- but, he’s still my brother. I don’t want anything bad to happen to him. I can trust you, right?”
“I... will be the first to admit that I’m going to mess up sometimes.”
It doesn’t surprise him that they aren’t close, though Izuminokami can’t help but think that maybe then, he ought to be pushing Horikawa to make that connection. A lot of swords cherish their ‘familial’ bonds, and while Izumi himself isn’t that close with Kasen... he can’t say he doesn’t like the idea of it. Of family. Of that kind of... relationship.
“But he believes in me, for whatever reason, and I’m going to live up to the expectations he has for me no matter what I have to do to do that. And I’m gonna do whatever I need to to make sure he comes back here, every time, in one piece. I owe him... at least that much.”
fukuseii:
Yamanbagiri falls silent for a bit, organizing his thoughts and putting them into words, questions to ask of the other. Of course, it’s quite apparent that it has something to do with his brother. Ever since his sibling manifested, he hasn’t had the chance to talk to him yet.
“My brother- is he alright? I mean… It hasn’t been too long since he came here, so I was wondering if he’s doing okay. He seems to be close to you, so…”
Ah — of course. It’s probably an inevitable conversation, not that that’s a bad thing, though he does feel a tad guilty to admit... there have been times he didn’t even remember they were brothers. It’s true, Horikawa was only manifested a short while ago, and that might explain why he and Yamanbagiri haven’t gotten the chance to see each other much, but Horikawa has all this time for him, Izuminokami, doesn’t he?
“I have to be a little honest here. A lot of people would probably think that I’m taking care of him, but I don’t think it could be more wrong. He looks out for me, more than anything...” He smooths a lock of hair from his eyes, trying to construct his words carefully. “I think he’s okay. He’s getting used to his new body pretty well I’d say, better than I did, at least. But there are times where he kind of forgets to take care of himself so that he can look out for me, you know? And... I guess that’s when I try my hardest to make sure he’s alright.”
why do you have so much hair, captain, i want to see your face

“Izuminokami. I’ve been meaning to ask you something, is that alright?”
“HUH? Oh.” They haven’t spoken much at all, not that Izuminokami hasn’t tried to make small talk when they’re around one another... “Sure. Of course.”
@kyokuchuu requested a short starter.
“Sorry I am late, Izuminokami!” A laugh is soon to follow his apology as the former sword of the Shinsegumi commander steps into the room the other is. Nagasone was already aware of being the last of the Shinsegumi blades to arrive in the citadel but at least he was there now. “Hope you guys weren’t waiting for too long.”
“LONG ENOUGH that I should kick your ass for making us wait.” His joy is readily apparent, a laugh intertwined with his words, and delight in his eyes — a life without any one of his historical comrades is an empty one indeed. “But I guess I should just be glad you’re here now, yeah? You adjusting to this new body of yours yet? The others’ll wanna see you.”
Go! Izuminokami!

“Haaaaaiii… you know what? Death by Kashuu’s hands is more merciful then having to put up with his inevitable whining, so I’ll help you out with your chores.” Yams sat up and tossed Kash’s dirty clothing into the basin of water. “But if anything goes wrong, you’re still taking the blame.”
“L-LOOK, I’ll find a way to make it up to you. Even if his complaining is annoying, I appreciate you helping.” Besides, he totally could have done the laundry if... if he’d remembered to. He had good intentions...
okitasstrikingsword:
“Well, who’s the one who barged into his room flamboyantly and boldly claimed that he’d singlehandedly wash everyone’s clothing today?
“WHO THE HELL said anything about singlehandedly?! I can’t wash everyone’s clothes on my own in one day—!” It looks like it’s unavoidable. He’s gonna have to fight Kashuu Kiyomitsu.
okitasstrikingsword:
“Kashuu’s clothing are still dirty? Well, it was nice knowing you, Izumi. I’ll be sure to visit your funeral.”
“HE CAN come wash his own damn clothes if he’s that impatient!”
tcmckiri:
“ Izuminokami, have you seen my jacket anywhere? ” And here you have one of the swords whose jacket is in that batch of laundry you started.
“Ah... Higekiri. There was a bit of an accident.”
How could he possibly come clean about this? How could he let himself look so irresponsible? No, the only course of action he could possibly take is clearly to lie.
“There must’ve been something playing around near the outskirts last night. Went to go see if the laundry was dry this morning and it was all over the ground. Kunihiro thinks it might be tanuki running around. We worked hard on that, damnit... eh, but anyway. Everything got kind of dirty, so we’re washing it again. Aruji offered to take us into town to... I don’t know what it’s called. To go dry the clothes, I guess?”
He started everyone’s laundry yesterday and forgot to actually finish it.
