An Autopsy of LabyrinthClan V.1 and Going Forward

Hello everyone! It's been... aw crap nearly 6 months. When did that happen?

Progress on V.2 has been slow but not non-existent. So I'm going to go into what made V.1 fail and what I'm planning to do now.

1. A Lack of Planning

I started posting the comic literally the same day I thought of it. That was a very bad move 😭 because I didn't know where it was going and what I was going to do (I hadn't even played ahead in clangen what was wrong with me lol) I quickly ran out of ideas and motivation.

2. Not Using A Backlog

When I did run out of ideas and motivation, that was it and I had nothing left to post.

3. Popspeckle

No I'm not kidding. This guy's design was too complicated and was enough to put me off drawing. I love his sprite but he desperately needed to be simplified more.

So, now what?

Progress on V.2 has so far been redesigns and planning. A lot of planning. I now have the general idea for the entire story planned out, and most of the early moons. However, now I have two things I'm considering. I'll reblog this post with polls in a minute.

Should LabyrinthClan V.2 still be Warrior Cats?

Yes

No

At this point, the only thing still connecting it to warrior cats is that RImestar lived outside in a group of cats, DewClan hardly even comes up in the story.

Pros: More creative freedom to do what I want, the random accessories make more sense.

Cons: Not really a clangen comic anymore.

What style of page should I use?

Comic (Same as before)

Journal/PATFW Style

Pros of comic: More art of the characters, ability to show off the environment.

Cons of comic: Takes much longer, there will be a lot of characters just standing around and talking.

Pros of journal: Easier for me and faster, more detailed dialogue and inner thoughts because I no longer have to try to fit them around images.

Cons of journal: Less art of the characters, less environments shown.

1 Page at a time

An entire Moon all at once

Pros of 1 page: More frequent updates

Cons of 1 page: May lead to a confusing/unsatisfying cliffhanger if I lose motivation.

Pros of an entire moon: You can read an entire chunk of the story all at once!

Cons of an entire moon: Less frequent updates. Very infrequent. Likely months in between them.
