lately (partly thanks to your fics), I've been increasingly attracted to maxcar and their dynamics, how much Oscar is becoming gentle with Max is just a miracle, my kitten has finally learned the warmth and affection of a strong man 😭🙏🏻
and it's really interesting what you think about the dynamics of landoscar, because I think they have a deeper relationship than everyone sees them. for some reason, many fiction writers see their dynamics as a dumb alpha Oscar (alpha Oscar is a worldwide misconception and you won't change my mind) and Lando as a bottom idiot who will easily fall under Oscar, but this is not the case at all. If it's normal to see their dynamics, then in reality their relationship is about toxicity, love/hate, obstacles and rivalry. and if anything, it's clearly not Oscar who dominates their duo i think Lando is a dumb top who hasn't figured out his feelings for Oscar, Oscar lets Lando do a lot because he feels something for him. in general, it's better when Lando and Max are fighting for the Oscar, the jealous Lando (or Max, who knows) does something unreal to me

second: i 100% agree with your thoughts on landoscar. i think the reason it struggles to move me is that the main narrative is dom/alpha/top oscar x omega/sub/bottom lando and that is just not true. your honor that australian twunk is an OMEGA. a BOTTOM. you expect me to believe the guy who follows around every driver on the grid like a lost puppy with those, as hudson mildred williams said, “bottom little yearning eyes” is an alpha top? get a grip.
him and lando’s relationship is so complicated i’m scared of writing it. (maxcar akgaes look away, i’m indulging myself) like it’s devotion to each other as teammates and friends, but also this immutable rivalry and jealousy while the ghosts of rb multi21 and the silver wars hang over their heads. they’re terrified of destroying one of the only consistent things in their lives, yet so drawn to each other that ignoring it is impossible.
you are absolutely right that lando is openly going insane about it but also so dense he’s still in denial. and oscar just lets him do whatever because he still has this stupid teenage crush on him. lando is literally always in oscar’s space whether it’s at drivers’ parades, in the paddock, or in the garage and oscar lets him because if lando’s the one initiating he can ignore how much he craves it and seeks it out. someone get a couch, i’m going to faint.
and when you add in max? max who oscar can be a homebody with and always seems to find oscar whenever things are bad between him and lando? max who lando has always had this weird rivalry/friendship with? things get infinitely more complicated. max has everything, and he still wants oscar, the one thing lando has for himself. his teammate. and max doesn’t see anything wrong with pursuing oscar, not when lando is being so weird about his feelings and unable to do something concrete. not when oscar is so pretty and sweet in the paddock and fascinating when he races. whether this is influenced by team dynamics, the weird norris/verstappen rivalry, or just plain old alpha squabbling, i eat it up every time. oh god, i’m on a tangent.
all this to say i love that we have similar brainwaves about this. i am so very normal about their dynamics. completely normal. not obsessed at all.
