Reblog to keep on truckin'.
The Onion pulling zero fucking punches.
The Onion is still relevant and wise.
This is part of my ongoing Discworld jacket embroidery project. Of course Great A'Tuin has to be on there. And of course it has to be the biggest one of them all.
I'm going to put the finished product in my masterpost, but I'm so proud of the thing that I have to put it in an extra post beforehand. Enjoy!
Update!!!
Behold: the elephants! 😁
The turtle moves! Now it's just the "cargo" left. And the universe. Well.
Update 3: Why did I have to try single thread for the disc. Why. How did I ever think that was a good idea. This is taking aaaages.
I'd say never again, but I know myself too well...
Still trying to decide whether to outline the landmass with darker thread or not. It would make the lands more distinct - but it might also make it look more like a comic. If you have any thoughts on it, let me know. I'll only decide once I've finished the rest of the disc and that'll be at least a week, if I had to guess.
I finally had some time to continue and the disc is done! Now just some stars, planets, etc...
Q: What inspired you to have Crowley’s Bentley tapedeck turn everything into “The Best of Queen”?
Neil: Back in the days when all cars had cassette decks Terry Pratchett and I both noticed and talked about the fact that we had The Best of Queen tapes in our car we could not remember bying. And our theory was: all tapes turn in The Best of Queen. (x)
In the 90s when I listened to new music by checking CDs out from the library, The Best of Queen was one I checked out more than once. I can’t tell you how many times I’d go to play something and The Best of Queen would start playing, even if I didn’t remember having checked it out or putting it in the player. So when I read Neil’s explanation, I didn’t even question it. Oh yeah, I know all about that.
What's funny is, I've apparently trained my music streaming to the point where if I leave it on radio mode, it'll eventually start playing Queen.

Jack Black performs "We're Men in Tights" live for Mel Brooks and Michelle and barrack Obama
Finding this clip out of context while looking for the soundtrack felt like a fever dream.
this is the most important kennedy center honors bit ever
To a homophobe, even the most chaste kiss on the cheek between gay people is exactly as disgusting and degenerate as a hardcore BDSM orgy hosted in the town square, so you may as well ally with the BDSM orgy enthusiasts to throw bricks at the cops who are going to try and arrest all of you together anyway.
STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION | 3.05
A fantastic scene from TNG
Agreed, and the popcorn thread is just excellent. (Three flavors!) Do I want to see it all the time? Nah. But we all deserve to be petty when it’s warranted. 🤷🏼♀️
It’s true. I am everywhere.
I havent seen the oops wrong home comic this year...
Happy Holidays everyone! :-D
Anyone know a good way to block everyone from following me? I'm getting a truly spamful amount of followers and it's annoying the living shit out of me because the notifications keep coming. I would honestly just prefer people not be able to follow me at all versus getting like 20+ bots a day to block.
Anyone else swamped by bots lately?

My man was really gonna let a fucking BEAR into his house for the views and the BEAR had to be the sensible one here
"Everything okay in here? I saw your door was open... I'm just gonna fix that... excuse me..."
I chime in with
"Haven't you people ever heard of closing the goddamn door?"
No, it's much better to face these kinds of things
With a sense of poise and rationality
The bear IS the sensible one in this case.

The report says that by year four of the Alexa experiment, "Alexa was getting a billion interactions a week, but most of those conversations were trivial commands to play music or ask about the weather." Those questions aren't monetizable.
So they didn't want people using the very things they advertised as being useful; the reasons you'd tolerate an always-on virtual assistant in your life.
These actually are pretty handy for people with certain disabilities (particularly blind people), but of course Amazon never wanted to use these as a disability aid and only wanted to be a wiretap to throw more advertisements at people.
