once again itâs that time of year where my brother puts up the Holiday Decoration
Every year, this post surprises me and I laugh.
You know what? Itâs really like that sometimes.
What to do when you feel a reading is wrong
Hi everyone! Iâve noticed a bit of negativity floating around the divination community. And I wanted to make a quick post addressing it! What happens when you request a tarot/energy/rune/oracle reading (especially a free one) and you feel like the reader got it wrong. Thatâs ok! It happens! But whatâs important is how you respond to this! Most readers like myself ask for feedback so we know what weâre doing right but especially what we are doing wrong! So hereâs a little how to guide on how to let a reader know that their reading didnât meet your expectations without being rude!
1. Say thank you- even if you feel the reading was completely bogus say thanks! The reader used their time and energy to deliver a reading to you. They donât have to offer these services but they do and you, whether you realize it or not, benefitted from this reading. Even if itâs wrong at least you are now certain what is not going on!
2. Express that you thought the reading wasnât interpreted correctly in a KIND manner. Saying something like âyour reading for me was dead wrongâ isnât helpful and is rude to your reader. Instead begin your feedback in a different way perhaps like âthank you for the reading! I wanted to leave some feedback as not everything you stated resonated with meâ.
3. Back up your statement- we ask for feedback/constructive criticism! If you say weâre wrong but donât say why you feel that way how are we supposed to learn? Readers make mistakes, weâre human! But we canât learn if you rudely tell us were wrong but wonât support your claim.
4. Acknowledge potential error on your end- Was your question super vague? Is this a question you didnât want the answer to? Itâs possible youâre blocking yourself from accepting the full meaning of the reading. Make sure you analyze that as well.
5. Donât have an attitude- I know itâs disappointing when you receive a reading that doesnât resonate. You ask yourself âwhat the heck is this reader doing, this canât be rightâ. You might be angry or upset to hear something negative. Try to keep that to yourself. If you canât, itâs best not to leave feedback! Diviner are people who work hard at what they do. It can be really discouraging to get overly harsh negative words about our work.
If you express yourself correctly the diviner may be willing to revisit your reading and re-interpret it in light of the new info you provided. Like I said weâre human. I know that if I get info that might change things I give a reinterpretation of the reading. However, the reader may stick to their original reading as they may be picking up on something you canât quite sense. Sometimes readings take a while to make sense or as mentioned youâre blocked to the message. Meditate on it and decide for yourself if youâre gonna accept this reading or let it go. If you get a negative reading and you donât like it you donât need to accept that as your final outcome. The future is malleable and you are in charge of it. Readings are never 100% accurate or set in stone. You can always make the change you are hoping for!
Thatâs all! I hope this helps! Remember to be kind to your diviners!
At this current point in time because of the low volume of readings I do, if I get your reading wrong and it doesn't vibe with you at all I am willing to try again, as long as you are respectful about it.
So I just learned something that pisses me off. Yâknow quinoa? The ~magical~ health food that has become so popular in the US that a centuries-long tradition of local, sustainable, multi-crop farming is being uprooted to mass-produce it for the global market? Potentially affecting food stability and definitely effecting environmental stability across the region?
Ok, cool.
Yâknow Lambâs Quarter? A common weed throughout the continental US, tolerant of a wide variety of soil conditions including the nutrient-poor and compacted soils common in cities, to the point where it thrives in empty lots? These plants are close relatives, and produce extremely similar seeds. Lambâs quarter could easily be grown across the US, in peopleâs backyard and community gardens, as a low-cost and local alternative to quinoa with no sketchy geopolitical impacts. You literally donât have to nurture it at all, itâs a goddamn weed, itâll be fine. Put it where your lawn was, itâll probably grow better than the grass did. AND you can eat the leaves - they taste almost exactly like spinach.Â
This just⊠drives home, again, that a huge part of the appeal of âsuperfoodsâ is the sense of the exotic. For whatever nutritional benefits quinoa does have, the marketing strategy is still driven by an undercurrent of orientalism. You too could eat this food, grown laboriously by farmers in the remote Andes mountains! You too could grow strong on the staple crop that has sustained them for centuries! And, yâknow, destroy that stable food system in the process. Or you could eat this near-identical plant you found in your backyard.Â
so true â another example is acai berry, which is just about the same for you as any other berry. +lots of plants we deem weeds or invasives are incredibly hardy and nutritious! look out for dandelion, wood sorrel, and Japanese knotweed
Dandelion is delicious and can be used in many different ways from salads to drinks. All you need for good foraging with a identification book and a bag.
Lambsâ Quarters DO grow across North America in peoplesâ back yard and community gardens. And, some of us were taught by our seanchaidhean, our tradition-bearers, not to pull them up but to let them grow. Their leaves are richer in protein than spinach, but they grow over four feet high: virtual spinach âtreesâ where you can go harvest the leaves for salad or cooked veg over and over again. Grown as a companion-plant with beans or squash they provide stakes that the vines can be trained up (in place of corn, which in my area is vulnerable to local wild herbivores. Lambsâ Quarters will grow up through a thick mat of pine needles, will grow in drought conditions and in the hard-packed dust on the edge of roadways. And unlike dandelion, which is non-native and is crowding native plants out of their ecological niche, Lambsâ Quarters are a native plant that belongs here. Public service request for responsible gardeners who appreciate and nurture dandelion: please gather the flower heads before they go to seed. Do the same with chamomile, chinese lanterns, blue bells and any other âvigourous free-seedingâ non-native that grows on your land.
This inspired me to do some googling. Quinoa, lambsâ quarters, and orach are all part of the chenopodium group (not sure of the taxonomical word) Iâve grown mountain orach and itâs delicious, I prefer it to spinach because itâs hardier and doesnât bolt to seed as quickly. Imma stop pulling lambsâ quarters and try its leaves and seeds!
There is only one reason why we hear so little about the edibility - and yumminess! - of many of the plants we find growing in ditches and back gardens. One reason only - we donât have to produce them or buy them.
Consumerism is a consciously engineered system to make people produce and consume, produce and consume, in the name of this fantasy-monster called âprogressâ. It is the younger twin of capitalism, and is made to have so many steps between the idea of a product to the consumer, that everybody has to pay somebody else only in order to be able to do something so basic as to eat. Most of the time and energy spent in order to be able to eat is never spent in our favour, but in the favour of those who control the system, and who consume and consume without ever producing anything at all.
How many of you following this post know that there are even people who earn money on the ignorance of people by selling them weed seeds? Dandelion, chicory, lambâs quarters, clover, rosebay willowherb, burdock, purslain, wood sorrel, white mustard chickweed, reedmace⊠Of course nobody tells them that these plants are the same plants that they spend their summer Sundays digging out of their lawn and throwing away! I have heard people say things like, âCanât be the same kind of dandelion, because I paid for it!â and âYes, but these are cultivated and therefore better quality.â Which is true only of a rare few kinds, such as carrots, potatoes, tomatoes⊠Of which up to Ÿ - three quarters - actually are thrown away by the commercial producers. Not donated to poor people or to kindergartens and old age homes. Not even sold to pig farmers. No, thrown away.
The only thing that can weaken - if not topple - this system, is to become aware of its mechanisms and the fact that its motto is a huge lie.
Truth is, outside of this system, all lunches are free.
Shit I already have this in my backyard. Also, about the dandelions, they may be invasive but they have become a staple for honey bees especially in the mid western USA. They are one of the first food sources bees have access to in the spring. If you live in a place where you have harsh winters that bees hibernate through, leave the dandelion heads for a little bit, then pluck em before they go to seed.

ERLKĂNIG
In German Romanticism, Erlkönig is the figure of a spirit or âking of the fairiesâ. According to Jacob Grimm, the term originates with a Scandinavian (Danish) word, ellekonge âking of the elvesâ. The New Oxford American Dictionary follows this explanation, describing Erlkönig  as a goblin âwho lures little children to the land of deathâ. It has also been suggested, that the term may derive from Herla, a figure in medieval English folklore, the leader of the Wild Hunt, (ultimately identical with Woden), but recast as a generic âdevilâ in the course of the Middle Ages. X

A better, more positive Tumblr
Since its founding in 2007, Tumblr has always been a place for wide open, creative self-expression at the heart of community and culture. To borrow from our founder David Karp, weâre proud to have inspired a generation of artists, writers, creators, curators, and crusaders to redefine our culture and to help empower individuality.
Over the past several months, and inspired by our storied past, weâve given serious thought to who we want to be to our community moving forward and have been hard at work laying the foundation for a better Tumblr. Weâve realized that in order to continue to fulfill our promise and place in culture, especially as it evolves, we must change. Some of that change began with fostering more constructive dialogue among our community members. Today, weâre taking another step by no longer allowing adult content, including explicit sexual content and nudity (with some exceptions). Â
Letâs first be unequivocal about something that should not be confused with todayâs policy change: posting anything that is harmful to minors, including child pornography, is abhorrent and has no place in our community. Weâve always had and always will have a zero tolerance policy for this type of content. To this end, we continuously invest in the enforcement of this policy, including industry-standard machine monitoring, a growing team of human moderators, and user tools that make it easy to report abuse. We also closely partner with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Internet Watch Foundation, two invaluable organizations at the forefront of protecting our children from abuse, and through these partnerships we report violations of this policy to law enforcement authorities. We can never prevent all bad actors from attempting to abuse our platform, but we make it our highest priority to keep the community as safe as possible.
So what is changing?
Posts that contain adult content will no longer be allowed on Tumblr, and weâve updated our Community Guidelines to reflect this policy change. We recognize Tumblr is also a place to speak freely about topics like art, sex positivity, your relationships, your sexuality, and your personal journey. We want to make sure that we continue to foster this type of diversity of expression in the community, so our new policy strives to strike a balance.
Why are we doing this?
It is our continued, humble aspiration that Tumblr be a safe place for creative expression, self-discovery, and a deep sense of community. As Tumblr continues to grow and evolve, and our understanding of our impact on our world becomes clearer, we have a responsibility to consider that impact across different age groups, demographics, cultures, and mindsets. We spent considerable time weighing the pros and cons of expression in the community that includes adult content. In doing so, it became clear that without this content we have the opportunity to create a place where more people feel comfortable expressing themselves.
Bottom line: There are no shortage of sites on the internet that feature adult content. We will leave it to them and focus our efforts on creating the most welcoming environment possible for our community.
So whatâs next?
Starting December 17, 2018, we will begin enforcing this new policy. Community members with content that is no longer permitted on Tumblr will get a heads up from us in advance and steps they can take to appeal or preserve their content outside the community if they so choose. All changes wonât happen overnight as something of this complexity takes time.
Another thing, filtering this type of content versus say, a political protest with nudity or the statue of David, is not simple at scale. Weâre relying on automated tools to identify adult content and humans to help train and keep our systems in check. We know there will be mistakes, but weâve done our best to create and enforce a policy that acknowledges the breadth of expression we see in the community.
Most importantly, weâre going to be as transparent as possible with you about the decisions weâre making and resources available to you, including more detailed information, product enhancements, and more content moderators to interface directly with the community and content.
Like you, we love Tumblr and what itâs come to mean for millions of people around the world. Our actions are out of love and hope for our community. We wonât always get this right, especially in the beginning, but we are determined to make your experience a positive one.

Bee mythology:
Ancient Egyptian pharaohs used the bee as their royalty symbol. They believed honey bees were born from the tears of the sun God, Ra. To the Egyptians, bees represented resurrection and protected against evil spirits.Â
Druids believed that bees represented the sun, the Goddess, celebration, and community.
The Greeks thought that a babies whose lips where touched by a bee would become a great poet or a great speaker. In ancient Greece it was also thought that they symbolized industry, hard work, messengers of the dead, and obedience. Honey was often used as an offering to their Gods. They also believed bees were the surviving souls of the priestesses who served the Goddess Aphrodite.Â
They have been seen as a symbol of sacredness and could be associated with the Great Mother or Divine feminine. The Mother can be symbolized as the queen bee.Â
In Celtic mythology honey bees had great wisdom and thought to be messengers between worlds. Honey was sacred and used in rituals.
In some cultures they can be associated with purity, health, and wealth. Some also believed bees were a symbol of the human soul.

Bees in Magick:
Bees are closely associated with the fae and their presence in gardens which indicates blessings of fae. Encourage the bees, by putting up bee houses, hives, planting bee-friendly plants and waterers and not using pesticides. Thus, encouraging the blessings from the fae, while harming bees can anger them and cause them to seek revenge.Â
The symbol of a bee can be used to seal a spell with sweetness for one who appreciates good will and a sting for one who takes it for granted or doesnât keep his end of the bargain.Â
Honey stirred into your tea can âsweetenâ your day.Â
Honey is used often in magick to sweeten a situation.
Anointing your lips with honey will make your words sound sweeter.Â
Bees in your dreams:
May be a good omen.
Bees in your dreams may be telling you to take a look at your social networks. They may be pointing toward a desire for more harmonious and functional relationships, or celebrating the ones you already have.
A visit from a bee in a dream may also be notifying you that a friend or family member needs to speak with you. You will know as this person will also pop into your mind somehow. It means call them or perhaps, that you will hear from them soon.
Dreaming of a beehive usually relates to the home and family or your business and coworkers. A happy, buzzing hive means a happy, buzzing home. It may foretell incoming abundance, and fruitful times ahead. If the bees are swarming around the hive, rather than working in it, proceed with caution. There is a lack of harmony that is interfering with productivity.
A swarm of bees may indicate that you feel that a group of people upon whose cooperation you rely is becoming chaotic and out of control. Perhaps the need to balance your own interactions with your different business and social groups for your own sanity.
Beehives bring to mind abundance and prosperity: bees seem to work hard and are rewarded by flowing stores of honey. An empty beehive, then, represents the opposite: lost opportunity and financial misfortune.
A beehive can also represent a home. The fullness or emptiness of the beehive may indicate unconscious feelings about family life, marriage, children, or the house itself. Honey may represent your property or belongings.
A beehive on fire or burned bees are often interpreted depending on your emotional and physical condition. Burned bees may mean you are overcoming fear and want to take control of life and anger, are youâre progressing through life with more confidence without any fear of obstacles. Burned beehives can also mean you have lost something precious, like money, a relationship, or some valuable information that youâve forgotten or ignored.
If a bee or a swarm of bees is chasing you in dream, it may mean there is some unsettled business or a memory that haunts you. Make sure you let it go from your mind or deal with it in order to avoid these bees.
If you dream about getting a bee sting then something may be bothering you, or you have a persistent annoyance in your life. Concerns about your relationship, career, finance, or some unknown issue is bugging your subconscious mind. Find out what it is and sort it out.
Magickal uses for Honey:
Can be used in binding spells to symbolically stick things together.
Used for offerings to fae and deities.
Can sweeten a person or a situation.
 Honey is sacred to Aphrodite.
Can be used in spells corresponding to purification, health, love, happiness, spirituality, wisdom, good fortune, fertility,Â
Use certain types of honey that corresponded with your spell.
Bathe in warm water and honey to attract love.
A dish filled with honey can attract angels and beneficial spirits.
Do your part to save the bees they are an important part of our life and in our magick practices.Â
May the moon light your path!

Honey bees do sleep.. other than that this is pretty accurate. Also, dandelions are some of the first food in the spring that honey bees have access to, so think before spraying them with weed killer.
When I explain cultural misappropriation to children, I use the example of The Nightmare Before Christmas. Â
Itâs effective because especially for children, who donât have enough historical context to understand much of the concept, you can still fully grasp the idea. Â
There was nothing wrong with Jack seeing the beauty and differences in Christmas town, itâs when he tried to take what is unique about Christmas town away from those it originally belonged to without understanding the full context of Christmas things is when everything went wrong.
When Jack tries to get the folk of Halloween town to make Christmas gifts for children, etc., children understand that the Halloween town folk do not have the full context for the objects they are making, and they are able to see that the direct repercussions and consequences are very harmful.
what i like about this is the implication that if jack had taken the time to understand christmas town, bringing christmas to halloween town would not have been harmful. thatâs how it works, folks. cultural sharing is GOOD, itâs only misappropriation when itâs done in ignorance and disrespect.
Thereâs an interesting level here in that Jack tried to understand Christmas town. He could see the magic while he was there, and he did try to explain it that way to citizens of Halloween town.  But they werenât interested in the kind of life he was describing, so he started ârebrandingâ Christmas so that it was not like Christmas but was like Halloween. The people of Halloween town, never having actually encountered Christmas, have no way of knowing that what theyâre being told about Christmas and âSandy Clawsâ is inaccurate. Jack also tried to study Christmas and its culture, though he couldnât quite get it; eventually, he literally decides to take it for himself, even as he knows itâs not really for him.  He started out feeling sad the others in Halloween town didnât âget it,â but he then decided itâs not important to fully âget itâ but instead to have it.
So itâs not just accidentally removing things form their context; he has intentionally disregard the meaning of the rituals he purports to be recreating, making them more fun for the recreaters but not like what the rituals are supposed to be and without the related significance.
This is the best way to conceptualize the wrong way to share culture I have ever seen and I think I finally get where people are coming from when they talk about âcultural appropriation.â
This is an EXCELLENT explanation through example!
This is PERFECT. Iâm using this in my classroom.
