āThere is news, from Lordaeron, Shalāserador.ā Came from her right. Leaāvune had been lounging on the cool stones of the Moonwell within the Farwatcherās Glen. A slender, elegant frame was garbed in its usual array of black and purple leathers, cloak draped loosely over her thighs and a book was propped up in her hands. An onyx brow rose, soft, shadowy silver gaze fluttered to the Outrunner that stood patiently at her side, and Leaāvuneās chin tilted upwards in an arrogant display of defiance.
āAnd why would I care about Lordaeron, Shalādris?ā She addressed the scout by her husbandās shadowsā name. The scout was taller than she, piercing eyes of silver marred by war with burn scars mangling the flesh on the left side of her face. Her hair was a rich autumnal auburn pulled into a tight braid, and the rest of her shrouded by a cloak. She hesitated as she studied Leaāvune, dark lips pursed expectantly at that. Slender ears flicked patiently behind her and the book sheād been studying was closed and set aside in the moonlight.
āIt has been reported that there is.. a new Council, that the Forsaken have founded. The Desolate Council.ā The scout began, tempering Leaāvuneās reaction surely, and of course, the Shadow Eaterās expression was of a passive neutrality and a knee was slid upwards, gloved hands folding over it as she shifted into a proper sit.
āTheir Council, with the Bansheeās former Dark Rangers have extended an offer to the High Priestess.ā That seemed to intrigue Lea, then, for her spine straightened and onyx locks tickled her buttocks as she shifted once more, an intent lean forward given. A slender ear lifted curiously at that.
āThose of the People that were slain and risen by the Bansheeās corrupt Valākyr are given the choice. They may remain with the Dark Rangers or they may be returned to us if we will accept them home.ā The Scout finished the report, waiting patiently and studying Leaāvuneās reaction carefully. Home. Their People. Ripped away from the Goddessā embrace and twisted. They know little else but that emptiness and that betrayal.
āā¦ Do we know what the High Priestess thinks?ā Leaāvune offered gently in that ever-quiet and melodic tone, and the Scout shook her head once. Leaās chest dropped with her quiet sigh, and a frown welled to life. The Shadow Eater slumped again, propped against a small pillar and turned her gaze to the luminescent pool to her left. Far be it for her to judge the minds of those that know little else anymore but vengeance and pain. Far be it for her to judge the sinful and for the sinful to scream wanting to a Goddess that may not even hear them anymore.
āShaha lorāma, Shalādris.ā (Thank you, Shalādris) Leaāvune hummed, a thoughtful frown welling to life. She felt the air behind her move, telling of her departure. Slender shoulders rose and fell in a soft sigh, pressing a knuckle to her temple with a slight crinkle to her nose. First it was the mages, and nowā¦ what? The righteous turned corrupt? The righteous and the innocent torn from their bodies and ripped apart, reshaped into something that doesnāt understand. Her people. People that shouldnāt be suffering as they do.
Briefly she wondered what the thoughts of General Feathermoon and Priestess Tyrande were. They like the other leaders disappeared into the Shadowlands, passed over the Veil to fight the dead. Updates were sparse, but the balance of the dead and the living were upset and continue to be upset forā¦ however long this war was to last.
She felt twin sets of eyes on her, finally. A curious set of silver-lavender and amber. They were old enough to climb and old enough to perch quietly now. They were growing strong, and their seventh Nameday was swiftly approaching.
āYou two are supposed to be resting for another hour.ā Leaāvune remarked pointedly, lifting her stare to spot her children perched atop the Moonwell precariously.
āWe couldnāt sleep, Mama.ā Asaan pouted, pulling himself up into a crouch next to Dheana.
āHe wanted to listen in on the impordant things.ā Dheana blurted without preamble; a sweet girl that could tell no lies or face her mother and fatherās wrath. If only the boy continued to listen as well as she had.
āWell. The āimpordantā things are finished. If you two are satisfied, I would see you in your beds before I can reach your rooms, and I have started counting already, my loves.ā Their mother chimed in that horrifyingly calm tone of hers. Their father would be returning from his mission any minute now, and it was a real fact he may already be waiting for them. Asaan and Dheana shared in a stank face contest before their two-toned chirps of acknowledgment left the twins.
Leaāvune watched them scramble expertly down the posts above the Moonwell and disappear into the station house and up the ramps. She chuckled softly, and rubbed the side of her face. The sinful were allowed a chance at redemption. It may take her fallen kin a millennia to atone, but their happiness will come once again.
