What: Coming back with a specimen
When: A quite cold evening
Where: From the chilly outside, to a bit of a warmer rec room
Madison was quiet as she walked around a small perimeter she had set out for herself, barely outside of the open doors where a small patch of red was. It wasn’t even a full square foot, but she was curious what it was growing, right there, and as far as she could tell, right there only. With Kirby locking his door, and her lock picking skills clearly nonexistent, she would have to create work for herself that didn’t involve growing bored within ten minutes of it, or figuring it out just as quickly. Sometimes she almost wondered if she were over qualified for this job…
The wind was picking up quickly, so she finished up, shivering already as she sealed up the back and tilted her head at the heaviness of it. It seemed to be obviously plant-like, but it felt far to heavy to be one all the same. She assumed the dirt she took with it was just dense and ignored the fact as she covered up the hole she made as best she could. She didn’t like leaving a place in ruin. It didn’t look pristine, and that simply wouldn’t do.
After getting her things back to the lab, she hid it by the small cubby Kirby gave her by his office. If it could withstand being outside, it can withstand sitting there until everyone else is gone. She shivered again, rubbing her hands against her sleeved arms, the sweater not doing much good. Slipping once more past the others, who she was sure by this point has figured out to leave her be, she made her way quietly to the rec room.
Once there, she made a face at someone sleeping in her normal spot by the stereo. That didn’t deter her as she used a foot to slide them on down the window seat, as far down as possible and then after cleaning off her spot with a paper towel, she sat down and relaxed by the music; curled up where she felt a heat source blowing lightly against her cheek.
Lachlan hadn't intended to fall asleep, certainly not in the rec room at least, he had his own bed for that. He'd come in here looking for someone to chat to who he could hopefully lure into a game of cards or pool. Only the place had been virtually empty and the few faces there had been were either total strangers or people Lachlan already knew he had no hope of getting a game out of.
Normally something like that wouldn't be a deterrent to him, generally the more standoffish a person was the more he made it his personal mission to joke around with them, everyone's icy demeanor had a breaking point. But today he was just feeling too lethargic to put much effort in so he'd tucked himself away in a warm corner. One thing had lead to another and suddenly he was curled on his side and completely dead to the world.
He was woken up by the feeling of something prodding him in the side and nudging at him. It was annoying whatever it was, digging uncomfortably into his ribs and Lachlan grumbled and swatted at it.
Roused from his nap, he cracked an eye open to find a girl wiping down the spot he'd just been lying in, then she sat down. Yawning, Lachlan slowly uncurled his legs from under him and sat up. He peered around at the rest of the rec room, taking in all the empty spaces that she could have sat but chose not to.
He turned back to the girl, blinking at her quizzically. "Did you just... move me with your foot?" he asked, still not entirely certain that that had actually happened.
