I really liked the ember armor headpiece, but I wanted Link's bangs back in front of his face and then I just ended up drawing him like so. I guess he's Dragon Link now.

Thank you! It took me a million years to figure out how to draw him with his hair up and in a way I liked, so I’m glad other people appreciate how he came out. Though I do like drawing him with his hair down a lot simply because I love long flowy hair. But yes, it’s true, all Senkus are the best Senkus~<3 Objective fact! Law of the universe, even!

When it came to picturing Ruby as an assassin, I always pictured it as something akin to Yor in which she's actually a nice person whom also happen to be an extremely deadly assassin. But her being cold and jaded would make for a fun dynamic with Oscar since he could melt her heart. I'm a sucker for that trope.

Honestly, I like both concepts. Positive, kind, Yor-Ruby and cold, hard action flick Ruby. Who said AUs could only take one path?

But I thought about it last night, and for an RG assassin AU, I imagined it would be neat if Oscar played the role of Ruby’s navigator or provided some kind of technical support and they could have quippy banter over some kind of hidden frequency. Maybe he’d fit into the role of omni-skilled computer guy/engineer/hacker? Oscar wouldn’t be quite as jaded as Ruby, but he would be kind of world weary (and maybe a little paranoid given his profession) which would be comfortable for the jaded Ruby because she won’t have to pretend with him like she would for other people. He already knows who she is and what she does. They both like the relationship because they can play at being ‘normal together’ even though neither of them feels that way about their lives, circumstances, and occupations. A little slice of everyday solace among a life of murder and corpses.

(Tech guy Oscar definitely has some sort of anonymous rivalry/competition with mysterious underground hacker P.E.N.N.Y whose calling card is ‘Salutations.’)

Obviously, he goes by the alias ‘Oz’, a title passed down from mysterious mentor to mentee from time immemorial. I’d say Ruby’s would be ‘Silver Eye’ because well, her eyes are silver and a sniper is obviously the eyes of an operation, but that runs up against the collective consciousness of that Bond film Goldeneye and that’s a level of referential cringe I am unprepared for and I don’t want that. I’ll have to think about it.

…And that’s all the ideas I came up with before falling asleep.

Ooooooo! So basically a Ruby assasin AU? Reminds me of a RG Assasin AU idea I have that I never fleshed out to much 😅 (really should get back to that idea).

Yeah! Absolutely a Ruby assassin AU. Though using the term ‘hired killer’ definitely put me personally in mind of those Hollywood action flicks where everyone is incredibly emotionally stunted and there’s a million explosions.

*clenches fist dramatically*

…Ruby with a leather jacket and sunglasses walking away from an explosion with her only friend in her arms, that is, her gun…

Anyway, you know, sometimes you just need an idea to percolate for a bit before you do anything with it, so take things at your own pace. I’m sure people would love it though!

It only took five billion years, but here’s chapter 15. It’s mostly a lot of people thinking thinky thoughts about Oscar.

Title: Lost Parallax

Fandom: RWBY

Pairings: Oscar/Ruby, (other background ships like Renora or Blake/Yang.)

Romance isn’t my primary focus, however, so it’s all pretty slow burn. But if you’re a person like me and you like relationships really very slowly built up over time, then your alley is right here.

Summary: A “probably, maybe, most likely” post-vol 7 version Oscar time travel fic where he tries to prevent the Fall of Beacon and maximize his future knowledge against Salem by attending Beacon and trying to get past-Ozpin on his side. The trouble is… he doesn’t know the key pieces for how Beacon fell in the first place and time is running out.

If you like the concept of Ozdad then this is probably the fic for you.
