Lante walked into the room with his hands behind his head, whistling a soft tune. Noticing his brother, his tune faded slightly, and then ceased altogether. “Hm? Dante, what’s that paper you’re looking at with such intensity??” The curious boy walked over to him, not noticing that it was his own letter until he read the content. Immediately, his expression changed to an embarrassed one, and his rosy cheeks were plastered with a darker shade of pink.
"O-oi, Dante…" He looked around, to see if anyone else was present. "You didn’t… Show that to anyone, did you?" He was aware of his brother’s illiteracy, and although he would be embarrassed, Lante would much rather read it to him himself instead of others knowing what he wrote.
The sound of distant footsteps grew louder and louder and suddenly stopped in front of the wooden door.Dante could see a shadow between the crack of the door. A familiar tune was being whistled on the other side. A tune so sickeningly familiar and nostalgic. He knew that could only mean his brother was the one standing on the other side.
The whistle came to an abrupt stop as the door opened. Clearly, his brother wasn’t expecting him to be here. Dante held the paper in front of him again and stared at it. When his brother walked over to see what he was holding, he glanced at him for an explanation. He watched his brother turn bright red. Was he not suppose to look at this? But he was certain it has his name written on it or at least has something to do with him because his name was written on it. The man glanced back at the paper. D-A-N-T-E. Yep, that’s his name all right. He looked back at his brother again. "What do you mean?" Dante asked, tilting his head slightly to the side. He was puzzled to think why Lante would even bother asking him that question. His ties with the people in the castle isn’t something anyone would call ‘strong’. Most people in the castle didn’t enjoy seeing him or so that’s how he felt. And he didn’t exactly enjoy seeing them either, especially that fox.
Since Lante was here, he might as well ask him what was written on the paper. It had to at least do something with him right? His name was written there after all. "Lante, what does it say?" He asked and held the paper between both of them.
"W-what I mean is-" once again surveying the room, he sighed. No one seemed to be in the room, so he would of course comply with his beloved sibling and read it aloud. "Here," he held one side of the paper as Dante held the other, his face still contorted in question. Looking it over once, he decided to speak.
In no time, his voice portrayed the emotion in which he wrote with. Afterwards, he smiled and chuckled nervously at him. Bringing up a single digit, he scratched at his temple. "It's... Embarrassing... But true!" In that moment his stomach gave out a growl. Looking down at it, he laughed. "Looks like i'm hungry! This means we should get stew. Like in the letter.~"
