Week 6
- Lofi designs
I continued gathering materials this week for our visual element of our project. Once I felt like I had a decent amount, I started prototyping some videos. Usually when I am working with videos I like to use Splice, which is a free and easy mobile application, but I wanted to try and step out of my comfort zone and play around with new applications. A free software I kept seeing was 'VSDC Video Editor' which I hear is good from my research, so I watched some tutorials on how to use it and imported my own media so that I can play around and test what I've learnt. At first it was quite intimidating just by the looks of it, but after the tutorials I was able to find my way around and use it. There were a lot of cool effects there for me to use, especially the folder the had for TV effects which will come in handy for when I begin my more refined designs

Week 5:
- Lofi design (prep)
To begin my designing, I did some research on video editing software, techniques, and also different styles for more inspiration on how I could edit my videos. There were a lot of video art styles, and at first I wasn’t sure if the research I found was helpful for creating the idea I had in my head because it did not relate to the video styles I intended on using. But as I continued looking into these articles I realised I could still use some of the information I found. I initially planned on using premier pro to make my videos but for some reason it wouldn’t start properly on my laptop. But this was only a small obstacle, from my research there are plenty of other good video editing softwares. This would also be a good chance to play around and explore new editing softwares. Obviously before I start editing videos I need material to work with, so I started gathering some recordings I have correlating to our themes, and also got Bren to forward some of his own recordings.

Week 4:
- Finalise Concepts
- Concept refining
This week we finalised what concepts we wanted to use for our project. We grouped our ideas into three themes: food/cooking, people, and places/environment. Since our installation uses a television medium, we thought it would be cool to have these three concepts as three different “channels” on the tv, viewers would be able to interact with our installation by switching back and forth between the channels.
After deciding on these concepts we explored what materials we could use for our designs. Since my main role is the visual element of our project, I planned out what I wanted to use. Deciding on these concepts made my job easier, so I could narrow down what I can display, images of food, people, and places. I wanted to get as much of a culture to be depicted in our installation so that it would be more personal.

Week 3:
- Concept ideation/exploration
This week for our project we discussed possible concepts for our installation, relating to our theme of ‘Home’. Because we are from different backgrounds, we would have different examples of what makes us feel at home for each of these themes. This project gives us the opportunity to share our ideas to display and also have a wider audience to make a connection with rather than just having it based on one background. We have chosen a name for our project, which is ‘iRMNSC’. Our name derives from the word ‘Reminisce’, which relates to our project theme, through our designs we are remembering all our happy memories and experiences. It was fun to share our different memories with each other and learn some new things as well.

PROJECT MEMBERS:
- Bren Aguila (BCT Year 3)
- Valendra Eti (BCT Year 3)
PROJECT IDEA:
The idea for this project is to create a digital installation showcasing the theme of ‘Home’. The project will have audio and visual elements that describes what makes us feel at home.
This week we brainstormed project ideas until we landed on this installation idea, which will give us the opportunity to showcase our some of our strengths. Once we settled on the idea, I worked on creating a schedule based on what we planned to have has weekly goals and tasks. This week Bren and I were to focus on concept research, which includes looking at different types of concepts we like, existing models, gathering inspo and making mood boards.

FINAL ARTEFACT - STUDIO V PROJECT

Week 12
- AR development
I started to work on creating my artefact, I uploaded my 3d model into BlippAR, positioned it where I wanted it to go and also added a spinning effect. I also added text with my projects name. I did multiple tests while editing my design to see how it would look, I was really disappointed because for some reason my 3d model I made would not show when I tested it, but other 3d models like the pyramid would show up, but the text did show up at least. I wished that it would have worked successfully for my final artefact. It was really fun to work on and cool to see some parts of the outcome although it didn't turn out how I planned it to.

Week 11
- AR practice
I started experimenting with AR this week. From my research, I found a platform that was free and easy to use to create my augmented reality (BlippAR). Before I start making my artefact, I wanted to play around with BlippAR and get familiarise myself with it’s tools to make my artefact making process easier. I started by putting a simple pyramid shape into the AR space and tested it out using the marker I made. BlippAR has an app we can use to see our AR creations work using a unique code, it was really cool to see it come to life.
As for my 3d model asset, I found it difficult to sculpt what I had planned to and I did not want to spend too much time on this part, so I decided to just keep my island sculpture by itself so I would at least still have something to use for my final artefact.

WEEK 10
PROTOTYPING: marker sketches, sculpture sketches
ASSET DEVELOPMENT: completed marker and sculpture designs
This week I started making prototypes. I sketched out some marker designs, which would be used to trigger my AR elements. For my sculpture sketches, I decided to use my old sketches of the sculpture I made from the previous project. Once I had my sketches, I opened up InDesign to make my marker designs, I would have used Illustrator but for some reason it wouldn't open.
I planned on making and completing my 3d model of my sculpture this week but was found it a bit difficult to finish on time. For my 3d model, I chose to use blender. This was my first time using blender, I’ve always seen cool projects being made using blender so was quite excited to try it for myself. I’m not sure if it was my laptop, but I found it hard to sculpt because the screen would keep lagging so it took quite a while. I planned on sculpting hands and the island, but only managed to sculpt the island, not exactly how I wanted it to look but with my lack of skills it was good enough for now.

WEEK 9
RESEARCH - concept exploration, tutorials, methods, techniques, moodboards, existing models, etc.
This week I worked on researching the material I needed to help me make this project. I looked into Augmented reality to familiarize and develop my knowledge on the concept. I've never worked with AR so I wanted to make sure I know the basics before I start working on my own AR project.
I made a moodboard of some AR projects I found:

WEEK 8
PROJECT BREAKDOWN PART TWO
A2 WORK SCHEDULE
REDIFINE PROJECT
Coming back after the break, I had decided to redefine my project idea. The motive and messages are still the same, shining a light on climate change in the pacific through design, but the plans on how it will be done has changed. Before, this project was focused on the app design, but now will be focused on the AR components. After looking into AR art installation briefly in the first submission I decided I wanted to explore this concept more and also thought it would be a great idea to build a digital installation for AR instead. A digital installation would be more accessible and can be more interactive with the audience instead of a physical one.
REDEFINED IDEA: Creating an Augmented reality displaying digital versions of my art sculptures, this would be done by using an app to scan certain icons to reveal certain sculptures and their stories. These icons could be stickers people can place anywhere they go.
After redefining my project, I broke down what needed to be done to bring this idea to life, and created a schedule to see what order it needs to be done before moving on to the next steps.

WEEK 6: LO-FI PROTOTYPING
PROTOTYPE MAKING: Sketches of app design
I continued making lo-fi prototypes of my app design this week. I worked more on which screens I will have and the sequence they may be in. It's going to be quite hard choosing a final design because I have so many ideas. Next week I will start preparing all my material for the first submission.

WEEK 5: LO-FI PROTOTYPES
PROTOTYPING: Early sketches of app screens
Started to make sketches of my ideas, I want my app design to really showcase the visual elements to be aesthetically pleasing and also meaningful. I want to make navigating around the app as smooth as possible, by using smooth scrolling for transitions into different screens.
