i know a lot of you really only paid attention danganronpa v3, but i wanted to highlight my favorite danganronpa today. so, i made this video to celebrate danganronpa 37. have fun.
I’ve migrated over to YouTube for the most part (channel plug channel plug channel plug), but I felt like giving Tumblr a little bonus cover for the road. Sure, not having a professional setup may make the audio a little dodgy at places in this cover, but I think it’s a solid step up from any of my other covers on here.
Katanagatari is in my top 6 anime of all time, and Supercell is the band that I say currently has made my favorite song of all time, and so Hakushu Kassai Utaawase was absolutely destined for greatness in my eyes. It’s so eccentric, and it may feel weird at first, but it’s definitely a proper fit for Katanagatari. If you take anything away from this, Hakushu Kassai Utaawase is a good song.

i was originally going to make this my youtube debut cover but after reading up and scaring myself on copyright laws i thought it would be better to slink back into the hellhole (seriously, how do those guys do it)
Isekai Shokudou is one of my 10/10 anime, among the likes of Geass, Hunter x Hunter, Brotherhood, After Story, and Kimi no Na Wa. Why is this? Well, aside from me having the worst taste in anime, I put every 10 in its place because it earns that spot by being the best of the best in something. With After Story, it’s family. With Code Geass, it’s the most accurate representation of someone who can change the world changing the world in spite of having a horrible case of Murphy’s law. Brotherhood and Kimi no Na Wa go together nicely as life and love respectively.
So, what does Isekai Shokudou have to compete with these gargantuan titans of the anime world? Well, I’ve never seen an anime that has ever come close to Isekai Shokudou’s level of chill vibes. This kind of anime can calm you down and warm your heart in 9 out of 10 situations, and I absolutely had to hold myself back from watching every single episode when I picked it up because I needed to spread out the sheer amount of relaxation it brings.
With that being said, however, the OP is actually pretty hype. Personally, the ending theme is more akin to the show’s feel, but this song is absolutely not one to pass up. Thus, I decided on this cover.

I really, really thought that Clannad wouldn’t have a trump card stronger than Dango Daikazoku. I was far too wrong for my own good. After the scene with this song played, I cried for a good 5 minutes, and then went to find my dad and cried for another 5. You can even hear all the times where I force myself not to waver covering this song. Clannad is, without a doubt, my favorite family-centric anime ever.
I tried to do this song a fraction of the justice it deserved, yet I really think it needs more. Regardless, I tried, and I can improve myself until someday I really can do all of these songs justice.

Around two or three episodes into Clannad, I knew this song would absolutely be something special.
About a month and a half later, I have a complete Dango family right here next to me as I type this. What a world. I’m planning to give them to my friends for late Christmas presents, as I wasn’t here on/around Christmas to celebrate with them. Edit: Dango delivered! (I don't know why, but I like to think that dango is its own plural in English)
This childish little song made out to be a theme song for a kid’s show really does have a lot of emotion behind it, doesn’t it?
Clannad After Story, however, is so much more than that. It managed to covertly weave its way into my top 5 favorite anime of all time and it also harbors one of the scenes I’ve cried the most over in anime, the only other anime scene to even really come close would be the one relating to the number “135.” That being said, for the new year I decided to make a Clannad cover. Of course, I can never do it justice, but I can sure as hell try.
1) “Happy Holidays” Keeps it non-denominational to fully respect anyone who wishes to celebrate their December holidays with them. A lot of snowmen and snowflakes and hot chocolate and stuff, but it’s far more winter themed than Christmas themed.
2) “Merry Christmas” Very much all about Christmas with Christmas trees and traditions. All the songs sung are about Christmas and specifically Christmas traditions like Santa and stuff are celebrated. All about watching the Christmas movies on TV and all that jazz.
3) “God Bless Us Everyone” Jesus was born on this day did you know that?
4) "Ackshchtshooually" Jesus was not born on Christmas. You see, the shepherds who came to see Jesus would not have been out tending their sheep during Christmas time. This is all a capitalist ploy, moreso than Valentine's day. Jesus was most likely born in a feeding trough in a cave, not a manger in a stable. It was not a silent night, Jesus cried. Crying isn't a sin. The magi were actually astronomers, of which the number of them we don't know. They had to have come to deliver their presents feasibly years after Jesus was born, which was actually around 7-4 BC. The C-

Back to Bake, it’s everyone’s favorite song from everyone’s favorite sports lesbian! Oh, Kanbaru Suruga, what a... Kanbaru Suruga.
This song is really refreshingly upbeat, especially for a Monogatari song, and it’s tied to one of my favorite characters. So, I was willing to cover this one (lyrics under the cut), even if the end sounds like it has approximately 2 too many layers, of which it has 3.
There’s really nothing much else to say, I just had fun with this one.

Sakurasou was exactly what I needed and it came when I needed it. A wacky romcom with a generic complains-about-everything main character, a hard working up-and-coming voice actor, a shut-in, the dorm teacher who only needs a drink and a date to be set for life, a cold and calculated playboy, an overly-energetic... Misaki, and the greatest modern-day painter that doesn’t know how to put on her own clothes. That’s Sakura Hall.
While Sakurasou is fun, it’s also quite melancholic. I feel like 「DAYS of DASH」 is the perfect fit for it, and I love it quite a bit because of that. It’s a contender for my favorite song, and it’s been holding a strong and definite second for quite a while. There wasn’t a real reason I chose to sing this song in English, but I felt it fitting, so I wrote some lyrics based off of the translation provided by animelyrics.com. This cover has one of my favorite parts of any cover I’ve ever done, I trust you to find that part.

For the past few months, this song has been my favorite. There’s so much heart put in, and right now I believe it’s supercell’s best song. On top of that, Akane Sasu Sora did a beautiful English cover and overall the song is just- bwhldjsfnha;dsjbva;kjsfg
It’s also the ending theme to an anime that you haven’t watched yet, Bakemonogatari. Most (if not all) of the characters and interactions are enjoyable, and this song really encompasses Senjougahara’s personality and fit perfectly into the anime itself. I can’t do it justice, so go listen to the original hundreds of times. But, on the offchance you want to hear me sing it, I hope you like it.
The next actual cover should be in a week! I had a slight burst of motivation and I’m planning to ride it out for at least two more covers.
