Statue of Diana (Artemis) ‘Lucifera’ - Diana the light-bringer, as indicated by her torch (a modern restoration). Depicted as a velificans, her garment billowing above her like a halo, indicating her divinity. Her title, ‘Lucifera’, probably comes from her being associated with the moon. She, like the moon, brings light to the darkness. Diana Lucifera’s name was invoked during a nighttime childbirth. (x)
