television peaked with Once Upon a Time, like I can watch Anna from Frozen try to convince Snow White's Prince Charming to fight evil Warlord Little Bo Beep and he's like 'You don't know what you're talking about Anna from Frozen, my dad died when I was six because he was an alcoholic' and be like that's not even the most insane moment of this episode

I don’t necessarily want to read the plot of my favorite books again, but I want to be in the world. I want to smell the air, to feel the wind, to taste the food.

I think it’s part of what I love about The Starless Sea. It captures the longing to be inside a story. To walk through magical doors and discover new lands.

One of the main critiques I’ve heard about The Starless Sea and The Night Circus is that the plot is difficult but the vibes are impeccable. At times this feels true, but I don’t think it’s to the detriment of the book.

They’re written by a gamer. The scenes are designed in detail so your mind can step through a vivid world. There are a million side quests while you play the story.

All of this to say, I need people with better artistic ability to create ambiance videos for me to play on an endless loop because I don’t have the skill to match my imagination.

omg i need to sleep but the starless sea.... what..... this is like. one of the best fantasy books i have read. every single story that you th ought was just a standalone is interwoven in the world and the worldbuilding is just beautiful. it is a book about stories and bees and honey and exploring and doors and spaces outside of time and feeling untethered and dying and being saved and protection and immortality and owls and so much jqnuary snow and libraries and ruins and cocktails and fate and the sea and love and i really should not finish it tonight because i have an alarm set but oh my god. this book

I can only imagine Killian owning a Newfoundland, like think about it a Newfie would be the perfect dog for him. They were actually specifically bred to be in and around the water, they can save people who’ve been knocked overboard and do all sorts of stuff in the water plus Nana the dog from the original Peter Pan story was a Newfoundland so it’s perfect. Plus don’t even lie, the image of Killian sprawled out on the floor with a massive fluffy Newfie lying on top of him just makes sense

ouat s1: government corruption, a woman almost having to give her baby away against her will, a mine collapsing with a child inside, a girl locked in a mental hospital, arson, homeless children needing to steal to survive, said homeless children almost getting separated in the foster care system, infidelity, drugging and kidnapping, attempted muder, actual murder, a murder trial that has nothing to do with the real actual murder, a man slowly and painfully turning into wood, etc.

sometimes I worry that my fic is too convoluted and unbelievable and then I remember that Brennan Jones fell into a magic coma right after selling his two sons into servitude and only woke up when, years later, the nurse that was tending to him started talking to him and he fell in love with her in his coma and they shared true loves kiss, and I feel better about my own writing.
