âOkay, we can let it dry, and then you can take the tarp off. Donât want your clothes to get paint on them too.â
He reached up gingerly to pat his face down as he normally would, but you grabbed his hand quickly, forcing it away.

She gasped in delight, and gently put it down, then hugged you.

Cosmo patiently did as you said, waiting as you secured the warm orange bow around his back. He only turned around again under your gentle pulling motions so you could smooth out his apron.
âAndâŠthis might be a bit hot, but please bear with me. Itâs caramel after all.â
You took the bottle from the stand next to you, making a quick drizzle motion so it lined perfectly on top of his head.
You poured a little sauce on your hand to dab on his cheeks, then wiped your hands off and leaned down to get the perfect angle to place the stars in, sticking your tongue out as you worked.
He didnât tear up or hiss at how hot it is though, he seemed to let out a sigh andâŠmelt?

Flutter nervously flapped her wings, slapping you in the face every so often and nearly knocking you out of your chair.

She lightly tapped the floor with her foot as if testing the waters, flinching every so often, before she set both feet on the ground and stood stiffly, anxiously waiting for you to finish.

Goob: âFun Partygoerâ
âOoooooh, I get a party hat too??â
âYes you do Goob, let- let me- adjust it please-! Please stOp BOunCIng!â

âGigi, itâs still an oversized sweater. Youâre basically just changing the color of it and adding some drawstrings, okay?â

âYeah I know what a butt is, you have one yourself. Now give me thatââ
You yanked the sweater out of her hands, cutting yourself off as you stumbled back, ââThank you!â
Quickly checking for rips and finding nothing, you let out a sigh of relief, then immediately raised your hand in the air to avoid her grabbing ones.
âNooooooo, gimme it back!â
You sighed again, walking over to the dresserâwell, as best you could with a whiny Gigi trying to trip youâ and pulled out a yellow sweater with a hood.
Placing her old clothes on a high shelf so she couldnât reach it, you turned and picked her up, setting her down to sit on the edge of the dresser and pulled the yellow sweater over her head.
Her crying instantly stopped and she snuggled down into it, content. You let out another(sheâs a handful to deal with) sigh and sat down next to her, petting her head.
Sprout: âSalted Caramelâ
âAnd youâre sure that youâll be fine?â
âYes, Y/n! Now just do it!â
You hesitantly poured the bucket of caramel on him, covering half of his face bit by bit while also making sure not to get the petals wet.
You let out a sigh of relief as the last drop dripped from the container, making a quiet plip sound as it joined the rest of the warm sauce.
The rest of it settled on the tarp below, collecting in a puddle that stained his feet orange. Youâd have to clean him later.
He reached up a hand, messing with the caramel on his face before you slapped his hand away.
âNo! Iâll have to put a new coating on you if you mess with it.â
He simply chuckled in response, âNot like Iâd mind.â

Glisten calls out to you, the bow on his back bouncing as he saunters up.
âAre you free later? I have this wonderful new set of makeup and I think it would look positively divine on you!â
He winks, grabbing your hand and placing a small kiss on it. His nails a pretty pink, curtesy to Toodles.
âHiya glisten, and sure? I donât really know much about makeup though..â
You replied sheepish, using your other hand to rub the ack of your neck smiling at the drag queen.
âOh no worries at all dear, I can teach you!â
He chirped back, moving to stand beside you and tilting his head.
âWhatâre you doing anyway?â
Glisten questioned, looking at the pre-heated oven, chocolate chips, and a few other baking supplies.
âOh! Iâm making cookies for Cosmo and Sprout as a thank you for the lemon squares last weekâ
You grin moving back over to the medium sized bowl with a previously abandoned whisk, going back to pouring a few of the small chocolates into the bowl and stirring it easily.

He purred out, looking over your shoulder.
âWelll could any of those sweet treats be for moi~?â
He asked, looking at you with half-lidded eyes and grinning.

You chuckle, gently moving past him to go pour the batter onto a baking sheet, trying to keep them all at least semi the same size. Humming quietly as you did so, glisten watched with a soft look smiling as you worked.. stars he hoped you noticed how much he liked you- but with his luck.. maybe not.

You say, wiping off the nonexistent dust on your hands before placing them on your hips.
âCookies should be done in about thirty minutes.â
You nod, looking back at Glisten, the mirror took just staring at you longingly. Blinking, you tilt your head waving your hand in front of his face. You could see yourself reflecting on the mirror.

He asks, a curious hum laced in his voice, your eyes widen, the question unexpected!

You replied, shrugging, going back to washing the dishes almost done at this point! Glisten was trying to think, who could it be? Finn? He hoped not! That fish was far from funny or fashionable, not with that train wreck of an outfit he wore.. Rodger? No.. that man was as funny as a worm.
Glisten was deep in thought, while you finished cleaning. The oven beeped pulling him from his thoughts, you waddled over to kitchen appliance. Feeling the heat hit your face along with the sweet smell of fresh sweets.
âWhy are you so curious anyway?â
You asked, glancing over to him, setting the tray down and turning off the oven.
âOooh, just curious on the competition is allâ

You swore you had a heart attack at the sight of little Poppy tripping on the way to the elevator. The Tick Tick Tick of the timer slowly counting down rang in your ears, pushing you to make a rash decision and launch yourself out again and towards her direction.
Your long legs helped you cover ground easily, but time was running out fast. Kneeling down and scooping her up into your arms, you turned on your heel and spun back, just centimeters away from the hungry hands of the monster you would have once called a toon.
Everything blurred around you as you twisted(hah) away, the bright light of the elevator the only thing you could make out through your dizziness. You could hear the little cries of the other toons, worried, yet too small and scared to do anything. You could feel the fists tightly scrunching your top up, holding on for dear life.
With the little bit of time left on the clock, you really needed to run quickly. And run you did.
The blinding whiteness came closer and closer still, and you felt a sense of victory and joy, before a spike of pain shot through your ankle. You stumbled with a yelp and wide eyes, knowing you were about to kiss the concrete. You only had a millisecond to decide what next and the consequences that would come with it.
Through a cloudy haze of tears, you pushed Poppy off and away from you, flying into the elevator before you fell.
Pushing yourself up quickly, you looked up to see several toons catching Poppy. Your eyes met with another toonâs desperate ones, their arm outstretched. Your eyes glazed over with a fresh layer of water as your mouth twisted upwards into a smile.
Sheâs safe. Everything is fine now. You never mattered anyway.
The gooey hands of the twisted latching onto you. The timer hitting zero. A scream of your name.
You were very special. Lucky too. Well, lucky before others discovered your secret.
You had a shield that would protect you from Twisteds. An invisible dome, a barrier that would keep the monsters out. You could walk around freely without even having to worry about Twisteds like Shelly, Sprout, and Pebble. Not even them. Not even Dandy.
Of course this was extremely helpful, and as long as your friends stayed inside the dome, theyâd be fine too. ButâŠthey wanted it constantly. Pushed you to always have it on. And you were growing weaker by the day because of it.
Each floor, your senses would worsen. Before long, you would have constant headaches that made you sluggish, your eyes would droop and your sight would blur. Your energy was always low, and you were never cheerful and excitable like before. You constantly struggled to even get up.
But did they help? No.
You donât even think they noticedâŠdid they really not care about you that much, to not even see the most obvious signs you were suffering?
They could just take care of machines and then run to you when Twisteds found and chased themâŠbut they didnât. They were selfish. Gardenview was just a mess of hypocrites. They didnât respect the lessons they taught kids to keep.
The emotions were overwhelming you more and more, day by day, floor by floor, each time you entered the elevator and exited out.
You only ever saw glimmers of concern out of Dandy as he looked at you from the corner of his eye. His smile would tense, and his eyebrows would droop just the slightest bit at seeing you, leaning against the wall of the elevator while sitting on the ground. You looked horrible. So why didnât he do anything? Why didnât he say anything?
Did he hate you too? Did they all hate you? Yeah. They did, for sure. This was the only thing you were of any use for, right? Right? RIGHT? RIGHT? YOU WERE USELESS. THEY HATE YOU. THEY HATE YOU. THEY HATE YOU. THEY HATE YOU. THEY HATE YOU. THEY HATE YOU. THEY HATE YOU.
Until it all became too much.
The feelings you had bottled up, your needs that had been thrown in the shadows where no one would see them, it pushed you down. Your steps slowed, becoming quieter and less consistent, shaky. Until there were no footsteps at all. Only the quiet thump when you hit the floor. Only the gasps of panic, not for you and your safety, but because now they were in danger.

Itâs implied that the previous oneshot I made(Looming End) was what all of the Toonâs nightmares were. They love you too much to lose you, and so they came to your room to be assured that you were alright.
REMINDER: The toons are not kids. They may act like how children would sometimes, but it's because theyâre very innocent. The toons will grow older, but they wonât show it. After all, theyâre not normal people. Dandy could be 502 right now for all we know!

You woke to the sound of knocking on your door, weak and faint. You barely heard it, but then again, youâve always been a light sleeper ever since you saw a Twisted.
âYesâŠ?â
Your voice was equally as quiet, to match the darkness the room was enveloped in.
When no answer came, you slowly slipped off the bed and padded your way to the door. With a creak of the knob, it slid open, revealing Poppy wiping her eyes. A very scared-looking Boxten was behind her, clutching to her shoulders.
Your heart instantly melted at the sight. You didnât even need them to say anything to open the door wider and let them inside.
Poppy gladly took the silent offer, but Boxten stood shaking in the doorframe.
âYou okay?â
He didnât say anything.
You sighed, and kneeled down to look at him.
âHey. Hey, look at me.â
He peeked up at you, meeting your concerned eyes.
âWhatâs wrong?â
He sniffled, rushing forward into your waiting arms. Scooping him up and holding him close to your chest, you closed the door behind them and turned to see Poppy waiting by your bed.
Carrying him along, you settled him down on the bed and helped Poppy up, then sat between the two. The second you were sitting down again, Boxten launched back into your lap, squeezing his you as best he could. He was so small compared to you, not even being able to wrap his arms halfway around your waist!
You heard him mumble something into your clothes, muffled.
âBoxten, you need to lift your head. I canât hear you.â
âNightmaresâŠâ
The second Boxten spoke, Poppy burst into tears, wailing.
âYou d-died! Trying to save me! HicâŠI was so stupid to trip and-â
âHey hey hey shhhh, calm down. Iâm still alive, it was just a bad dream, not real life. Did you two have the same dream?â
The nods in unison told you everything you needed to know. Youâve gone through this so many times, nightmares that bent and warped reality until you werenât sure what was real anymore. You leant down to squeeze them when another knock at the door was heard.
âAgainâŠ?â
Two times? That was unusual.
âWait here, Iâll be back, okay?â
Poppy nodded slowly, but didnât let you leave before she gave you one last hug.
Walking across the room again, you peeked around the corner of the door, looking down to see more toons.
This time, Glisten, Goob, andâŠDandy?
Yeah, that was Dandy alright. You havenât seen him much out of his shop before, really. You didnât mind though.

You felt your heart about to burst. Donât tell me they all had the same nightmareâŠ
âI am okay, why Glisten?â
Dandy looked to the side, grimacing.
âWe all had the same nightmare, it seemsâŠâ
You sighed, and opened the door wider for them to see inside. The two on your bed perked up at the commotion and leaned towards you and the other toons.
âPoppy and Boxten have also had a nightmareâŠif you need, you can also come in.â
âTh-thank you!â
Glisten tried his best to smile, but it was really shaky. Nonetheless, still a smile.
You heard the quiet whiz of Goobâs arms extending, and a slight pressure encasing your hand. Kneeling down, you beckoned him forward, to which he gladly ran towards you. Dandy stepped into the room after Glisten, but lookedâŠfrustrated? Upset? You couldnât tell. He was always hard to read.
The second you were back over to the bed and had helped the others up, you heard more knocking.
Standing in the elevator again, you hear the familiar creaking sound of Dandyâs Shop coming up again. You wonder if he'll have a medkit this timeâŠyouâre about to enter floor 19 and are on one heart. That Twisted Scraps was annoying as hellâŠ
You think heâs onâŠwhat? Stage 3 right now? Hopefully he has some healing item because you really donât want to deal with a Twisted Dandy, but you donât want to waste your tapes either.
Turning around and walking closer to the shop, your eyes flick over once at the selection, then they narrow. Seriously? Chocolate Bars and- god forbid Gumballs!?
âAw manâŠâ
You take a quick glance up at Dandyâs face, then go back to glaring at the items, before your eyes widen and you whip your head back up to Dandy.Â
Oh shit. He looks pissed.
âAw man? AW MAN!? I take my precious time looking for these items to sell to you. A new selection every time means more times I have to go out looking. And what do I get in return? NO TAPES.â
You feel sweat drip down the side of your face, before you open your mouth to respond, but close it quickly as you see he is right in your space. Your faces are inches apart from him leaning over the counter.
You stare with a flushed face and pupils as large as dinner plates at the tiny red dots in his eyes, barely visible, but there.
âDonât make me angry, Y/n.â
But you arenât thinking about buying right now. Only one thing races through your mind, pushing away any other thoughts.
âOH NO HEâS HOTâ
