FINALLY GOT THE FUCK OUT OF JOB CORPS!
I... am... enthused. To say the least.
I'm about to move to another city and start a job, and Internet access probably won't be available for the first little bit. But once I get it back y'all will get the scoop.
Some highlights:
1: A staff member giving a lecture at Eagle Hour (our weekly brainwashing session) about a former student who reported that his life was going great - only to find out that the student had been reprimanded at work and had a hearing for drug paraphernalia found in his car. Said staffo was baffled that the student claimed his life was going "great."
Well gee.
Maybe, just maybe, when you tell people that Their Problems Aren't Really That Bad, and that you just have to Be Positive and Get 'Er Done, and your life will turn out sunshine and fucking roses, you shouldn't be surprised when someone believes you.
2: DBADA.
Once upon a time, the selfsame staff member coined the phrase "DBADA," which stands for "don't be a dumbass." It used to mean, don't screw up epically. Don't go to a hotel and get drunk and bring back bedbugs. Don't piss on the rocks outside Security. Etc.
Well, it took all of a few months for DBADA to come to mean, don't break any rules. You know, don't wear open-toed sandals in the cafeteria, don't have your electronics out after 10:30 PM, whathaveyou. End result: even the slightest infraction makes you a dumbass.
Congratulations, good sir.
3: The budget has not been cut. Job Corps is a wonderful facility full of amazing, respectful people and if you don't like it you're just nasty and negative. We must all act like we're SUPAR WONDERFUL PEOPLE so that the public doesn't get a bad impression of the place (read: see it for like it really is.)
Our center director, ladies and gents, is full of lies.
Delaying this post for an unspecified amount of time so my identity isn't blatantly obvious (except to the one guy who already knows. Hai, guy!)
