Pascal shook their head. They’d only spoken three words, so he probably didn’t need an answer to know he was right. They didn’t understand why, though – if he was having such a hard time carrying a conversation with them – he didn’t just walk away. “So sad,” they replied dryly, sarcasm seeping into their tone.
“Okay, I can tell when someone’s messing with me.” His face turned unamused, nearly rolling his eyes right out of his head. “Why’s it sad, though? It’s not sad for me to talk to a brick wall. It’s sad for you for being one.”
