An awareness program for school students was successfully organized by the Madampe Divisional Secretariat on June 6, 2025. The program included expert guest lectures, environmental video presentations, and interactive workshops. Students actively engaged with the content and showed keen interest in environmental conservation.
A special awareness and capacity-building program was conducted for the women’s groups in the surrounding areas and in Mune, Kandakkuliya, under the theme “Mangrove Conservation and Food Production Using Discarded Fish.”

On the 2nd of May 2025, the Lanka Mangrove Museum in Pambala welcomed a special group of young visitors—eight students from the prestigious Ananda College in Colombo. Their journey from the bustling capital to the serene coastal region of Kalpitiya was a testament to their commitment to learning and their interest in environmental conservation.

Traveling all the way from the capital, these young leaders took part in an educational tour aimed at enhancing their understanding of mangrove ecosystems and the broader importance of environmental conservation.
On April 30, 2025, the Lanka Mangrove Museum was once again delighted to welcome a second group from Ratnapura Rahula National School. This time, 56 students accompanied by 8 teachers made the journey to learn more about Sri Lanka’s precious mangrove ecosystems. Their visit marked the second from the same school within the same week, underscoring the growing interest in environmental education and the museum’s role as a valuable learning hub. The students were warmly received by the museum staff and began their tour by exploring the interactive exhibits that highlight the biodiversity, ecological importance, and conservation efforts surrounding mangrove forests. One of the key components of the visit was an informative session held at the museum's auditorium. There, the students watched educational videos and participated in discussions that deepened their understanding of the critical role mangroves play in climate regulation, coastal protection, and supporting marine life. The visit provided the students not only with scientific knowledge but also with a sense of responsibility and inspiration to protect nature. The teachers appreciated the hands-on and engaging approach used by the museum to connect young minds with environmental issues. On April 25, 2025, the Lanka Mangrove Museum had the pleasure of welcoming 300 students and 30 teachers from Ratnapura Rahula National School. The group embarked on an educational journey to learn more about the vital role mangroves play in protecting coastal ecosystems and combating climate change.

Cultural Exchange On 11th April 2025, two researchers from Japan visited the Lanka Mangrove Museum as part of their data collection for ongoing research. During their visit, they were given a comprehensive tour of the museum. The Education Officer and other museum staff provided detailed explanations of the exhibits, helping the researchers gain deeper insights into mangrove ecosystems and conservation efforts.

On the 9th of April 2025, the Conservation Office in Halawata successfully organized an insightful and educational awareness workshop at the Lanka Mangrove Museum, specially designed for 104 students from Dhammissara National School. The workshop aimed to enhance the students’ understanding of mangrove ecosystems, their ecological importance, and the vital role they play in coastal protection, biodiversity conservation, and climate change mitigation. Held within the immersive setting of the museum, students had the opportunity to explore the various exhibits showcasing Sri Lanka's rich mangrove heritage.
