I drew Break with the mindset of him being "a character who had already finished the story where he was the protagonist." Therefore, I assumed there wouldn't be much room left for him to grow. However, as I kept drawing him, more and more of his humanity (mainly his flawed side) came to light, and I realized, "Ah, this man is still capable of 'change' after all."
Telling Sharon that he had lost his sight, relying on Gilbert, exposing such a pathetic face upon learning that Reim was alive, and—at the very, very end—being able to think "I don't want to die." Break would probably make a complex face considering all of those things as weaknesses, but I am truly glad I was able to depict his "change."
