"Every time Bryant saw her in the family's sept, he couldn't help but wonder what lay in her prayers. Was it good health for their lord father? Safe waters every time Aedan got on a ship? Or maybe a sharp blade and quick feet whenever he rode into battle? He smirked to himself. Perhaps she prayed for herself, for the gods to make her words sharper than his blade. That she navigated womanhood safely. For a long healthy life.

Those were the only moments where his little sister was a mystery to him.

She made little effort to feign discretion when meeting someone for the first time. Her amber gaze was inquisitive, and if one paid close attention, one could hear the murmur of a stream of thoughts and opinions taking form in her mind. In fact, she took great pride in her keen instinct for discerning the true nature of a person’s character, and she made sure to casually mention it from once in a while.

Her hands, delicate in appearance, bore the faint roughness of someone who spends hours reading. Long had been those summer afternoons beneath the shade of the oak, turning the pages while reading tales of old, prayers or genealogies, and whispering to herself the lines she committed to memory, eager to impress him and Aedan.

But she was no longer a child, and though she was still eager to prove her worth, she would not do so through feigned sweetness nor pretentious words. It would not be fitting for one of her godly nature."

He always had a kind word ready and listened with genuine care, offering comfort or counsel whenever it was needed. He appeared stern and dutiful in audiences and council meetings, yet whenever he smiled, he seemed younger, almost childlike. Whenever he laughed, it was near impossible not to smile.

To anyone knowing this lullaby - i did my best to translate it in a way to keep the rhythm and meaning, it's far from being perfect but i tried to sing it and it sounded just fine lmao
