Sailboats in front of playa Pichilingue. The Pichilingue beach has white sand and shallow waters and two or three small seafood restaurants and they also make small trips by boat.

If you are in La Paz, BCS those days until next weekend you may want to spend attention regarding various road closures in the city and suburbs in connection with the Baja 1000 desert-race which will start this year in La Paz going north to Ensenada versus the "regular" peninsula runs coming to La Paz.
Hurricane Norma made landfall north of Cabo San Lucas about 1/2 way between CSL and Todos Santos, along Mexico's Baja California Pacific coast, as a Category 1 storm on Saturday, 21.October 2023. Norma brought heavy rains and strong winds, causing flooding and knocking down trees and power lines in the region. The state capital La Paz, despite not in direct path while hurricane was crossing the southern part of BCS peninsula got hit severe by outer bands of hurricane with extreme showers and wind. There is a lot of damage in La Paz which got declared disaster area by government.
Pacenas y Pacenos - Have a good start into the week. This morning we got a dry moment from yesterday afternoons thunderstorm. Yet there is more forecast to come. Be prepared for eventual impact of Lidia. So far it looks like we "only" get a s*it-load of rain, however, despite all forecast, conditions can change fairly fast in climate matters.
No, not being an alarmista here, just pointing out that we could get some more serious rain looking at the forecast graphics at Baja Weather.
It has been always our mantra to operate "Think globally - Act locally" since we established our independent web-presence at www.la-paz-bcs.com 2005. Yep, it been 18 years already.....
We do not participate much in the clicking and force-feeding you info as common at many other websites. We got a few ads on our pages you a free to visit or just pass by. However, we do occasional point our website visitors to folks worth mentioning and recommending. Let us introduce you here to Zenia, a Cubana turned Pacena!
Some of you may been to Florida which has in some parts a sizeable Cuban diaspora and had a taste of the famous Cuban Sandwich. You can have this now also in La Paz! Starting as of today Zenia offers her yummy chicken croquetas sandwiches. Give it a try! We did taste it and indeed it's worth to treat your taste buds with that flavor.
Good morning La Paz with a (almost live) view from Cerro de La Calavera - Join the La Paz Channel for regular posts from La Paz and Ensenada de La Paz, our Puerto de Ilusion
Roaming the malecon and Vista Coral this morning, bit overcast but pleasantly. Just like La Paz itself! There are so many nice place to see, not just the main "tourist stuff" - we will share with you going forward some of our excursions along the Ensenada de La Paz as expats, long time part- and now full-time (combined 25+ years) residents.
Feel free to join our growing group of contributors and become part of #BCSIN (Baja California Sur Info Network).
Morning hike in area behind cerro de la Calavera, images and tracking map (at end of post)provided by our contributor "Tuly" - thanks for the continuing support to bring fresh and current imagery to our various www.la-paz-mex.com online presences!
The scrubs and greener literally exploded after the rains of the past week what shows.
La Paz is a city of 280,000+ residents, with a dry, hot and extremely arid climate throughout the year. It is part of the Baja California peninsula, famous for its beautiful beaches and spectacular landscapes combining the desert and the Sea of Cortez. The only mosquito present in the area is the Aedes aegypti, which transmits viruses such as Zika, chikungunya and dengue. All four serotypes of the dengue virus are present in Mexico, increasing the likelihood of developing severe dengue.
Read our blog post regarding the current situation in La Paz with dengue here or check out our new report covering a wider spectrum concerning dengue in Mexico including the Baja peninsula here
La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico, offers a wide range of activities for visitors to enjoy. Here are some popular activities in La Paz.
Beaches: La Paz is known for its stunning beaches. Playa Balandra and Playa Tecolote are two of the most popular beaches in the area, with crystal-clear turquoise waters and beautiful white sand. Visitors can relax on the beach, swim, snorkel, or simply enjoy the picturesque surroundings.
Whale Watching: La Paz is a fantastic destination for whale watching. From December to April, you can take a boat tour and witness the majestic gray whales that migrate to the nearby lagoons for breeding and calving. It's an unforgettable experience to see these enormous creatures up close.
Espiritu Santo Island: Located just off the coast of La Paz, Espiritu Santo Island is a protected UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Visitors can take boat tours to explore the island, go snorkeling or diving in its crystal-clear waters, and discover its rich marine life, including colorful coral reefs and sea lions.
Malecon: The Malecon is a waterfront promenade that stretches along the coast of La Paz. It's a popular spot for locals and visitors alike, offering beautiful views of the sea, as well as restaurants, bars, shops, and street vendors.
Another fabulous sunset observed from the CETmar parking lot / Conchalito. Never can have enough of those. Watching the sunset over the Ensenada de La Paz and rise again the next day over Cerro Atravesado rocks!!
Feel free to join our La Paz BCS Channel here.... We update almost daily on this platform either pics or short videos.
Above and beyond the Pedregal del Cortez location in La Paz with Cerro de La Calavera not far a hike from here. Join the La Paz Channel, we are also contributors at that platform.
Another marvelous sunset yesterday evening. Images taken at the La Paz bay in Conchalito area near Cetmar and Centro de Rehabilitacion Infantil Teleton (CRIT)
Today, 7th January 2022, we are 1 week into the new year... time fly’s :)! Excellent weather in La Paz, our contributor was out there before noon. Not to many folk around, holidays (yesterday Epiphany/Day of the Holy Kings) and a pretty severe uptick with Covid-19 infections may be the reason.
Unfortunately today quiet good visible: La Paz bay is smoking again. It’s been a while we seen that intense smog flow across the bay but maybe we just missed it. Feel free to share your observations!
Briefly before sunset time - "official" sunset was at 19:57hr today - a few shots of the Ensenada de La Paz. Unfortunately is the zoom function not overly good on camera used so the further away images somewhat blurry, however, it display what we no like to show: smoking as it should not be from the smokestacks at the termoelectrica Punta Prieta - one of the 2 thermos electric power-plants in La Paz
Important Ways to Slow the Spread ~ Wear a mask that covers your nose and mouth to help protect yourself and others. ~ Stay 6 feet apart from others who don’t live with you. ~ Get a COVID-19 vaccine when it is available to you. ~ Avoid crowds and poorly ventilated indoor spaces. ~ Wash your hands often with soap and water. Use hand sanitizer if soap and water aren’t available.
