I found your page in your latest scanlations at mangafox. And I want to say OMG! you guys have tumblr! And I thank you for all the scanlations you have done! Nozaki-kun is my current fav manga/anime, and it truly makes me happy how hard you have work for this series for all of us fans. Also, do please add an "about" page for all about your team. I am also curious as who are the translators (which are working? student?) and how the heck can they scanlate with their busy life? :)

you are welcome for the scanlations! we have a members page right here which has info on all three of us if you’d like to check that out. it doesn’t have any real info though lol. all three of us are students and honestly im not sure how we find time to scanlate either.

honestly typesetting can actually be pretty relaxing when u don’t have deadlines (which we don’t! because our free time varies over the school terms and we usually get everything out before the next chapter’s raws are released, which is our only real deadline) and i personally tend to do work when i need a break from pulling my hair out over my homework. which is most of the time. in fact i have several personal projects that i work on when i need something to scanlate and i don’t have any GSNK left. right now we have like 4 different GSNK things to work on though so my little babies will have to wait ehehe

Tribute to my best friend. You were always there for me, through sunshine and rain. When my dysfunctional family was crumbling down, when I was bullied in school, when the entire world seemed so bleak, you wagged your tail and smiled at me. And suddenly everything was going to be okay. We dug giant holes in the backyard, filled it with water, jumped in and covered ourselves in mud. The best days were when we got to go to your favorite lake. You really loved to roll in duck poop and dead fish. I held you in my lap even when you smelled like rotten fish. I had to shampoo you twice and it was all so much fun. With each divorce and remarriage, we had to move and give you away when the new place didn’t allow dogs. But somehow you always made it back to me. When emotional trauma gave me amnesia for one year, I couldn’t remember the people in my life but I remember you. If my mom had gone through with the suicide, I would have been okay because I had you. I grew up and you grew old. Now I’m old enough to be okay on my own, and it was thanks to you. I’ll always miss you. Thank you for the 17 years of unconditional love.

There is another ZoNami Week this year for us to celebrate our One Piece OTP! November 3rd – 7this the officially designated time of the year to share the love for our favourite Swordsman and Navigator! However, here at ZoNami Events, we have decided to put a little spin on it…

We’re planning to run this event as a NSFW Week!

Many other fandoms have begun the tradition of creating what is known as a ‘Love Fest’ for their OTPs, where the week has themes for each day, with the only difference being that everything revolves around Mature content. That’s why, for this event, we will be using the tag “ZoNami Smut” for everything submitted to us during this time.

NOTE: If you are someone who does not wish to see anything that could be considered NSFW, please blacklist the tag for your viewing pleasure. (Click on the link to learn how!)

Now, we are more than thrilled to present to you the designated themes for our ZoNami Love Fest! And here they are:

even if it's a photo, it's not using a reference and tracing is never okay, mostly for the artist because you lose the opportunity to learn how to draw it yourself if you'd rather trace over a photo. it may be faster, but in the end it hinders your progress and ability.

As I said, I acknowledge that it is NOT a reference. I have acknowledged that using a reference and tracing are NOT one and the same.

If you do just trace things all the time then, yes, it’s not helpful. But once in a while, tracing is FINE. If you pay attention while you’re doing it, you kind of learn things. I’m not sure how to explain but there IS some sort of learning in it. In the post I reblogged, she didn’t trace everything either. It’s just that one art.

Jumping on this because -surprise- I am an artist and I spent years in schools and classes going over terms and techniques, even if they never did me any good.

There is nothing wrong with tracing. I repeat:

NOTHING WRONG WITH TRACING

It’s basic and good for practice. It helps teach your hand certain shapes and leans into muscle memory for various techniques. Even some of the greatest artists can’t draw from their mind sketch out exactly whatever they’re looking at. One of my favorite teachers taught us that repetition and practice would help keep your hands and finger in shape for drawing and sketching. Tracing over a shape or form is common practice for some. Tracing over a photo helps you see what’s really there because sometimes it’s hard to tell proportions in photos.

And really, if you’re an artist, you don’t tell another artist that how they go about drawing is wrong or ‘cheating’. That’s not your place. Art is expansive and unique. Everyone has there own style and way of doing things.

The other side of this is, of course, those who trace everything all the time. I don’t know what to say about them other than that I hope they’re learning from it and one day further their abilities.

I totally agree with Rei, tracing is not like ‘cheating’ like maybe the most can think… Back when I was at school (an artistic one) we had in every classes a lighting desk (I don’t really know his english name)

Use guidee line can truly help you, your brain memorize poses, shapes and your hand learn to be more precise.

I used to study in design course, teacher taught us the similar things during the art class. Of course, we definitely take it as practice on improving art skills instead of giving up on brain storm.

Again, the art I’ve done is only as a birthday art for my beautiful friend. I posted the GIF is just for sharing, not going to regret to show it on public, but if any of you think that I am a bad artist cuz of that one and only art, I’m truly sorry on making people unhappily.

Please also remember that even professionals use tracing for their art. Tracing is never bad, the only reason why artists trace is that they can get the result they want for their final work.

The importance here is how the artist make the final product. If a lot of you do not know or realize that artist trace, then please do your research before assuming that every artist is perfect in their imagination.

Also, remember that every artist has their own methods of learning. None of us has any right to tell how an artist should learn to draw.

Hey, pretty neat animations you've made, great job, I really like them! So I wanted to ask what software are you using, because I myself wanted to draw some gifs, but my usual program can't do that. Or could you recommend SW for it, please?

Thanks and Apologies for the late answer, I was busy with work and other stuff. But to answer your questions, I use Photoshop. The ones that has a “Timeline” option where you can draw and animate frame-by-frame. I heard a software GIMP also has a GIF animation option. If you also have a phone that accepts APP you can try downloading this FlipaClip app, its a nice animation software that was recommended by other start-up animators.
