Hey fellow folx on the Schizophrenia-spectrum, I want to hear your thoughts on a hard topic?

I've been applying for jobs and have had to fill out a bunch of self identification of disability forms. And all of them list Schizophrenia (my diagnosis) as a disability and I've never thought of it like that. I've only been diagnosed a year and a half so I haven't had to confront how to identify with it.

I've been putting "choose not to answer"... But I want to know. Do you guys identify with being disabled? What is your relationship with your diagnosis?

It is at its core a disability. Even if you're effectively medicated and have no hallucinations, people with schizophrenia just do not process at the same rate as healthy people. This can cause problems at any job but especially in industrial environments.
