“Why thank you, its an involuntary occurrence of life.” He mused with a coy smile. “Thanks. Its going pretty good, figured I’d get here early so I could spend some time with Gage before my roommate starts watching my every move. Unless he gets too occupied with Abel.”

Paige squeaked with excitement, bouncing on the balls of her feet. “No, you have to open it now because I can’t wait to see your face when you do!” Giving gifts had always been something she’d enjoyed. Namely the joy it brought to others. “Well, there are a few people I’m hoping to dance with, but I’m cool with whatever happens.” 

“Alright, alright!” Giles laughed, shaking his head lightly as he concentrated on carefully undoing the wrapping. When he had the stained glass in hand, he went quiet, gently turning it this way and that. “That’s gorgeous. I-- thank you. How do you even make these?” He asked, impressed. “There’s no harm in asking, its the last day of school. Live a little. But right now I need to hug you, if that’s cool.”

“Yeah,” their head lolled to the side, giggling at the return comment. “You wouldn’t believe how he asked.” They leaned in a bit closer to stage whisper, “twitter.” Withdrawing again, their brows bounced as Giles complimented them. Taking a step back, Gage did a little spin to show off their outfit before bowing to Giles in a wide sweeping gesture, one arm outstretched while the other was pressed against their chest. “Why thank you kind sir.” They chirped. Straightening up, laughter spilling from their lips, there was a distinct blush coating their cheeks. “Now, can I give the birthday guy a hug or what?” They prompted, holding their arms out wide to the other.

He gasped scandalously, placing a hand against his chest “twitter? The nerve.” But when they withdrew to show off, his hand enclosed on his shirt as he laughed lowly, “oh. I’m so gay.” He mostly said to himself, in self admission. People were too pretty. Gage was too pretty. “Please.” He agreed, immediately stepping close to wrap his arms around them tightly, lessening the pressure after a few long seconds. “Were you waiting long?”

Whirling around, Gage lit up, grin wide across their cheeks upon seeing their date. “He’s very smooth,” they continued, eyes crinkling up. “-and the most beautiful person here.” The youngest Banner winked, hands tucking into their slack pockets as they rocked back on their heels. 

“Oh yeah?” Giles managed to not dissolve into a full body blush, grinning at them. “Well gee, he must be if he got someone like you to be his date. In the mean time, I’m more than happy to take his place.” He quirked his eyebrows up, slightly nodding at her. “You look-- really fucking good, by the way.”

“Technically I didn’t,” she mused, lightly nudging him. “I made that with my own bare hands. Sort of. You’ll get it when you see it.” Paige shrugged lightly, letting her gaze scan the room. “I mean, I came alone and haven’t done much yet, but that means the best is yet to come, right?”

Giles gently laid his hand over his heart, curious about it all now. “Do I have to wait to open it or...?” He tried for, following her gaze at she looked around. “Right. I mean, I came alone in my second year, so its fine. Nothing wrong with stag.”

“I’m really hoping it’s you, otherwise the surprise birthday gift might not make much sense,” Paige teased, grinning at him as she handed over the small package. “And while I haven’t seen them, I don’t mind helping you search.”

“Oh, what?” Giles accepted the package with disbelief. “You didn’t have to get me anything.” With a breathy laugh he straightened out the cuffs of his shirt underneath his suit jacket, glancing at her with a grin. “Yeah? I’m not one to refuse help. So. Hows your night?”

Spotted. Giles camouflaged and moved up behind them to surprise them. He caught their sentence and turned visible where he was, biting his lip through his grin and glancing down before he got the nerve. “May need a little more info on this cryptid, go on.”
