Character design digital portrait painting. Characters for the webcomic Grease Trap.

Art camp theme this week was time travel! We learned about a form of art from the past, talavera (a type of Mexican earthenware) with art campers age 6-12. We discussed the type of symmetry involved in talavera and learned about the history and culture surrounding it. Each child was given a square to create the resulting collaborative piece.

Animation with ages 7-10. The theme was "pirates," I merged a lesson on creating backgrounds with animation so my students could animate their own pirate ship across the water. Located above is the example I modeled with them and below are the students results.

Forest sunset 2025

A warm sunset illustration. Sunset landscape pieces are very simple and a great way for a student to feel successful at the end of their piece. I created this sunset with my students, giving them the independence to choose how they wanted it composed but guiding them through the process. Student work featured below.
