I hate when people tell me they look at black people and see them the same as themselves - as in they seriously won’t say “that is a black man/woman”. There is nothing racist about the word “black”, it is their identity - acknowledge it, respect it. Don’t think that eliminating the word is…

You’re going to convince me that every black person in America is an African American? Well, I’m sorry to inform you, but you’re wrong. Black is a general consensus of many populations sharing the same skin color…just as people will refer to europeans as white. There are black people from Nigeria, Haiti, The Caribbean, even France. To refer to any black person as African American would be the equivalent to referring to any asian person as Chinese. It’s not the same. We can identity people into several large groups, but of course, not specifically. And while yes, black and white are skin colors, then why do we generally refer to people from Asia as asians? They have white skin too.
