So, i wonder how you come up with all mafia mottos and lore? Do u Have an advice?
Hi.
So this message is kind of vague enough that I'm going to give you benefit of the doubt here. But I'm not sure if you realise how your message came across. You have to be very careful with "inspiration" because there's a massive difference between consuming something and it giving you the motivation to create something of your own, and taking someone else's concepts/ideas and using them in your own original work of all things. Imitation is a form of flattery to a degree only.
I've had way too many very uncomfortable instances in the past where people have taken my concepts/ideas and used them in their own work (often without asking for permission at all, and no, I don't mean stuff like doing a vampire!au but very specific ideas unique to my work) and acting like it's okay or like they're doing me a favour, and I said nothing, writing it off to hey, it's a fic, it doesn't matter. It's led me to straight-up abandoning works before, if not entire fandoms because of it. I've even had this happen with COA. People basically wanting to do COA but slightly to the left because they like one concept over another or a specific ship. I know my work inside out and these things are blatant to me.
Here's the thing though: I put a lot of time and effort into my work/ideas - none more so than COA - and while I adore (honestly ask anyone on discord) and I mean adore talking characters/concepts with others and helping them brainstorming/hearing about their stories and how I inspire people (give me all the playlists, art, and boards of coa and your Vs), there's a huge difference in energy.
There is COA in the world already, so this world doesn't need another one. What this world does need are your own unique stories and ideas.
Tell them.
