stop reblogging old shit: a tutorial
i am once again crawling out of my pit of inactivity and coming to you as a lifťbĺr veteran to tell you to stop sharing outdated tips.
it's become increasingly apparent that the older this community gets, the younger and more inexperienced the userbase becomes. with that, comes a shortage of actually useful tips. and with that, comes the incessant reblogging of posts from days of shòplifting gone-by, the oldest ones ive seen dating all the way back to 2014. twenty fucking fourteen.
I dont think it needs to be explained why this is bad. the world was a very different place back in these days. what we do has only become more difficult, and companies quickly wise up to new tactics or methods. reblogging posts or making new posts recycling tips that were originally posted in 2017 is going to help nobody.
i like to give people, especially new members of the community, the benefit of the doubt though (despite however much danger it puts themselves and others in). i realize tumblr can be a confusing platform to navigate, and accessing timestamps for these old posts is surprisingly out of the way. so heres a tutorial for those who need it. this is on mobile, but im sure navigating thru desktop settings is not too different.
first youll go to your settings. the little cog icon on your blog page.
you'll find your dashboard preferences here.
and here you'll find the option to show timestamps on posts, reblogs, and notes. it is on when the slider is blue.
just like hiding your likes and follows, this is a very basic precaution to help mitigate 2 things.
1. the spread of misinformation
2. people who dont like us finding us and doxxing us. it used to be very common in the community to use hashtags, and much of these older posts are still under the hashtags. so when you reblog old posts, dissenters can simply find your blog through the notes. it completely defeats the purpose of not using hashtags, youre still contributing to the problem.
please spread this yall
Some unorganized thoughts on clothing and what you should and shouldn’t wear lifting.
1.) Are you Unique? Better cut that shit right out.
Seriously, though, when you go lifting you want to disappear into the crowd and be totally unmemorable. Dark, neutral colors in simple, well fitting styles with maybe a statement piece. It doesn’t have to be fancy to make you look rich. Leave your crop tops and shorts at home, avoid clothes with prominent brand names, bright colors or anything you’d see on TikTok. While the majority of staff might be Gen Z and young Millennials, most LP is going to be older and instantly suspicious of style they don’t understand or deem “too loud”. Classy, modest, and timeless is your goal.
2.) In the same vein of thought, if you have things in your closet that you wear daily, do NOT wear them to lift. The one and only time I got caught as a teen was because I used a very unique, memorable bag. Leave your vintage backpack at home, don’t wear your daily driver Doc Marten’s, and forget about taking that sweater you wear to work. Anything that is memorable and/or unique needs to stay out of a store you plan to steal from.
3.) You have great hair, you should chop it off.
Okay, not really. You don’t need to shave your head or anything, but if your hair is anything other than standard issue you should definitely hide it. Hoodies will make you suspicious, but a fashionable hat, scarf, hijab, or wig are all great options. If your hair is simply out of the ordinary because it’s very long/short/curly, you’re probably fine to simply style it differently each time, but if you have colored hair you MUST cover it. Not only is it VERY identifiable, but I’ve read multiple sources where LP intentionally target, track and profile young people with pink/blue/unnatural hair colors.
4.) It’s always good to dress in the style of the store you plan to lift from, but dressing rich is best. Seriously. A rich person can go almost anywhere, shop almost anywhere, and never look out of place. Well fitted clothes in neutral colors, resisting the urge to give into micro trends in clothes, hair and makeup, and an attitude of utter, nearly unethical confidence goes a long, long way.
“But Mama!” I hear you cry; “That’s not my style! I like my dyed hair and orange pants and I have the confidence of a sea slug!”
And to that I say GOOD.
The less you look like yourself when you lift the better. Play the part of a 30 something soccer mom that drives a BMW. March into that Aeropostale like you’re shopping for an obnoxious teenaged daughter, pursue Whole Food’s butcher like you have $300 to spend on lobster and filet, because if the cops are looking for Karen they’re not going to find you.
5.) On the subject of makeup, here’s another great chance to become someone else. Do you have acne? Big, bushy brows? A scar on your chin? All of that needs to disappear. You know those “clean girl makeup routines,” that are going around right now? That is what you want. Simple, clean, completely forgettable yet still put together.
Remember, our goal is classy, timeless and bland. We want to look wealthy and presentable, but also like a background character.
6.) If you’re not wearing a mask you’re dead to me. Not only are we still in the midst of a poorly handled pandemic that threatens the lives of disabled, immunocompromized, and chronicly ill people across the world, but masks are the PERFECT excuse to hide 3/4 of your face. Lift a few in plain neutrals, but also a few in bold colors for a pop in otherwise plain outfits.
7.) confidence is everything. It’s probably the number one tip on liftblr, but for real, that whole pretending you’re a 30-something soccer mom with an Amex in her purse is precious advice. Be warm to all staff but also act like you own the place. Back straight, chest out and eyes steady, even if you’re losing your shit inside.
TL;DR: Cover and remove any identifiable clothing items, facial features, hair colors. Wear plain, well-fitted clothes in neutral colors and pretend you’re a rich white woman.
Obviously, most importantly, dump and run if it feels sketch. This is illegal. This is a crime. You can and will go to jail. They will not let you go because you’re cute or you donate to homeless shelters. Be smart. Don’t get caught. If at all possible, don’t lift at all.
Golden, all of this. ♥️
One time my cousin accidentally l—fted a whole pack of flashlights cause they just.. forgot to put them on the belt while their dad was paying for shit 😭
me logging onto liftblr for the fifth time in a day even tho i know damn well none of us have been able to lift anything
PSA: You are not the only lifter in your area
Check pockets of clothing for RFIDs and hard tags before taking them yourself. Someone could have used that pair of pants you picked up as their hiding spot for tags. Check everywhere for tags on the item but check in pockets as well! Don’t get caught because someone else hid tags inside an item💓
Masterlist of stores (WIP: Updated Sep. 2022)
Wáłmàrt - Has dedicated LP/AP. They are easy to spot however. Avoid electronics, women’s, baby care, makeup, perfume, clearance, and jewelry (if applicable). Best is kids toys, and grocery. Will chase, prosecute, and ban. Not supposed to call police for anything under $25 but I’ve had friends experience otherwise. Goes for all stores operating under Sám’s Club/Wáłmárt INC.
Mïçhàèł’s - Unfortunately some stores have LP/AP and are dedicated (like mine). Mostly are plainclothes walking around with earpieces and/or walkie talkies. Has alarm/censors. Avoid lïfting in fine arts. Toys, home decor, and notebooks/sketchbooks are a safer bet. Has sensors located around all doors and doors will lock if activated to avoid a theft occurring (some may some may not).
Bôôks à Mïllīon - Has cameras but not actively monitored. No known LP/AP. Best to conceal in children’s isles, religious readings, and clearance. Avoid records/vinyls. Only store manager has the power to call police/prosecute.
Bárńeś @ Nöbłe - Has cameras that aren’t actively monitored. Only store managers have authority to be AP/LP and call police. Won’t chase. But will try to get a photo of your license plate. Children’s sections are best to conceal in. Avoid records/vinyls and electronics.
Ułtá - Has cameras and are actively monitored. Most employees have AP/LP training as you are hardly ever shopping alone. They will follow you around the store. Will call police and some cases will chase. Best to conceal in isles closest to the doors if you want to make a fast escape.
Sèphörà - Mall stores are severely dangerous. You’re better off just going to ûłtá. *Avoid the ones that are connected to a JÇP*. Will chase, prosecute, ban, etc. Stand alone stores such as outdoor malls/shopping centers are your safest bet if you plan to make a fast escape.
Tárgèt - Similar to Walmart but zero blind spots as there are a lot of cameras and can rotate. Dedicated AP. Will chase, prosecute, ban, and case build. Better off to go to one location and never go back after a łift.
Sałłÿ’s - Very lax. No LP/AP as of to date. Avoid corners as there are cameras/mirrors. Only 1-3 employees in the store. Assume cameras are being watched. Better to conceal in the middle isles or the inner part of outer isles. Not known to chase, prosecute, or ban.
Höt Töpic/Böx Lûnch - They operate under the same parent company Sycamore Partners. Some stores my have cameras but are hard to see. Store managers will act as AP but will call district supervisors if a large theft as occurs. Be fast and use common sense. Cameras may be monitored and items are counted in fitting room. Safest bet is to lighting conceal. They all have door alarms and are triggered very easily.
Höbbÿ Löbbÿ - Most stores have LP. Cameras are most likely not monitored but just pretend they are. Be fast and couscous. Best to conceal in home decor and toys. Avoid fine arts and electronics.
Mïcháèl Körś/Káte Spàde/Cöáçh - Stores are small and has dedicated staff to act as LP. Merchandise is scarce and it’s easy to tell if something went missing. Will call police, prosecute, and ban. Hardest is Cöáçh. Avoid Boutiques. Safest best is outlet locations as they are cheaper and slightly bigger than normal retail locations in bigger malls.
Aèröpośtale - (How are they still in business lmao) Cameras are monitored but only LP is store managers or PIC. Not known to prosecute will most likely ask for merchandise back. Conceal fast and leave. Avoid clearance sections as they are closest to checkout area. Some stores have door alarms I’ve seen some they do and some that don’t.
Vèrá Brádłeÿ - Stores are small and has dedicated staff to watch merchandise. No known LP but staff is dedicated. Will call mall security. Safest bet is to lightning conceal ID/lanyards, and small wallets. Customer to staff ratio is 2:1.
GámèStöp - Avoid mall stores. Later at night usually 1-2 people working. Cameras aren’t actively monitored and don’t record. Best to conceal fast and leave. Sometimes making a purchase will deter accusation. If you’re alone in the store with staff they will watch you.
Pètco/Pètsmart - Cameras record but aren’t actively monitored. Avoid expensive reptiles/fish isles. Won’t chase, but may prosecute or call police. That’s if you get caught but they’re usually vaping in the break room lol.
Bàth Áñd Bödy Wòrkš - Newer locations have cameras but aren’t known to record. Avoid mall stores and go for outdoor shopping centers. Will CS you do death if suspected. Best bet is to lightning conceal and leave asap.
Èárthböûñd - Newer locations have cameras. Tagging is currently unknown. Staff and store managers will act as LP. Won’t prosecute but will ask for merch back and may ban you. Avoid concealing in jewelry sections.
Spèñcèrs - Cameras aren’t actively monitored but do record. Avoid lingerie/adult toys isles. Will chase. Store managers will act as LP.
Cłaîrè’s - Newer stores have cameras. Store managers may act as LP. Won’t prosecute or chase but will ask for merch back and ban you. Best time to lïft is while they’re doing a piercing on a customer.
Máçÿ’s/Dïllīàrd’š/JĆP - Stores have dedicated LP and may have an actual police officer in the back rooms (I have first person experience and it was not pleasant.) Will chase, prosecute, and ban you via making you sign a trespass. Cameras rotate and they do case build. Will issue civil demand. If you get charged you may have to contact an attorney. They will remember you as I scoped out the location 3 weeks prior to my lïft. They remembered me.
Wàłgrèéñ’ś & ÇVŠ - Regional LP. Will get called in when a theft has occurred (but usually ORC from employees). Won’t prosecute usually but will chase or try to get a picture of your license plate. Avoid liquor isles. Inner isles without the mirrors are your safest bet.
Döłłár Gènèrâł - Cameras aren’t actively monitored but they will follow you if suspected. They do tag and have door sensors.
Döłłâr Trêé - Since they are getting more expensive merchandise some have cameras. Aren’t actively monitored but will get followed around if suspected. Easy store. Use common sense.
Any stores operating under the TJX brand. (Márshálłs TJMáxx) Have LP and cameras are actively monitored. Frequent tagging and has door sensors. Strict with fitting room. Will chase, prosecute, and ban.
This list is currently a work in progress (wip) so it may get changed overtime.
Love this Thank you!!! Teejay/MRX will also case build and try to get pics of your plates. (First hand experience)
The devil works hard but me making a l1ft!ng masterlist on go0gle sl!des works harder
you are a loserrr if u snitch on people who l!ft. just move on smh
Full stop even if I wasn’t a l!!ft33r I wouldn’t snitch cause that shit doesn’t effect me 😭😭
for now I'm still so fucking scared of st3aling clothes I don't know how y'all take such big things
How to take off different tags. As you can see the black tag is a ÜÖ tag. Lots of people are having trouble taking these off. Put your magnet on the spot that doesn’t have that metal pin showing, and it should come right off.
i STAY reblogging magnet/hook tutorials. useful
This is so helpful. I didn't buy a magnet yet bc I'm too scared tbh, but i honestly can't WAIT to get all the pretty stuff when i learn how to use it 💅
This feels so obvious how are you guys doing it 😭
Practicing my f-rm lol, I think I need a more structured bag tho
Thought I’d repost this here for all of you lovely lifters.
