Criminal Record: Suspected in several blackmailing cases over ten years ago in Silvermoon. Never convicted and the evidence has been lost. Also suspected in two murders and a kidnapping, but never convicted.
The elder patriarch of House Goldendawn has been missing for years, since before the Fall of Silvermoon. A magister of some power, he was heavily involved in arcane research. According to Silvermoon records, he was researching the Dark Portal when he and his entire research team disappeared under mysterious circumstances. He hasn’t been seen or heard from since, and his son, Lanthalis Goldendawn, has long since had him declared dead.
The truth is far more dire. Donovath had been studying demons and fel magic since the warlocks first appeared during the First War, traveling to exotic locations and meeting with a variety of people, including orcs in their prison camps, to learn about the new magic. The expedition to the Dark Portal wasn’t a trip study it, but an initiation of sorts. It started months in advance, with Donovath using intermediaries to get in contact with demons of the Burning Legion. When the expedition arrived, Donovath slaughtered them all and gave their souls over to the Burning Legion commanders in exchange for power.
He’s been serving the Burning Legion ever since, first in the Third War, then later in the war in Outland. When the war was lost, he returned to the Blasted Lands and has been there since.
His return to Silvermoon is inevitable, now that the Blasted Lands is subject to such close scrutiny by the Horde and the Alliance. There, he can hide his true allegiance.
Mun Note: Though it usually isn’t played out in-game, Donovath is a fairly powerful necromancer, able with a lesser necromancer assisting, to bring back death knight Solandis Blightherald from death.
