hands wring together nervously and lips curled down in her quiet anxiety. regret had settled low in her stomach once she made it to the lakeside camp — just a small summer job to get her away from home, that's what it was meant to be. just her horrible luck that as soon as she made it, the elder counselors began filling her head with stories of horrors lurking at night. ❝ no, i'm from minnesota, so ... ❞ she lets it trail off, picking at already chipped black varnish on her nails. an excuse to avoid eye contact for just a moment longer. ❝ is it true that some girl got stabbed by an ice pick here ? someone told me she got stabbed in the head and left in the middle of the camp for some kid to find. ❞ hazel eyes meet green, hoping beyond hope that the rumors are just made up fodder in some attempt to haze new counselors.
yeah … it was written all over the other's face — SHE PROBABLY DIDN'T BELONG AROUND THE OTHERS, but it was fine. they had their fair share of counselors practically shaking at the whisper of the murders that went down, but this was beyond it. not that betty was any better, HONESTLY. she hid the quivering of her lip quite well with how she reapplied lipstick in only a minute.
“minnie-soda? wow.. cool.”she mumbled, obviously disinterested until the detailed question is brought up. she grimaces, nearly getting red on her cheek as her head turns to look."um. ew. no? maybe? i don't know, i've never been the type to go seeking information on things like that… it's rumors anyway, why should i?"lips pucker, feeling dryer than usual. that was bad. see as much as betty loves to party if chris is telling them to behave and not fuck around in that cryptic but frantic way she's listening shes staying in the lodge shes not going out of her way to be loud. she may be the life of the party but shes exactly that... the life... you can't tell her not to do something in a scared way and not expect her to be like sir yes sir.
“ welcome. ” a voice, distinctly english, practically sparkling with amicability & easy warmth. volt appears from the crush of clubgoers, white hair almost glowing under the bright lights overhead. he beams at @lakeflirt, holding out his hand. “ i didn't expect to see you back so soon, live wire. ” the tone of his voice clearly shows he's pleased to be wrong, though. & he's rarely wrong with things like this.
“it's hard to stay away when i can just HEAR the party pumping here.”she teases with a beaming grin, biting her bottom lip as she takes his outstretched hand."joking-- sort of… mostly came back because of you two."how could she not? a painstacking time of hard labor which she'd never done before and sentimental flirtation had gotten her the affection of two of the HOTTEST in the house.

“ oh ! ” all misty hears is kinda cute & she's smiling, reaching up her hand to touch her hair gently, a little self-consciously — but not in a bad way, like she usually would. betty-lou had called it cute. everyone else just tells her she looks like a poodle. “ you really don't think it's that bad ? ” she's tried her best with it, but sometimes it's like it has a mind of its own. “ i do it myself, but i'd love tips if you have any ! ” she's almost giddy at the prospect, but she's trying really hard to be cool about it. trying, & failing.
there's something adorable about the eager to please air misty brings to a function – it's a sleep over, betty's invited pretty much the entire soccer team and that included misty who she now understands to be some sort of outcast amongst the social hierarchy; WHICH BETTY IS NOT.
she'd never try and understand, because she can't, but she can at least attempt to help correct the problems that lead to it. so she nods slowly, taking in misty's hair with a thoughtful hum."i think it just suffers from being dry, so you need to hydrate it for sure."she breathes for a second, brows furrowing as she lists things off."curl-enhancing conditiors, anti-frizz shampoos… i like to use shea butter products sometimes, but that's just me. also be careful over-hydrating, that can lead to problems too. your hair is just thick and dry, that's really it. don't try straightening it either, you might fry it without the right product to protect it."
there are plenty of looks to achieve with a curl-type of misty's own, mostly 80s looks but retro would always be a hit."have you tried any hairstyles from the past? like um… 70s or 80s looks? with your hair you could go for a sort of bombshell kind of look…"she nods to herself, reaching over to her vanity to grab the needed supplies."let's try it!"
