So Tomoe tells Ladybug that she doesn't have the mouse miraculous, we know that Ms. Tsurugi is in league with Gabriel so its entirely possible that she was lying... BUT

It immediately cuts to her talking to Gabriel on their new technology, the "allegiance" ring, which apparently serves as a sort of Siri. Is the implication that Gabe is going to use those rings to transfer the miraculous powers?

I have no idea how Miraculous Ladybug would reason that, but it seems like the best explanation given that Gabriel is obviously doing this for nefarious reasons and could market this to the general public.

So Tomoe is clearly dark and I’m again wholly suspicious of the entire cadre of rich attendees of Gabriel’s party.

Honestly, right now my biggest question is what angle of the square they’re going to be in when the reveal actually happens.

I think for Marinette’s sake, they’re both going to have to be pretty deep into the season for Marinette to be in a place where she can trust that they can actually be in a relationship.  

I think Adrien is like ready to fall into a puddle at her feet (on either side of her mask) with hardly any prompting, but the situation from his brief relationship with Kagami is probably still back of mind there, too.

Half of me wants something truly dumb once the dam finally does break, like them both trying to escape in opposite directions only to end up bumping into each other mid-transformation on the other side of the alley (and then trying desperately not to make out and keep their focus on the threat for the moment…)

interesting that 3 of gabriel’s known/suspected allies questioned ladybug and chat noir’s competence this episode, especially when we’re also seeing increased fear among the general population, an increased civilian resistance effort with the yoga and the training, and gabriel marketing tech that functions at least in part as an akuma alert system. he’s definitely stoking the existing fear, presumably to sell more rings and akumatize more people, but i do think lila’s statement in particular is interesting, since aside from su han, we haven’t seen a lot of in-universe acknowledgment of how young they are. especially since it’s paired with gabriel transmitting miraculous powers to another adult this episode and that adult insisting the city needs new heroes.

if gabriel was smart, he’d start positioning himself or an ally as a Potential Hero that paris could look to as their faith in ladybug & chat noir wavers (which i assume it will at some point this season, mostly because the show has made a very big point of showing us how much support they currently have while showing villainous characters trying to seed doubt). if he played his cards right, he could convince paris that ladybug and chat noir should hand over their miraculous like chloe suggested, but instead of to monarch, to Gabriel Agreste and Associates: Responsible Adults.

now i’m not convinced yet that gabriel is that clever, so i don’t really expect all that. but the stoking fear in the general populace… well, he’s done that before, in an episode that was heavily featured during evolution’s time travel adventures: hero’s day. which, of course, lila also played a big role in—her primary role being to create panic in the general population. and gabriel also reminded us that he considers that day to be one of the moments he was closest to victory, so i wouldn’t be surprised if he was going to repeat some of those strategies.

luckily for our heroes it looks like he’ll have to do it all without nathalie this time 😌

Here’s an idea that I had since watching Multiplication…

At this point we can safely assume that Tomoe absolutely knows that Gabriel is Monarch. She’s now working with him to create those rings (which are probably the same rings we see in the new op) which have SOMEthing to do with miraculous magic. (Probably those rings are vessels/receivers for miraculous powers transmitted remotely)

But what does Tomoe get out of helping Gabriel? What is she gonna get out of this deal?

In pondering that question, I remembered that Gabriel has the other rich and totally not evil parents as allies. He’s probably gonna recruit them in some capacity to help capture the rest of the miraculous. And to entice them to join him, he’s gonna have to promise them something big… a grand reward for helping him rewrite the universe.

Gabriel is gonna promise each and every one of his new allies that they will have everything they ever desired in his New Era. (Plz somebody get that reference)

But what if Gabriel promises too much? What if some big blow to his plans happens because of conflicting interests between his partners and they either turn on each other or turn on HIM?

Anyway. Just a brainwave I had in the last couple days.

A furious Gabriel is starting to lose Miraculous left and right from the moment Ladybug and Chat Noir figured out the Alliance rings were the culprit (but only after Monarch was corrupting the connection.)  No amount of Ladybug’s charms would ward him off otherwise.

That, of course, turned the heroes attention right back to Gabriel Agreste.

Adrien finally decides to make use to the spy gear Felix had discard in Gabriel’s office…once his Father left for yet another ring promo campaign.  After all, Gabriel could just use another hologram in his place.  

He doesn’t dare to do it alone.  Chat Noir clues Ladybug in and they both venture together into the Agreste basement.

Not surprisingly, both are stunned.  Ladybug catches herself first.  Ushering them both to get out.  They would have to find some place else to talk about what they found…and then probably get Adrien safely out of the house before Gabriel could corrupt him, too.

Now it made all too much sense why Felix had so easily been able to hand over all the Miraculous.  The calls had been coming from inside the house.

Ladybug and Chat Noir camp out up on the Eiffel Tower, while Ladybug suspiciously checks in on Gabriel’s antics, worrying aloud about how they could keep Adrien safe.

Gabriel uses holo-Adrien to appease a very clingy Lila, who proceeds to gushing about how close they are and how this opportunity had been a real blessing in disguise for them both.

Chat Noir’s eyes narrows spotting some of their classmates beaming at Lila’s announcement from the first few rows.

Disgusted, Ladybug snaps her yoyo shut.  

Chat Noir frowns, brows furrowing.  “Why are you so worried about him?”

Ladybug inhales slowly.  “Outside of the what we just saw?  Adrien has….well, he’s actually been a holder before.  Even before I’d tried to give him the Dog Miraculous and fell prey to Felix’s tricks.  Not that I remember it, really.  I’d been searching for a best fit for him.” 

Chat rubs his eyes.  Was it a trick of the light or was she…blushing?

“Anyways,” Ladybug clears her through.  “It’s not often a civilian manages to save a superhero.”

His eyes widens.  “What if he wasn’t as good as you think?”

“No one is perfect.”  Ladybug smiles softly.  “I know that all too well.  But that doesn’t change the fact that I believe in him.  I believe in the goodness in him.”

Sitting quietly for a bit longer, Chat Noir lingers on the tower, even after she left.  His heart was still racing from his Lady’s words.

He didn’t want to go home.  

Honestly, he wasn’t sure he even could.  Not with the secret he could hardly share with anyone else.  

His eyes dart along the rooftops, searching for a familiar cluster of lights.  

A slow smile curves across his lips.  Maybe Marinette was still up.

She always was quick to come up with a plan.

He couldn’t tell Ladybug without revealing who was hiding behind his mask, but Marinette was just as clever.  

Surely, she would have a good idea of where he could hide until the fight against his father was done.

Look if there really is a lovesquare reversal happening. Marinette needs some people pinning after her. Adrien needs to feel that love rival challenge. So season 5 better have more people in love with Marinette.

It seems to me that the most important thing with the rings is that is disallows Ladybug and Chat Noir from physically recovering the Miraculous once they are out.

We do see Ladybug giving the Charms to Tomoe, but if that holder’s purpose is aligned with Gabriel’s that might not actually do all too much in practicality.

We probably won’t see many of the other heroes out this season, at least until Ladybug and Chat Noir, they uncover the mystery of who Monarch actually is and take it from him directly.

It does make me wonder if perhaps when the final battle does happen, maybe we will see the unmasked heroes in the class standing beside Ladybug and Chat Noir in order to grab the Miraculous to safety.

Perhaps, it is in that chaos that the Butterfly Miraculous itself is scooped up.

It’s that “power of love always so strong” line in the theme that has me half-expecting that Ladybug and Chat Noir will finally take all the Miraculous away from Gabriel, LadyNoir will both be sugary, sweet and openly affectionate with each other once they can finally rest for a bit.

Gabriel is furious and incredibly angry but there is no longer any protection or powers for him to wield like a sword.

When he thought he couldn’t be any angrier, Gabriel is stunned by the sight of his son appearing as Chat Noir shed his mask.

Even moreso when Adrien then leaned in to kiss Ladybug and then press his forehead to hers.

And that is the final straw, sending Gabriel endlessly screaming and raving when the police finally arrive to take him away.
