Fieldwork chapter 15

This article shows power within religion because for Islamics there religion should include politics controlled by government. Within the article it gives examples of how people are killed because they goes not to follow rules controlled by government or for saying or doing things that would offend other. As if they have no freedom of speech for example a 15 year old kid in Syrian was killed for telling a freeloader her had to pay for his coffee just like the prophet his self. As offensive as that may be he didn’t deserve to get killed for it. The high up or government has so much power over people and there religion the would do anything to protect it.

Fieldwork Chapter 14

Relationships- Parents, Siblings, Boyfriend, Friends, Teachers. 1. Parents and teachers have more power than me because they are older. My friends and boyfriend and I have the same amount of power as I because we are all the same age and are on equal levels. I have more power than my sibling they are all younger than me. 2. Power is organized by age to me I put power in place by age because the older you are the more power or knowledge you have over others. 3. The political negotiation in my relationships are based on power, with my parents the older I have gotten the more they listen and are will to negotiate with me, but with my parents still having more power over me the political negation is still in their favor. The political negotiation with my friends and boyfriend are equal because the power is equal. With my sibling have more political negation because I have more power than them. 4. These power dynamics are established at the beginning of the relationship. They can change with change in the relationship. 5. Within the state my daily relationships consist of stop light, speed cameras, and construction. 6. Theses relationship show that the state is the primary institute and has power over us because if you run a stop light or not going the speed limit you can get a ticket costing you money. Also construction on roads forces you to take detours or go another direction.

Lanya Wiley Dr. Howell 11/17/17 Anthropology Kamahi Brooks I interviewed Kamahi Brooks one of my mom’s child hood friends. She is 35 and is from Nigeria. She moved to Baltimore Maryland when she was 10 years old; she moved here because her parents wanted to create better life and future for her and her 3 siblings. Kamahi’s dad worked in Nigeria but found that moving the America would help them create a life for their kids they never had. Kamahi’s move to Maryland was very new to her; she said that everything was different and at first she was mad about leaving her friends and family. She adjusted with a hard transition from her culture to this one but know that she is older she says she thanks her parents all the time for the drastic decision they made. Gender roles in Kamahi’s community was very different from here in Maryland she said that her mom never worked she took care of her and her siblings, her mom cooked, clean and did many other things. When her family came to Maryland her mom though it would be best if she got a job and wasn’t stuck in the house. She explained to me that her mom loved taking care of her kids but she wanted something for herself to. For kamahi and her sibling their parents made it very strict that there had to do better; they had to be better than their parents. Even though migration was hard it was a very big and smart move for kamahi’s family.

My ethnicity and race is a part of my nation- state there will always be racial issues for black people in American but that’s the world we like in today.

This picture represent the discrimination again minority. The hurtful and disrespects thing said about the minority is wrong. Who wants to be put in a category passed on there looks, skin color, religion, and jobs. We as a community we all need to stop with the hurtful discrimating comments and racism as whole can decrease;so we can come together as a community.

This post is about the streotyoes of African American people most people say things like, you live with both parents, he looks like a drug dealer, or he looks like a thug. Is it only because we are black that we look like we sell drugs; is it only because I’m black that I should live with both my parents because I person live both my mom and Dad. The steotypes are not along rude but hurtful.

Police brutality and wrongful doing against African Americans is a huge problem in America. In the image above you see and black man in the left driving getting pulled over by police. On the right you see a white man doing the exact same as the black man but there are no police pulling him over. We can see the huge discrimination police but us african Americans though.

In my opinion I think that the film reinforces the stereotypes of Africa and African, I say this because the stereotype that al people come from Africa and African descendants is pointed out in this film. The film starts out in New York City with an investigation by geneticist Spencer Wells take swaps to get genetics from all different ethnicities. This investigation is used to show the human family tree and how it all goes back to Africa. They use genetic markers to track how we all are connected to each other. This is determined by scientist going through the .1% of changes between the A’s, G’s, C’s, and, T’s called markers which is a glimpse of a person who lived at some point in the distance past. If you share a marker with someone you share and ancestor. They all connect to not only one another but African and Africa.

Most people don’t feel like there is anything left in there blood to track their ancestors but the investigators track DNA that stays the same. Like a man named George Delos who has a Y chromosome that had been passed down the line from father to son for thousands of generation all the way back to one man that lived in Africa about 16,000 years ago. This man wasn’t the only one alive but his Y chromosome is in every man today. Eastern and southern Africa where a small community of Africans originated from is the people who we all originate from. Even if your ancestors are from Europe and farther back the Middle East even farther back they will always go back to Africa. You might wonder if everyone comes from African descendants or Africa why are we all not black or African American. It first started with the discovery our founding population had spilt in two. The first branch on the family tree, the sun VS the Hasabe cause by climate and slit changes in earth’s orbit. This caused the northern hemisphere to be ice and cold but Africa became very dry, transforming into dessert because there was no rain for thousands of years. This dessert like condition could’ve wiped out the whole population but many Africans held on and migrated to the northern hemisphere. This is called the Out of Africa Theory. They very dry condition cause the migration in Africans to the northern hemisphere. The northern hemisphere a colder atmosphere where African began to have a lighter skin tone because they let more vitamin D in which most Africans living in Africa couldn’t get because melanin would block them from receiving vitamin D creating the difference in appearance. Many say but why do Chinese people and Indian people have different facial features. Well the different conditions and climates they lived in there body’s had to adapt for instance a women living in china would adapt to having lids over her eyes because of the conditions in china. These traits are passed down and the looks they have adapted to.

The film not only reinforces the stereotypes of everyone originating from Africa but they give facts and proven data that the Human Family Tree goes all the way back and originated from Africa. I myself believe that we human originate from Africa and African descendant.

Holly Barker Response

I completely agree with Holly Barker on her writing on climate change and globalization. She says its up to our generation to help with changing the world and I agree. She he worked closely with Marshall Island where the US performed nuclear testing that effected the climate change and the people. Barker wanted to help the people of Marshall and be that voice for them. She started working with the Marshall Island government to help them understand the US government. Many other small countries just like Marshall Island will be none excitant if we continue to let globalization take over. @beartasabrina
