The birth of Ostania begins with the murder of a young couple, the slaughter of an entire village, and the imprisonment of Anya, a young Oracle.
The King and Queen of Ostania are assassinated forcing their then sixteen-year-old daughter, Yor Briar, to ascend the throne wholly unprepared for the responsibility of the crown. The young Queen depends on the Garden–Ostania’s fractured royal court–and Matthew McMahon, her longtime tutor-turned-royal advisor, for guidance.
Concerned for the Queen’s safety, the Garden hides her away and oversees the governance of the kingdom.
For ten years, all is well.
But things aren’t as they seem.
The kingdom of Ostania has a darker history than any of them know.
The Garden isn’t what it seems.
Old friends may, in fact, be old foes.
And new enemies are gathering west of the Ostanian border.
And now Yor has discovered that there may be more to her parents’ deaths than she realized.

Infamous Pirate Captain Twilight had no intention of kidnapping Queen Yor Briar of Ostania. That is, of course, until she asked.
I started working on this story late last year and at first, the idea was very simple. A long one-shot. But then this world grew. It gained history, culture, mythology, and life. Now, it's this. I've learned so much about the craft of storytelling and world-building while working on this story and I can honestly say this story is my heart in written form. I've held it close for months and now I'm ready to start sharing it with all of you. I hope you enjoy it. Enjoy the ride.
