I'm very excited to announce The Harbinger's Path, a Trahearne and Malyck Guild Wars 2 fan comic!
I've made a little preview page with more info coming soon! The address is in the last image above.
The Harbinger’s Path is a completely fan-made project, unofficial, and not affiliated with ArenaNet – it’s a small passion-project I’ve decided to do while not part of the Creative Partnership, as I felt more comfortable working on something more personal to me on my own.
Especially as I’m not sure how much interest there might be in this project beyond my own specific tastes - though of course, I hope someone else might also enjoy it, too. ;)
Also, I've seen the recent tumblr posts - I'm hopeful this site will keep on kicking, but just in case: I plan to also post updates to bsky, and I even learned how to add an RSS feed for the website :O The link is on the preview page!
(If I had known how easy it was to create your own RSS feed, I would have done so years ago!)
Yay! My package with Unsounded books 1 & 2 from last year's Kickstarter arrived yesterday! They are just as beautiful as I anticipated. I promptly skipped to the end of both to read the new short comics - I'm very fond of side-stories like those. :D The main comic is, of course, delicious on the page. The reds printed exceptionally well - smoke eels jump vibrantly from the shadows!
Unsounded's Kickstarter for books 3 & 4 - the next 2 books in the series - is going on right now! It passed its initial goal in something like ~30 minutes within launch, and they are now on their final stretch goal - a zine collection of Ashley's prose stories! Please consider supporting so they can meet this final stretch goal! :D
I'm very excited about it because while Ashley's brilliant art is how I first became aware of her work, her writing has always stood out to me as uniquely strong and full of personality. I think this infuses everything she creates, and why the storytelling in both her comics and illustrations are exceptionally compelling.
If you also enjoy Unsounded and Ashley's writing, consider picking up her books in the Kickstarter to enjoy - they printed beautifully (I love how satisfyingly larger and thicker these new editions are) (I also LOVE the new cover artworks!) - I think any Unsounded fan would love these books. :D
I also have an irreverent (too long) story relating to these two books, which I'll use this post as an excuse to type below:
Sometime last year - I want to say about 2 months before Unsounded's August 2025 Kickstarter for books 1 & 2 launched (this one) - I was browsing a local comic shop. I remember I had just browsed a section adorned with hand-written staff notes highlighting their enthusiastic recommendations of monster-relation dalliances. A quality establishment!
(Peculiar to think how, in retrospect, many of those books would likely be banned on today's online platforms in the year since - but I digress.)
As we circled to the front of the store, I spotted an especially large, beautifully-bound comic book. I recognized the art instantly, as even though it is not a series I kept up with personally, the style is wonderfully memorable and the comic's quality top-notch - Tracy Butler's Lackadaisy! I remember seeing this comic many years ago, as probably one of the first webcomics I had stumbled across.
Seeing Lackadaisy in physical form, when my last knowledge of it was as a webcomic years back, was a treat. I browsed the pages and marveled at the comic's beautiful, expressive artwork. And by how well the book was printed! Everything from the cover to the interior pages looked very considered. The "feel" of the book was a pleasure to see and hold in front of you.
As I was gushing about the quality of this book to my partner nearby, it impressed me enough that I checked the book's front matter, because I was curious who had printed something so well. "Iron Circus Comics." The name was new to me, and I immediately commented to my partner about how I wished we could see Unsounded printed with this level of care, as though my recollection of the timeline is a bit fuzzy, I think this was around the time when there were suggestions Unsounded might be getting new print volumes.
Imagine my surprise when, a month or so later, not only was the Kickstarter for new volumes of Unsounded announced/confirmed - but the new publisher was none other than Ironic Circus Comics! I felt like the universe had granted my wish!
I knew from how exceptionally printed Lackadaisy was in that comic store, that these new editions of Unsounded would likewise be worth every penny. And seeing them in person now, every expectation I had was fulfilled. They are gorgeous, they are beautiful, everything about them was clearly put together with intention and care. I can't recommend them more highly!
In addition to highly recommending Iron Circus Comics' publications for Unsounded, I also highly recommend ICC's publications for Lackadaisy! You won't be disappointed by the quality of ICC's published books. :D
Unsounded Volume 1 has been officially released to bookstores and comic shops everywhere. We legit, guys!
Honest reviews are always appreciated, or maybe you missed the last crowdfund and are ready for your hardcopy?

These will be available from the publisher's shop in a little while, and volume 2 will be for sale in October. Crowdfund for 3 & 4 launches on Monday. Wacky!
My printer recently offered to try a "Rainbow Holographic" cover test for me!
They normally don't do this type of lamination for their perfect-bound books, but seemed as curious as I was if it would work for The Harbinger's Path :D
Enjoyed this movie quite a bit! Inspired me to do a practice drawing based on my favorite scene in it.
I'm admittedly not very familiar with the source material, but please, go watch it in theaters if you can! I need a sequel! I need more of Skeletor's self-indulgent monologuing injected into my eardrums!
I will be out for much of today, and will respond to any new requests later tonight. Also because I had a question about it, international shipping is available! :D
Thank you so much again for your interest in these books! I will write a proper thank-you email tomorrow, but I'm truly so grateful for how you helped make this project possible. I hope you are having the most wonderful of weekends!

Wow, I somehow never posted this one here - I saw fan speculation earlier about how the gw2 (?) teaser from today might be a cleansed Orr! :O Which reminded me of this older art I was inspired to paint shortly after finishing the Knight of the Thorn questline.
It involves one of my headcanons where Trahearne brings Malyck to a cleansed Orr, after the Firstborn cleanses Malyck from Mordremoth's corruption (this headcanon takes place after Heart of Thorns).
On this sunny Saturday, I had a chance to scrounge up the original file on my external - fixed the watermark, updated the font, and added a detail crop here.
There's also a higher-resolution version of the full painting at the end of the post, after a reddit user asked for one last week. I decided to make an exception this time - both because this painting is rather old at this point, and in celebration of Guild Wars 3 finally being real. :D
It's also almost the last day to ask for print books before I close requests. More info here if you are so inclined!
I swear, every time I see you draw these two I need to hug my nonexistent Trahearne and Malyck plushies and try to imagine a world where Mordremoth didn’t screw up everything
jumping up and down and cheering because i finally have @landylachs 's gorgeous work in my hands!!!
thank you landy for sharing your passion for these two with the rest of us and letting us all get to enjoy your gorgeous art!! can't wait for what's next :D
YAY I'm glad they arrived safely froggy! Your friend was so nice and it was lovely meeting them, thanks again to you and please thank them again for me for stopping by! :D
I hope you enjoy reading them! And thank you always for your kind words & encouragement about The Harbinger's Path, they mean so much to me! <3
Just learned it's a prequel taking place "over a thousand years before the original game" - before Guild Wars 1!
