My dearest Lady Catelyn:

I hope this letter finds you well.  I’m afraid our last parting was not on pleasant terms, but perhaps you will find yourself readier to hear what I have to say now than you did then.  I had nothing to do with the attempt on your son’s life, I swear it.  He is but an eight year old boy who I can see posing no real threat to me.  And I’m not in the habit of killing children for fun.

But that is not the reason for this letter.  Either you believe this or you do not.  I write to you of your daughter Sansa, who you must know is still betrothed to my nephew Joffrey.  Now, perhaps you do not know my nephew as well as I do, but let me assure you, he is truly a wretched little shit.  The way he treats your Sansa… I hesitate to describe it to you. 

Whatever you might believe, I care for your daughter’s well-being, Lady Stark, and I can see no good coming of her remaining here.  I know your son and king has already refused terms put forth by the King’s Small Council, but I approach you with a simple proposal of my own.  My brother Jaime for your daughter Sansa.  No talk of crowns.  No talk of lands.  No talk of submission.  Just this exchange, so that we both might be reunited with those lost to us.

I beg of you, Lady Stark, whatever you decide, do not mention ever having received this raven.  I am not supported by the council in this.  I am awaiting the promptest of responses - your daughter may soon be in more acute danger.

Dear Lord Tyrion,

I must agree that our last meeting was not pleasant and your assurances mean little, you are after all, a Lannister.  However I would like to believe what you say is true.  Only a monster would attempt on a child’s life and I had thought you better than those who would seek to harm someone so innocent.  However a Lannister made that attempt and I wished for a Lannister to pay.  That, of course, is neither here nor there.

As much as I do not want to believe you I must at the very least listen to what you have to say.  Sansa is my daughter and the knowledge that she is still with your sister and vial nephew turns my stomach and keeps me awake at night.  I can only imagine the things that boy has done to my Sansa and the mere thought makes me cringe.  For that reason alone I am considering what you have to say.

My son would not approve of me even considering this exchange but Sansa is my daughter, my only daughter with Arya lost.  I need her back in my arms.  I however agree to your terms.  My son may think the treason but I have lost enough family.  I refuse to lose my daughter to Joffrey Baratheon.  My daughter for your brother with no talk of lands or surrender.  I agree to these terms.

I would never be so foolish as to speak of this raven.  No one will know.  I will be awaiting a response to discuss how best to handle this exchange.
