Shortly after Sasha released us from our cell in the dungeon, we were confronted by Darcy. Sasha panicked at the idea of attacking her friend, and ended up taking a strike of their blade to the face. Yunan managed to hold them off long enough for the three of us to escape. We have retreated to Wartwood, where Sasha continues to receive treatment for her injures. She lost an eye, along with quite a lot of blood, but seems to be recovering well. One of the frogs here is a curse user and has been brewing potions for the pain and to help the wound heal.

You are correct, she did. Sasha split off from the main group and we retreated together. Her injury was the worst any of the group received; everyone else made it back in one piece.

I worry about Marcy… I do hope that one day, we will find ourselves able to save her, to find a way for us to live out of harm’s way, but every moment we wait, I fear that she slips further away from us. Who knows if there will be anything left when the Core is through with her? We hear what it does to her at night when King Andrias isn’t around, how afraid she was in her last seconds free…

We must succeed, next time. I cannot help but blame myself for all this suffering.

Hello, Anne. I’m glad to hear you’re alive and well.

General Yunan and I have been in prison on charge of treason for the last two months, since our disastrous attempt to rescue Marcy Wu. Her fate under the Core’s control is horrible and wholly undeserved. I deeply regret ever trusting him as my king, and wish we’d had the idea to save her sooner. It seems that the walls between the dungeons and the Core’s chamber are not thick. We should have been able to prevent this.
