I am all the people I’ve loved
I say “that’s fair” because of a friend who used that all the time. She hasn’t used it much in over a year, but it’s still a regular part of my vocabulary
I wave at every construction flagger I pass because my sister’s second boyfriend did
I drink tea almost every day because my youth leader offers it every time I’m at her house
(she remembers my favorite and how I take it. she only has to ask if I want some anymore)
I steep my tea properly and only drink it with honey because my youth leader’s sister taught me how
I say “that’s valid” because one of my sister’s partners says it all the time
I text the same way as a friend I hardly text with anymore, because she was the first person I regularly texted after I got a phone
I regularly ask my friends for three category debriefs of their days because that’s how my youth leader checks in on us
(high low buffalo - high of the allotted time period, low of the allotted time period, completely random thing - I highly recommend it!)
I send my friends random messages of love and affirmation because a friend did it for me once and I cried
I write out my prayers for friends when they ask me to pray because my mentor does that and it always makes my day better
I put milk duds in my popcorn because that’s what my mom did when we went to movies when I was younger
I kick my leg out before I take off my shoe because my sister does, because she had a friend who would do that in dance class
