Im not a book reader but, what ive garnered from the show: vampires are defined by their experiances as humans, them trying to distance themselves from either their humanity or vamparism ends up tieing them closer to it - "Tries to do away with it entirely, lives as an inversion of it, thus continuing to refer to it indirectly" typa thing.

Gabriella's human experiance was defined by the abject lack of autonomy, and one of the ways she made up for this lack was by grooming her youngest son. In the scene in episode 2 where shes putting the salve on Lestats wounds after he comes back from killing the wolves and the she starts feeling him up while sharing sexual fantasies, i dont think its likely that this was the first time an incident like this occurrs between her and Lestat.

(Imo) When humans become Vampires they become almost a hyperbole of their human selves. Every human is monstorous it just becomes especially evident when you have an imperative blood lust and live for 200+ years.

In regards to Gabriella's gender identity and expression that ive seen mych discourse about, i think it'd make sense for Gabriella to reject gender because she rejects everything that strips her of autonomy but i dont think she'd paricularly care about it in a weighted sense (atleast her show counterpart).
