WELCOME TO THE WEED GARDNER GARDENS in Gardenside, the Lexington neighborhood where most of the trees were crudely but thoroughly pruned back by the July 20th hurricane force winds of a little summer thunderstorm that spent an hour and a half here with us showering us with plenty of deep penetrating horizontal rain and of course our favorite, hail sized golf balls. Thanks to the hail addition, we’ve got some nicely shredded banana palm trees as well as diced hostas in a variety of cultivars that should look really nice by the summer of 2021.
Bring your chain saw and join us in our downed tree harvest! Take a whole white pine and we’ll throw in your choice of a family of chipmunks or those cute little root and tender bark eaters, the Vole family. Take two Voles and you’ll have 50 before you get home! Cute just doesn’t describe these excellent additions to any garden. The lush green little gem commonly called poison ivy that makes a wonderful border planting is making a comeback and should be plentiful when you get here. Sorry, but it’s only available in our pick-your-own section so bring the kids who will enjoy learning about the fun of back yard gardening in Kentucky!
