Introducing the iLam series: Roza from Random Life
Who are you: I am Roza Ahmad 27 years old entrepreneur, dancer and culture loving lady from Finland. My origins go way back to Iraq. My Mom and Dad came to Finland 28 years ago because they were running away from the war that was going on back in the 80s. As refugees they ended up in Finland and now I’m here. Growing up in two different cultures was a struggle. Not knowing where to belong or who your true friends really are it made me search for something great. I started dancing when i was 10 years old. It took me to a place where i didn’t have to worry about a thing and i was accepted for who i am. Since 2010 i’ve been winning Finnish Championships in different Hip Hop categories and my students have been doing good as well. In 2012 i became a member of the Iconic House of Ninja and 2013 a member of the Zulu Nation Galactic Charter 5:1. I started a creative company called Random Life with one of my oldest friend Renaz Ebrahimi almost a year ago and ever since our lives has turned upside down. I’ve been blessed to things that i love. My mission in/on this planet is to seek for more knowledge and give back to the community.
What is your driving force: I always set a lot of goals for myself and i know where i wanna be in 5 years. I wanna live my life surrounded with good energy and good people who inspires me to do good things. My husband is everything to me. He always pushes me to try something new and actually helps me a lot with my creative process. I love talking and listening to good music. I enjoy good food and drinks. I love the good things in Life. I’m also a person who works a lot, I don’t usually stop until i’m tired or hungry. I keep going and doing. That’s just me.
What does On The Lam mean to you: Freedom to express yourself and live your life the way that makes you happy.
Why do did you decide to start doing what you do?: Growing up between two really different cultures and mixed feelings i decided in my early teenage years that i would live my life as i want. I had to work my way up with my parents, with the society, with the community. Nothing came easy to me. But i always had a vision and i always knew where i wanna be and what I wanted to do.
Why do you love On The Lam NYC clothing and lifestyle philosophy?I love the desings/colorways and the quality of the clothing. The shirts are super comfortable and they look cool no matter where are you going. I can wear it with a blazer and look chick or go for the urban look wearing a bomber for example. But you know i sleep in them too… ;)
Why does the brand fit your brand and lifestyle? I feel On The Lam NYC has a very courageous way of putting different kinds of concepts together and make it work for themselves. They are always thinking outside of the box and not afraid to learn and to try new things. They are also super versatile and motivated to push their things forward with On The Lam. I try keep those things in my mind when i’m running my company. Everything you do in your life you need to do it with love.
Thank you Lilli and Sib for creating and motivating people around you. It’s been wonderful to see you two growing together and creating a company with this great vision. I wish you all the best in future and may all of your visions come true. You guys deserve it. When along your journey did you first encounter On The Lam NYC? I met Lilli and Sib in New York 2010 when everything was just getting started. How would you describe ON THE LAM NYC in 3 words? EARTHY, CREATIVE, INDEPENDENT
